Great setup
First, without reading the reviews here I probably would have not ordered the adapter nut and been in bind, but since I did I knew to measure the forend with the grip off and since mine was 6 3/4" long, I knew to order the adapter nut. I ordered this since my old forend cracked down the middle. Removing the old stock was easy, used a socket with an extension to remove the stock screw and channel lock players to remove the forend nut. Just reversed the process to install the new parts. Everything fit well, there are no gaps or overlaps, just looks like it was built that way. I took it out and shot three rounds of skeet and it handled as well as before. Going from low ready to the shoulder in a hurry is a bit more difficult due to the grabby nature of the stock material, but I usually call for the target with the gun mounted to my shoulder so it isn't a problem. The balance does not feel any different, and shooting doubles is actually easier since I don't grip the forend, I just rest it on my left hand and work the action with friction, and there is now more friction to work with. It took a little getting used to, and I can't say my scores have improved any due to the new stock, but I will keep practicing and hope to make a few 25's this year. All in all I am very happy with the stock and forend. I wasn't planning in purchasing this, but necessity dictated and I am very pleased with the results. I would be happy to recommend the Hogue Shotgun Stock and Forend kit. Just make sure you measure the forend before ordering, 6.75 inches requires the adapter nut.

Great aftermarket stock and forend set!
This is a great upgrade over the stock Mossberg 500 stock and forend. Its a comfy, non slip grip and looks great. Installed on an old Mossberg 500A 12 gauge and fit on perfectly. Some 500's will need an adapter nut, I lucked out and did not. Thanks to other reviews on here, the length of my stock forend was same as this Hogue so no need of the adapter. These are pretty cheap to buy compared to other sets out there. Great value, and it feels great. I'm not a fan of pistol grips or folding stocks so this was exactly what I wanted. I have the Magpul stock and forend set on my Remington 870 12 guage and I like this set just as much, however this is not modular like that one, can't adjust it or add sling attachments. Great value, great set up, no complaints!

Incredibly comfortable
When I was 18 I purchased a Mossberg 500 and put a top folding ATI stock on it. I wanted a compromise between pistol grip and full stock. The old stock looked cool but was a little shorter than a standard stock, and when fired in pistol grip mode really beat your hand up. As I grew up a little I wanted a regular, full stock shotgun. Enter the Hogue overmolded stock. The kit came with a matching foregrip (added bonus, 7 years had not been kind to the original grip). Installation was a breeze if you are familiar with shotguns at all. One word of caution, if you have a pistol grip you will need a longer bolt to attach the stock. The stock and grip have a rubberized coating with a pattern to increase grip where your hands go. The stock also comes with a rubber end plate to reduce felt recoil. The stock performs amazingly, is a great length for me, and is incredibly comfortable.

Buyer beware!
So after reading some of the reviews I started not to buy this thing. I picked up a Mossberg 500 pistol grip for cheap and wanted a full stock on it. If you browse some of the reviews, people go into more detail about the problems, so I will just list them. Oh, and here is a pretty good hack for any 12 gauge model if your the handy type. Instead of buying a 25$ forearm wrench for a specific model, that your only going to use once, go to the hardware store and buy a 3/4 inch, PVC pipe coupler fitting, or T-fitting for around 50 cents. It will fit perfect over your mag tube, mark the notches from the nut (usually 2) on the fitting, and then drimmel, or saw out your notches to fit, give it a good turn with a pair of pliers or channel locks and your forearm nut should come right off, most aren't tighten down alot. Issue 1-The forearm guild tube has to be a certain length or the forearm won't fit without an adapter nut, I think the right length was 4 3/4" but I'm not sure off the top of my head, it was the bigger of the two, Amazon carry's the adapter if you have the smaller one. I measured, and mine happened to be the right length. Issue 2-If you had a pistol grip format to begin with, you don't have the right sized bolt to attach the stock. I saw someone mention that Mossberg would send you one for free, yeah, that's bogus. I called Mossberg, and after being on hold for literally 45 minutes, I was told that I had to be the original owner of the gun, and that it had to still be under warranty for a free part, otherwise it's 6$ for the part, and 6$ for shipping, and wait 2 weeks. Do yourself a favor and go to any hardware store and get a course tread, 5.5 inch long, 5/16 tread bolt, one washer, and one lock washer, for a grand total of around 40 cents. You need a 1/2 socket with a 6 inch extension to put it on. I think it's pretty crappy on Hogue's part not to put a probably 20 cent wholesale part in with the item. I was aware of these issues before I bought the item. All and all I really like the item, other than the issues listed, good value. Their are a few thing that I don't like about the item itself, but aren't major. The rubberized part on the stock only goes up to the pistol grip on the stock, and not the full stock. And the beefy part of the stock is completely hollow, even tho it's made with pretty sturdy plastic, it might be cracked if stepped on or something like that, just thought it could use a structural support bar going down the middle or something. I'm happy with the purchase.

Neither part fits, buy something else.
Parts don't even fit a basic Mossberg 500. When installing the new stock, the factory stock bolt will be too long with your new stock, you can fix this with washers but if I'm paying for a stock that's labeled a direct replacement, I don't want to run all over town spending more money to get it to work. The forend doesn't fit, you'll have to buy the longer forend assembly to get it work. Once again, paying for a direct replacement, not spending more money to get it to work. The stock itself is decent quality, wouldn't be a bad deal if you didn't have to order a bunch of stuff to make it work. Don't buy it if you expect a working product.

Good set, fitted onto my old 500 perfectly, very comfortable for a big man

I opted for this stock to replace the original, beat up wood furniture on my older Lakefield Mossberg 500A. The fore end was a perfect size and fit, but the butt stock required some fine tuning. It would not marry up tightly to the back of the receiver without trimming the depth and thickness of the C-shaped “key” structure on the stock. But, after a bit of re-shaping with a rotary tool, I was able to achieve a perfect fit. It’s not as nice in appearance as more expensive options, but it’s comfortable, functional and durable and that’s what really matters. It’s a quality stock at this price point and would have received 5 stars if not for the fitment issue.

Great classic stock with none of that pistol grip business. Pistol grips dont work well with a mossberg tang safety. You will need a standard 5.5 inch 5/16 bolt if you are switching from a pistol grip or dont have the long stock bolt. The rubberized texture helps and is in the right places.

Its a great buttstock for the mosssberg. Has a lot of padding. Amd the foregrip feels great in the hand. Would definitely recommend this product. But if you dont have the original stock for the gun you need a 5/16 bolt by 5 inches long but thats not hard to come by. Its real easy to install and from start tp finish it took and hour.
