Finally died after 7 years
Honestly I should have replaced this as a precaution 2 years ago but it was sure to let me know when it stopped working with 3 beeps and an error message. Time to retire it for a new one! I only had to change the batteries maybe 4 times over the past 7 years. It stayed plugged in and hung on the wall about waist high. Changing batteries and testing it periodically was super easy. It was VERY loud, I could hear it from anywhere on my main floor. Did have one instance where we panicked bc it went off only to realize one of the kids leaned something against the device and it compressed the test button (which has to be pressed and held for more than 3 seconds so this was like a freak incident where it was perfectly leaning against it lol). All in all, great quality. Pretty sure if it failed I'd be dead, so there's that. Gonna buy a replacement now 7 years later and finally write the review for this first purchase back in 2018 lol

Decent product
Decent product. Consumer reports says this model detects carbon monoxide with an excellent rating. It plugs in and does not need any further stabilization beyond that. It comes with 2 AA batteries that are easily installed. There is a difficult to see green light that shows you the product is working. I had to unplug it a couple of times to convince myself it was on. If you press the button on the right you are shown a blue screen with the current carbon monoxide level which should read 0. The button on the left is a silence/ test button. I thought it always displayed CO level. It does not or I would have given it 5 stars.

CO615 Money Well Spent for FAMLY SAFETY
Received my new CO615 and installed it. Watched a video for the install and test. Much easier than trying to read the tiny print on the instructions. Also found the MFG date. Important because it stated a 7-year life product. My only drawback is that it isn't very well lit when plugged in, but that makes sense, so you don't run the battery down. Having said that, not sure if the batteries are being used when plugged into an outlet? TESTED it, all worked well. INFO: UPDATE: Found info behind the plug, remove the plug from the back clips. Marking โ2025 OCT 31 L-22โ means: 2025 OCT 31 โ The unit was manufactured on October 31, 2025. L-22 โ This is a lot or production line code used internally by First Alert. It helps them track batches, but it isnโt something you need for everyday use. Stay Safe

Well Made and Easy to Use
Protection devices need to inspire confidence. First Alert is a trustworthy brand, and this detector feels well made. It is important to read the instructions. It will alert you if you fail to properly insert the backup battery. We purchased it because to take on vacation to Panama, where we rented an Air BnB for two weeks. CO detectors are not required in some countries, heating and cooking devices may not be properly vented, and chose to be safe. * Although there was no gas heat where we stayed, we noticed that the gas for the stove did not seem to be odorized. A methane detector might also be useful.

Convenient and confidence inspiring.
The Bottom Line: This is a highly flexible carbon monoxide detector that solves the "blocked outlet" problem with its detachable cord, while providing a clear digital interface that makes monitoring straightforward. Installation & Setup: The "Dual-Power" claim isnโt just marketing; it makes installation incredibly versatile. You can plug it directly into a standard 120V outlet like a typical sensor, but the standout feature is the detachable plug. Using the included 6-foot power cord, I was able to mount the detector at eye level on the wall while plugging it into a lower outlet behind furniture. This is a huge win for accessibility and better airflow monitoring. Visibility & Interface: The backlit digital display is a major upgrade over standard "LED-only" models. Itโs easy to read even in low light, displaying current CO levels and battery status at a glance. I particularly appreciate the "Peak Level" memory feature, which lets you see if any levels were detected while you were out. Safety & Reliability: Battery Backup: It uses 2 AA batteries (included), ensuring it keeps monitoring during power outages. Loud Alarm: The 85-decibel horn is piercing enough to wake you from a deep sleep or hear from another floor. Maintenance: The front-access battery door means I don't have to unplug or unmount the unit just to swap batteries. Pros: Detachable plug allows for wall mounting or direct plug-in. Clear, backlit digital display replaces confusing beep codes. Continuous monitoring with a reliable electrochemical sensor. Cons: The display does not stay lit constantly to save power, so you have to press a button to see it clearly in pitch black. Final Verdict: If you want a reliable CO detector that doesn't dictate exactly where it must be placed based on your outlet height, the First Alert CO615 is the best option in this price range.

Great product
These are great monitors. They came highly recommended by my fire department nearby. This 3pk. buy worked great because of the size of home, the people I was buying it for.

They work
I own a condo townhouse and on the 24th of December 2022 the fire man came to my door after they were called to my area by another home owner whose carbon monoxide was going off. The outlet to my outside gas furnace pipe was blocked with snow. They cleared the snow away checked my monoxide fixtures and told me I need all new ones. I bought the package of 3 as the picture shows and plugged them in. They have a small light that shows they are on and working. I strongly suggest that anyone who does not have carbon monoxide alarms buy a package of these immediately. You can test them just by pressing a small button. Again, I repeat again if you do not have carbon monoxide alarms in your dwelling get these. They work great.
