I used to read these books when I was little & got the collection out of the library to read to my 5 year old when she mentioned the teacher was reading The Magic Faraway at School & how much she was enjoying it. Decided to buy the set rather than the collection as thought they would be easier to manage when my daughter is ready to have a go at reading them by herself in a year or two. The books tell the stories of the adventures of 3 children, Joe, Beth & Frannie who move to the country & discover an enchanted wood & the magic faraway tree nearby. They make friends with the magical folk who live there & visit the many strange lands that come & go at the top of the tree. My daughter really loves Moonface, Silky, Saucepan & the other characters. She couldn't wait for bed time so that she could read another chapter of two! Its a great set if books for girls and boys especially if you want something to get there imaginations going.

I gave these to my grand daughter for her burthday, so didn't actually receive them myself. However, as a child, I had these books and read and enjoyed them so much, that in the end they were falling apart!! The stories give children so much scope to use their imagination. My children were brought up on these and they are continuing the trend. The books are full of good old fashioned adventure with memorable characters children can readily relate to. Children will go back to these books again and again and can invent new magical lands for themselves, great fun!

Arrived in good condition

My 5 Yr old daughter LOVES these books as do I. The idea was that we read a chapter a night, and most nights we read at least 2 or 3 chapters as it's so exciting and we need to know what's happening lol. Even my mother in law wants to buy them for herself as she has read some chapters to my daughter and has never heard of these books. Brilliant value, and definitely worth buying 👌

Bought as 'good as new' returned item and am quite happy with it.

I read these books to my kids and lived them that much my Daughter bought me a set for Christmas, I also bought a set for my friend's son to read when he gets older

I bought these to read to my 4 year old as bedtime stories. I was slightly dubious at first as although my little one is mature for his age, I didn't know if these would be too advanced for him to understand. I was wrong, these stories were perfect for encouraging his imagination and the chapters short enough to keep his attention for the duration. They arrived in a lovely case containing the 4 books (The Folk of the Faraway Tree, The Magic Faraway Tree, The Enchanted Wood, Up). Whilst the books are intended to be read in order and the stories vaguely follow on from each other, they can also be read independently without any prior knowledge of the stories.

Bought as a gift, something different for a friend's new baby. I loved these as a child and still have my copies. Colourful and full of wondrous adventures to fill a child's mind with imagination

Dont often find all 4 in a box set. Kept a 10 year old quiet during hot summer holidays

Great stories

Ich habe diese Bücher auf Englisch gekauft, da ich als Kind eine deutsche Ausgabe hatte von Band 1. Da ich erfahren habe das es mehrere Bände gibt, wollte ich alle auf deutsch kaufen. Leider gibt es momentan keine deutsche Auflage und gebraucht habe ich keine gefunden. Also habe ich diese Englische Version gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden damit!

So I personally find these stories silly,but they are not for me. I have tried reading my daughter a few series like, harry Potter and Narnia but she has not responded to anthing the way she does to these books. She actually asks for more. She asks to read during the day. This is unpresadented. Thank you.
