Great for interior car touchups!
I had one button in my car that was defective and peeling. I lightly sanded and used this marker to touch it up and the matte finish honestly makes it look like new. Only up close can you really tell that it's a touchup. This was the perfect fix.

Excellent pen
Excellent pen for blackening handgun sights. Tried paint first but it did not go on smoothly, was kind of lumpy.

Fix That Will Pass Superficial Scrutiny
Recently, I moved some furniture in my living room, and ended up at one point banging my TV stand into the front of my hearth, damaging the wood stand, and a bit of the aluminum on the hearth cover. Enter Birchwood Casy Super Black Touch-Up Pen - I used this pen to cover up the scratches in the black-painted wood of the TV stand, and the black-painted aluminum on my hearth. The fix is nearly invisible from a distance, and I'm convinced that anyone who does not know the damage is there wouldn't notice it at a glance - you have to really be looking for it to see the damage under the surface of the pen's work. Great job, guys. That having been said, the pen took a while to dry, and the fumes it released during use were eye-wateringly noxious. I was worried that the scent would linger, but it faded within about a half hour. Additionally, the instructions on the back of the box say to 'depress the tip on scratch paper to start the flow of black paint', and they are absolutely not kidding - you're going to be depressing that tip on scratch paper for a solid minute or so before you start to see the ink flow. Once it starts, however, it works beautifully. Overall, a happy purchase.

It’s dry, it doesn’t work
I just received the pen and it doesn’t work. It’s absolutely dry. Tried to return it and, for some reason, I can’t. Terrible experience

Great price
Filled in the scratch perfectly. It takes some time to prime the tip. Just be patient

It works and does not come empty or dry! But the instructions are bad.
More than 10% of the reviewers could not make the pen work and assumed it was dry or empty. I thought exactly the same until I figured out what's going on: the tip of the pen is just a wick (that you can easily pull out if you want), the pen is a reservoir of paint with a metal ball inside to agitate the paint. When you press the wick into the pen it opens a valve behind it and the paint is supposed to be wicked out. The problem is the paint is very think and it takes a LONG time for the paint to start flowing into the wick and travel all the way to the tip. It might also be the case that the valve came partly blocked, I don't know. In any case here is what I did: First I tried their instructions several times with no effect -- the entire wick stayed immaculately white. Since the pen is not returnable, I decided to be a bit more forceful: I held the pen vertically with a loose fist and I let it fall on its tip on a piece of paper from 3-4 inches up maybe twenty times. At this point when I took the wick out it finally showed some black paint at its base. Woohoo! So then I just held the pen pressed down for couple more minutes until the wick was fully saturated all the way to the tip. I used it to restore an ancient (50+ years old) photo lens leather case. You can see in the before picture that it had a hinge held with some metallic rivets and the paint on the rivets was worn out. I just painted them over, without any surface cleaning. I didn't really wanted them to look new either so the result is perfect for me. If I wanted them to look newer and shinier I would probably clean the old paint to bare metal, but I am not sure how much better is possible. (In the "after" picture the leather was cleaned and waxed as well, but this has nothing to do with the BC pen.)

Punta atascada
EL plumón no funciona a su totalidad, se atasca y no permite pintar las superficies, y después se atasca y se chorrea la tinta.

Wet the tip
It takes some time to wet your tip but you have to be persistent. Once it flows the coverage is decent.
