Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese from Great British Trading 1kg

This cheese is one of the best mature cheddars I've ever had. Really tangy, sharp flavour you would expect but also reassuringly crumbly, soft texture at at reasonable price. But....£16.11 on 12th March for 1kg. Now, on 30th March, 1kg is £18.95. A very large increase in a very short period of time.Has anyone else noticed that prices of goods on Amazon, and other market place sites, increase when you go to reorder??Have stopped ordering this cheese as of August 26. The last 2 orders were not of the same extra mature taste ir texture. Shame, but looking at how the price hase increased, I have gone back to Barbers vintagecheddar.

Reasonable flavour and firm texture. A little crystallisation noted. Doesn't easily grate, tends to break.

I ordered 2kg in August 2023 and have just finished it. It freezes in suitably sized portions, either as a block or grated for convenience. The flavour is excellent. If I have any criticism (which I don’t) if served as part of a cheese board you need to advise your guests it is extra crumbly - but worth it for the flavour and texture. It also “cooks” well either in sauce, in scones or as a topping. I thoroughly recommend.

The cheese arrived in good condition with a frozen gel pack to keep it cool. It tasted just as a mature cheddar should - sharp, creamy and nutty. Its texture is crumbly and it made wonderful cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese and was just as good served with crackers and pickle. I cut the block into 4 and clingfilmed and wrapped in foil then froze 3 pieces; defrosting in the fridge and bringing to room temperature. I shall certainly buy it again and would recommend to anyone who likes a good cheddar.
