Mr. Coffee Alderton Tea Kettle, 2.3 Quarts, Green

Great little teapot; well made, beautiful color, handle folds down for ease of filling, whistle is a quiet whistle. Just make sure to empty it inside if you wont be using all the water in it after a few hours so it does not rust as other reviews mention. A stainless teapot should not rust inside, but for some reason they do, it seems, according to the review(s). The handle did not get hot for me like it did for others, but the flip top of the pour spout does, so please remember to use a towel, or mitt on the spout tip before pouring. Would make a great gift.

UPDATED 11/20/16: I previously stated that the whistle was too quiet, but I think it was my fault because I didn't have the kettle lid nested securely. Once I started making sure that the lid was pressed in place properly the whistle seems to work better. I have removed the part of my original review that stated the whistle was too quiet. EDITED ORIGINAL - I read all the reviews first and it seems to me that they are very inconsistent. Not the reviews themselves, but the manufacturing of this pot I'm guessing. For example, one reviewer said that the whistle was loud enough for her to hear it in the next room and another said that the whistle is softer than other teapots. Someone else said that the inside was rusting because they left water in it all the time and another said that the spout got too hot. I have had my kettle for a month now, I use it everyday and always leave water in it, yet there's no rust. Also, my spout doesn't get too hot that I can't flip it open with my bare fingers, and I don't need to use n oven mitt or tea towel to grab the handle and lift the hot kettle. Keep in mind though that I flip the spout open fairly quickly, so my finger or thumb is not resting on the spout, hence it never gets hot. Some people may be more sensitive than me. Overall I really like the kettle. The color is just as it appears on my monitor and it works exactly like it's supposed to. It looks great in my kitchen and gets the job done.

Gibson Alderton 2.3 quart Whistling Tea Kettle, Red As others have mentioned, this thing is HUGE! I purchased it to replace my old 2-quart Revere Ware kettle (that I sadly boiled dry, breaking the bottom seal), which was not small, but this Gibson Alderton kettle has it beat in the size department: while its footprint is similar to the Revere Ware kettle (easily covering the large burners on my stove) it is much taller, even with the handle folded down. Frankly, I didn't expect to like this as well as I do. I loved my old Revere Ware kettle and, based on kettle reviews I'd read, I did not expect to find anything even close to it at a price I could afford. However, I took a chance on this one (mostly because of its handle shape) and I'm glad I did. While the metal is not as heavy as my old Revere Ware (and few pans are these days unless you buy high-end designer cookware), it is sturdy and I love how easy it is to wash inside (the one flaw of my old kettle). The other thing I really like is this kettle's ability to prop open the spout cover/whistle: there is a "stop" that holds it open if you pull it back far enough (just be careful not to flip hot water on yourself!), but is easily released by pushing it closed. I have not experienced the flaking enamel others mentioned, and I use it nearly every day. The only negative I have discovered so far is it's anemic-sounding whistle (also mentioned by others). It doesn't produce much sound even at a full boil with a full pot of water, and there is no sound at all if you aren't using a full kettle (after the warranty runs out, I may try to implant my Revere Ware whistle into this Gibson Alderton). Fortunately my cell phone has a built-in timer which I set if I need to leave the kitchen while the water heats. For the amount I paid and its sturdiness, it's worth putting up with the whistle issue. While this definitely isn't the same quality as the Revere Ware kettle, it is an acceptable substitute for the current $20 price tag. I am embarrassed to admit that if the whistle worked and the metal were a little heavier, I would actually like this better than my old Revere Ware! MINOR UPDATE This was originally a bright, bright red with almost an orange overtone which I didn't care for but was willing to tolerate because of how cheap it was. But it has aged to a lovely deep red. It's beautiful and worth waiting for!

So glad I ordered this teapot over all the rest. I love the whistle it makes. It's loud enough to hear in another room but not too loud. It seems very sturdy and you don't burn your hand on the handle. It's a nice color of green and I get compliments on it from guest. Hasnt rusted in my Florida kitchen. Overall the right teapot.

I tend to destroy tea kettles, and this one is doing just fine. No flaking inside coating which has been a problem with others, the whistler works. It's a very whimsical color but it functions great and has a large capacity.

Was looking for a back-to-basics stainless kettle and this is it. I use this kettle to heat water every morning for use in my french press. The teal color makes it nice enough to leave on the stovetop when not in use. It has a nice wide bottom (a little over 8.25 inches) that works on both the smaller, as well as the larger burners. The kettle is easy to clean, inside and out, easy to fill, and easy to pour

I have hardly used this kettle (maybe twice) and it is rusting on the inside bottom and showing marks on the outside bottom. I chose this because stainless steel should last forever and not rust. I would never buy a tea pot from Mr. Coffee again. I am disappointed that I didn't notice before the 30 day return period. It was a Christmas gift. It supposedly has a one year warranty from the manufacturer but I will probably have to return it at my own expense, which will not be worth it.

Item was beautiful and really aesthetically pleasing addition to the kitchen. However you can only fill up below the spout otherwise when it boils it will spill out from the spout. There was no whistle at all coming from mine and the handle did get quite warm.

La cafetera es muy buena, la calidad del material y toda su composición. Buena capacidad, muy ligera y resistente. Además se mira muy bonita al momento de servir el café.

I love the shape and the red colour. It has had quite a lot of use and still looks good as new. We use it on the gas stove in our caravan.
