The best-selling post-apocalyptic epic adventure the Last Survivors - the complete series of six audiobooks in one bundle. Survival in man’s second Dark Age. Three hundred years after the fall of society, the last fragments of civilization are clinging to life, living in the ruins of the ancient cities in medieval conditions. Technology has been reduced to legend, monsters roam the forests, and fear reigns supreme. But that is just the beginning. The wind-borne spores are spreading, disfiguring men and twisting their minds, turning them into creatures who threaten to destroy the townships. Among the townsfolk, political and the religious, dissension is spreading. Through it all, a mother must protect her son. The complete six-audiobook Last Survivors series. Review: Bravo - A great series with likable characters, believable action, interesting plot. Very much enjoyed reading it. Thank you for writing it. Review: Solid read. Overall great story and quick pasted plot. - Honestly, it's a buck for 1400 pages. I've read other Bobby Adair books before, so I kinda knew what to expect in some ways. I do wish the characters were more fleshed out, some are pretty much evil to be evil. (I'm trying to avoid spoilers) The main people were good, more fleshed out and seemingly real. Not just evil to be evil. It's written by two different people, but honestly I couldn't tell when one person was writing vs the other, so in that way they did great. It is 1400 pages (It's 6 books, but I look at it like one giant book) but generally the plot never slows down by too much. Stuff is always happening, keeping you turning pages. The chapters are short, which in some ways is kinda annoying, I don't want to wait to find out what happens next. Sometimes chapters in a row will be about the same person. (Each chapter is titled by the person it's about. Which is nice cuz there is a lot of different characters to keep track of, so knowing it's about person X gets you ready for them again. Some times I think they could have combined chapters together. EG chapter 1 Bray chapter 2 Bray. In some ways I think they did it to show time passing, but a few times there wasn't much time between the chapters. (Maybe each author wrote one chapter then handed it off to the other author?) Overall I think the story is great once I had a firm grasp on the story, I wouldn't have been able to even guess the end. It's a lot of story, so much so that I was dragging my feet at the end to not finish it, trying to keep it going a bit longer. Also it's a buck, I really don't know of anything you could spend a buck on, and get this much entertainment out of. There are small flaws here and there. BUT overall, it's a great story, and again it's a buck, you almost can't afford to not buy it.

RIVETING
***SPOILERS Included*** I A.L.M.O.S.T. returned the book for a refund. Had the forward not included a warning, had I not bothered to read that warning, I surely would have. Fortunately for me (as a reader), the authors made note that parts of the book would seem that they were misogynists - and detailed why. (The End of the World would likely be a bad place for women and children - and anyone 'physically weaker'.) Still, it took S.O.M.E. doing not to be turned off, not to throw in the towel, for parts of the book are... quite violent towards women. It takes a LONG time before the women get to come into their own, so to speak. Almost the entire series seems to be against them, and not just the women. ANYONE weaker than the few who hold dominance against the whole is in jeopardy of loosing their lives in very specific, quite horrific manors. With that said, and out of the way... the book itself, the story line, used violence against the women & weaker characters in the story to an advantage of an eventual outcome I LOVED seeing. By seeing, I mean, they painted the book, using words as their medium, in such a way as to be able to 'watch' it unfold as if watching a movie. It's a VERY long omnibus, a great read that caused me to keep my light on for many nights. I hated that it ended. Of course - there's a follow up book, by T.W. Piper, titled "The Ruins", but I haven't yet read it. Due to our being financially handicapped I always have to wait on omnibus editions of series. I'm hoping "The Ruins" goes on sale some day (soon)! I truly greatly enjoyed it (with a few exceptions, which actually FIT the book, as noted). I can't say that I would recommend it to "everyone", though, due to the graphic nature of violence (against anyone/thing that breaths). But if that isn't a problem for you, then - yes, I fully recommend it. The characters are described in great details allowing them all to come to life. The scenery, too. Everything is very well described. I purchased this GREAT omnibus on sale for JUST $.99, the best buy I've made in AGES. <3

