Speedball Art Products 3062 Complete Calligraphy Kit

Great Beginner set for anyone learning basic drawing or letting with pen and ink. Decent starting nibs for lettering, but not so much for drawing or sketching. One thing that helped me was learning how to prime the nibs (see Youtube videos on setting up your nibs and sizing) and what each mark looked like first. One of the Top 5 most recommended india inks, I agree. The ink doesn't bleed through 40 lbs. mixed media paper and dries clean and even. Good ink for washes, too. Quill is super basic but sturdy enough for the job. The nibs are very flexible which isn't necessarily a good thing for last. Nibs are pretty easy to clean.

I ordered this pen set for myself before deciding to order another for a gift. This set offers a great nib starter set and easy to use instructions. I am new to the ink pen writing style and absolutely love it thanks to this pen set. It is fun and easy. I already have a favorite nib and a wish list of nibs and inks I want. This set is great for beginners and works well as a gift. If you are looking for a fun hobby, ink pens are a great creative stimuli. Will buy this brand again based on the quality of this pen and nib set.

This is a great kit for anyone who needs to start learning about calligraphy and lettering. It has all the tools you need especially the Speedball Text book that shows you the basics and the other types of lettering that you can do. My only issue with this package is that the red and blue calligraphy the ink spilled and have dried inside the collector's box (see stains in the pot holders). Both pots were half-full when I opened the package. Overall, this Collector's Kit is really good to have when you want to dive into the craft as it provides you the basic tools but with endless, creative, and design possibilities.

Firstly, I am happy with the arrival speed and the intention of offering such a set as this. Onward to the disappointments: For the price, or for any price, better packaging and collector box quality would be appreciated. This is a gift for my Dad, and each corner is nicked to varying degrees; shown are the two most blatant among them, revealing the cheapness of the material. If it is disguised particle board, please say so in the description. I ordered this set partly because it had a supposedly nice case; perhaps I should have bought a case and the supplies separately. I also hear something loose inside, presumably a nib or more. I would also suggest the insert to have been designed with room to grow, to add more nibs, penholders, etc, since I am having to devise a solution for containing (fitting within this box hopefully) some accompanying supplies I bought him. I do hope the quality of the contents exceed.

I purchased this set for my daughter for her art class. This was her first experience with calligraphy and she loved the set! It was easy to use and she had no problems with the ink or nibs. She was able to successfully learn the basics of calligraphy using this product. She said she would highly recommend it, especially for beginners. The other plus is that when she is ready to advance her skills, the company offers other nibs (tips) that can be purchased for a very reasonable price. This allows her to add to her set without having to purchase a whole new one.
