First of all, the label on the six pack says 1 micron in the upper text, then says 5 micron in an icon on the lower left corner of the same label. Each individual filter label says 1 micron. They look exactly like the 5 micron string filters I've been using. But, since I had good luck with the 5 micron filters, and since this particular item was priced LESS than the properly labelled ones, I thought I'd give it a shot. I haven't used any yet, but whether is 1 or 5 micron, I expect to be satisfied. Will follow-up later.

Could never figure why whole house sediment filtration is so damn expensive. All the discount filter suppliers make furnace filters... appliance filters... etc... they want you to 'subscribe'... I was stuck getting these at Walmart in packs of 2... yes these are fine and priced more reasonably... but I had to bulk up... which means $$$ and storage space.... I won't be buying filters for a while... my well system is still leaching beach sand (black though) after 24 years of new well... gotta protect the plumbing and appliances and fixtures.... these fill the bill... I use TWO about every five weeks... just to avoid issues... moving on

I use a whole house filter to filter the water when I fill our hot tub. We are on a well and there is a lot of very fine clay silt in the well water. I had been using a 15 micron filter and it helped but didn't get all of the silt. I was glad to find these 1 micron filters that fit my existing housing. Much better performance and a reasonable price.
