I hesitated to buy this book but am so glad I did
I hesitated to buy this book but am so glad I did. Picture a girl of today, not used to physical labor, accustomed to various machines to do the laundry and farm work, who loves her cell phone, video games and TV. Suddenly transport her into a Little House on the Prairie setting. She has to tend farm animals, milk cows, work in the garden and fields, basically work till she is exhausted just to help the family subsist. And she has to keep her real identity from the parents although the siblings are aware of who she is and helps her learn how to do the required chores. Initially fearful and desperate to return home, she becomes attached to her new family and by the end hates to leave them. While there she helps the teen boy in the family overcome his anger at the loss of his parents and come to accept and appreciate the farm family who took him in. Throughout the ordeal she maintains her faith and dependence on Jesus. I would probably consider this book to be young adult but as an almost senior citizen, I enjoyed it too. Danni McGrath, I was hoping for a sequel. One that shows what happened to the young girl who was transferred from her farm family to the modern world. And another for what happened in the farm family when the girls returns to their rightful families.

Beautifully Crafted
I am a grown, mature woman who happened to stumble upon this little gem of a book and since I like reading all types of literature, regardless of the intended audience, I downloaded Agnes Campbell's Hat, not quite sure as to what was in store. I have to say, it was a beautiful little read. Sort of an up-dated Wizard Of Oz , where the main character is swept away to another land, only one not nearly as glamorous and intriguing as Dorothy's but an eye-opening journey just the same. Beautifully crafted and thoughtfully rendered, it speaks from a girl's point of view without seeming infantile.I wish this could be required reading in grade-schools, perhaps it would awaken an interest in history and life before cell phones for children whothink life should be nothing more than entertainment.

What a Great Read!
I suppose most young people wonder what it would be like to somehow step into a time warp and end up living in a completely different age for a time. That's what happens to Tessa. Her experience doesn't look like fun in the beginning, but she learns to adapt and she acquires maturity beyond her years through this experience. Also, having a life of ease isn't as appealing for the more mature Tessa. There are things to appreciate that are far more important than modern conveniences. It's a great book for anyone of any age.

Delightful
I read this story to my 7 year old daughter and she and I were immediately captivated. It's a story full of action and edge-of-your-seat suspense as well as honest, reflective moments where a young girl struggles to understand and make her peace with where she's been placed. My favorite aspect of the story is the detail included--clearly Danni McGriffith knows the land and surrounding area in which she has placed her protagonist. The setting is conveyed so clearly and realistically that the reader immediately feels a part of the story itself. A fun and engaging read.

Loved this book and hated for it to end
This is the story of the journey a young girl takes after putting on a hat her mother brought home from one of her treasure hunts. Or does she take it? It's up to you to decide if it really happened or was she like Dorothy in the wizard of oz? Whether it happened or not it was a believable journey and you will find yourself swept up into the story from the very first pages until the end.

Pioneer intrigue
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and a different twist on time travel. Although written more for YA, it kept an over 50 woman well absorbed throughout the entire story. There are references to praying and the Lord, in a nice way where Agnes was torn on praying for her "travel" outcome. The ending left me smiling and glad I decided to read this book.

Imaginative Time Travel
The author excelled at capturing a technologically adept girl thrown into the past where her job was manual labor. Her use of the girls feelings and moods were moving. The boy's anger was palpable and kept the book balanced. My favorite struggle in the book was when the girl wavers back and forth when deciding to return to her era. Loved the suspense in this story too! As an adult who enjoyed this this story, I highly recommend it to young people and adults alike...Good job!

Agnes Campbell's Hat
Time travel novels are always favorites of mine and this one does not disappoint. It engages the reader and provides what is probably a true picture of farm life in the 19th century. Basically a story about young teenagers but has enough human interest mixed with history for the enjoyment of the adult reader. I would like to see a follow-up.
