Time to up my router game
I just bought a new router and decided that it was time to improve my router techniques both hand-held and with a router table. I have read through most of the book and found it to be full of useful techniques and descriptions of router accessories. The book starts with a general description of routers and bits. It then describes the construction and use of common jigs and router tables. The rest of the book is focused on applications such as templating, surfacing, cutting dados, joinery, etc. It is a good read, full of useful illustrations, and makes a good long-term reference. Two specific highpoints:The author presents an excellent description of why a router tends to veer off course when hand-held and why the veering depends on feed direction and bit rotation direction. Understanding why leads to better techniques for controlling the router when using a fence or template. To me, this lesson was worth the cost of the book. There is a description of the design of a sled used to hold workpieces on a router table. The sled improves safety and accuracy. This proved to be a perfect solution for rounding over the edges of small parts in my application. In short, I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to up their router game.

Great Instructions and Info Regarding Router Use in Woodworking.
I am an ametuer woodworker and wanted to expand my knowledge and use of the router in my projects. I was already familiar with Bill Hylton from other books and some magazines. He has the ability to write clear & easy to understand pieces. Buying his book specifically on routers was a no brainer. I already referred to the book for instructions on cutting a large lap joint. His jig instructions were exactly what I needed. It's like having my own private instructor!

Great book with lots of information
Lots of information for an old school guy that prefers a physical book instead of digital media. Great book and a must read for first time router user. It has great ideas for projects as well as homemade router table!

If you're not using a router yet, you will when you read this!
This is just an awesome book that's all about using the router! Woodworking is my hobby and the router is probably right next to my table saw when it comes to frequency of use. There is just so much you can do and this book covers it all! From choosing the right router for the job or your level of experience to safety, hand held routing, table routing and all the different jigs, set-ups and shop projects, this book has it all. Personally, I think that routing is the most fun you can have with power tools! This book will serve as both teacher and reference guide for your shop. A great addition to any woodworkers library.

The Essential Router Companion
I am a newbie when it comes to woodworking with a router. I heartily recommend this book as a reference, especially when it comes to building router jigs that are essential for so many projects. Yes, one can buy jigs in the marketplace that will to the job, but they are pricey. The book goes into great detail about router safety, router bits, and a host of information about the versatility of this great woodworking tool.
