Good introduction, but lacks detail
I'm surprised to see all the five-star reviews for this book. It's a good introduction, and the color photos are helpful, but it is severely lacking in detail compared to the Lonely Planet Tanzania guide. To give you an idea of the differences, I breezed through the entire Insight Guides book in one evening, but it took me a day and a half to get through the Lonely Planet book. I also feel like this book devotes too many pages to topics like history and culture rather than what travelers need to know. I understand those are interesting to learn about, but they won't help you plan your trip, which, after all, is the whole point of a travel guide

zanzibar and tanganyika holiday
This was the best guide book which I have ever bought. Loved the pictures and the interesting way it has been presented. The book came in very handy while on holidays and was well used. Would like to point out though that the title is incorrect - it should read Tanzania (including Zanzibar) or Tanzania (Tanganyika and Zanzibar). Have spent a lot of time just reading the book as it is very interesting.

Excellent Guide
I just returned from a safari in Tanzania with my two granddaughters, 14 and 17, and we used this book extensively. The girls marked the text and photos of things they learned and saw. The ONLY reason I'm giving this book four rather than five stars is it took me forever to locate the publication date, which is buried in text on the last page. 2013 makes the book still relevant. I highly recommend the book to anyone traveling to Tanzania.
