The Druid Magic Handbook: Ritual Magic Rooted in the Living Earth Paperback – February 1, 2008

A very clearly written, understandable, comprehensive manual on learning and practicing the druid system of magic. The author, John Michael Greer, is Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America (AODA). Therefore the specific methods described in this book are the ones used by the AODA. However, the methods of other druid societies are much the same and, as one learns from the book, the practice of magic is personal, there is no one exact way. While the description of the rituals is clear, they require extensive dedication in time and effort to master. In reading about druid magic one is also exposed to considerable history of the origins and development of modern druidism. My 5-star rating is for the clarity and readability of the text. How effective one becomes as a mage is up to the reader.

I have read and used different books and information online. I really like John Michael Greer's style of writing. He is a very educated author in the Druid practices and beliefs. I like the way he takes each area of the study and breaks them down in a very well explained manner. I would definitely recommend this if you really are serious about following the Druid Path. I have been following this path for some years and have read different books, but Greer's approach is one that will amaze you. He gets into the true heart and nature of understanding and working a Druid way of life. I intend to purchase more of his writings in the future.

I dowse so I understand there are unseen powers. Energies we can't measure. Mind over matter is real, Just as certain objects can have power if you believe they do. Staying positive is one of our greatest powers.

I keep buying this book and have completed it. Then I give it away! I keep running into people who can use the knowledge contained in this book. Here you will find the history of the Druids, how they worked and why they were so tied to the land. You will also find a list of Druid organizations throughout the world to join. So, you get to learn the basics, practice on your own then you can join a group or stay solo for as long as you want. The key is you get the tools to do the work!

The Druid Magic Handbook: Magic Rooted in the Earth: Checked this book out twice from the library and decided to buy it, used. I'm not interested in ritual magic, but the material on earth practices is worth buying the book. A good reference book and one to read to see what you missed the other times. His material is well-presented and solid.

An absolutely wonderful read for those interested in magic in the Druid Revival tradition. There are tools that are in this book that have become daily practices for me. The book contains information on Ogham, the Sphere of Protection, natural magic, and so much more. The advanced work at the end of the book is really fantastic!

I believe this is the go to book for beginners if you are trying to learn about druidism and it's philosophy and ideas behind it. Very good read and interesting.