One of the best surprises I’ve had in awhile!
I was so pleasantly surprised by this series! I’ve come to the end of it, and it makes me sad. I’m sad to say goodbye to the characters and not to know what happens to them or their town, going forward. The series was about the relationships between people doing whatever it takes to protect what they love; whether it was family, their town, their ideals, their way of life, or their memories of a life long passed. The authors wove a believable sociology of a semi dark ages civilization in awe of the technological remnants of their ancestors (us), and in fear of the spore, and populated it with characters that were easy to care about. Those who abuse their power do so for different reasons while those victimized scheme toward revolution. For me, the horror was in the anticipation, not the action. It was the everpresent threat of the twisted men, the threat of the pyre, the threat of the spore, the threat of being victimized by those in power - that was the horror. The authors also didn’t pull punches. Just because you’re a strong, central character doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to make it to the end of the book. The character development throughout the series is satisfying and interesting. Most of my predictions about what would happen to the characters as I read ended up being wrong. Like in real life, people behave in surprising ways, sometimes. The authors, however, managed to write these decisions so that the characters weren’t betraying their natures. These people go through their own transformative processes, some for better, some for worse, and I was happy to go along for the ride. If there is anything that I didn’t like about this long series is that there isn’t more of it. There is a sequel series, but, I believe, it only follows 3 of the characters from this series. That being said, I’m buying it in the next few minutes, happy to continue my own journey into this post apocalyptic future, meet new characters, and find out what’s next for our trio.

It’s so good!
When I started this book, I realized it was not at all my preferred genre. However, the writing was good, and I was liking the characters, the story line was really pulling me in, so I kept reading, and reading, and reading. I just finished it and all I can say is, that was so good!! I have a new genre 🙂🙂 Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience. I loved every page. Great series!!

Engaging and interesting
Certainly dystopian with a capital d. The society described in this series of books is as brutal and horrifying as any I have come across. The main characters are trying to survive militaristic authoritative rulers that would put Attila to shame. And religious zealots that likewise would make Torquemada proud. The amount of death and suffering portrayed can be difficult to handle but one finds oneself concerned and worried about the characters that have some redeeming qualities. The authors have spun a tale of hope and perseverance out of the worst that humans can be. A terrible human tragedy that becomes uplifting and satisfying. Well done.

thoroughly enjoyed
The psychology of the characters and their transformations was well written. I was surprised at how quick of a read this was as it kept my attention.

Unrelenting misery
I love sci fi and post apocolyptic. This fits the bill but I can't say I enjoyed it. I slogged thru the overly long series. It reinforces the notion that human nature will always cause mistreatment of women and abuse of power over others. One "leader" is worse than the next. A problem I had with the writing was that I couldn't get a handle on what the world looked like. Was it pioneer cabin esque? Lower middle class as we know it housing? Mud huts? And the people as well. Were they all white? Other than long black hair, there is virtually no description of anybody. I got the second series at the same time but I'll wait. I need a break from the misery. I'm hoping, however, we somehow learn more about what happened.

Not Up to Par
I am a great reader of post-apocalyptic books, but this collection really let me down. As far as I'm concerned, a good 40% of the book could have been eliminated. To be specific, the entire portion dealing with Blackthorn's march towards the Ancient City could have been forgotten. To me it seems that the authors only wanted to give some substance to their book, which really wasn't required. Too bad..... it could have been a worthwhile read. I only got as far as 60% and finally gave up.

Darf eine Dystopie gut sein?
Diese zumindest ist es. Sogar ziemlich gut. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Excellent.
I have always been a fan of Post Apocalyptic fiction, having avidly consumed many books over the years, I had recently strayed away from the genre, but seeing this series at a bargain price, I was tempted to give it a try. I am so glad I did. So many PA books are very "Samey" , with the normal,"walking dead, deadly virus" plot, that it was a refreshing change to immerse myself in the world the Authors wove. Superb characters, who filled their allotted roles and brought you action, surprises and suspense as the literary storm rolled on. I have just "binge read" the entire series over a week, desperate to follow and share in the world you created. Having reached the climax of the series, all I can say is "absolutely excellent", the best series I have read since Game of Thrones. I am looking forward to following the further adventures of Beck, Kirby and William as they continue to explore. Excellent Read, thank you. Ian W

Epic story, not a dull moment
The Last Survivors series is a grand story that never fails to deliver. With grandiose themes, nail-biting action and surprising twists, these six books are guaranteed to keep you up at night, late for work and ignoring family and friends. What I most liked about this series was the character development. Very rich, flushed out characters that have interesting arcs and change in surprisng ways. I do have to admit at about the 3rd book i was a little annoyed at all the pov's and short chapters, but it did keep the peace going, and once a few main characters were killed off my brain could keep up with the story. I admire the author's courage in offing some very integral characters that I got very attached to, but hey, that's life, and more realistic than having all your main characters invincible. Not many authors will take that chance. Highly recommended, looking forward to the sequel series.
