How does this stay on? Is there a band that goes around your head?

There is no band. Add your own band with 1/4 inch elastic or tape this over your eye. I got two and am using them inside an sleep mask I am making to give shape to the fabric so it does not lay against my eyes.

Will this fit under my eyeglasses?

Depends on the style of frame and it’s offset from the face. As a retired eye surgeon I must ask if your wearing prescription glasses why do you need the shield?

is it comfortable to wear with glasses on?

No, it gets in the way of the nose pad on your glasses. You can do it, but its not comfortable...

Will cloth tape work to keep the shield on while sleeping?

Yes, cloth tape will keep the shield in place. I switched to easy-tear tape because it was less irritating on my son's skin. I found that paper tape did not work. This shield also allows for a thin elastic to be attached through the venting holes so it can be worn without tape.
