EP8706 Digital Psychrometer , Black

I bought this instrument to calibrate my new Davis weather station. I also bought the 33% and the 75% humidity calibration kits from Ambient Weather.I'm very happy with the EP8706. It reads to one-tenth of a percent humidity and one-tenth of a degree Fahrenheit and has nearly instantaneous response time for both humidity and temperature.Humidity calibration of the EP8706 is simple, but the cal kits must be purchased separately. The Ambient Weather cal kits that I bought include a transparent zip-top bag for each cal point that's large enough to put the EP8706 inside and seal it up. The button-presses needed to carry out the cal cycle are easily done right through the zip-top bag. Several vendors offer small "pill-box" calibrators, but I wasn't sure the EP8760's probe would fit the small hole in the "pill-box" properly, so I went with the zip-top bag type. Once you place the instrument inside the bag and seal it closed you can move it around and handle it without being concerned about compromising the cal cycle.No temp calibration is available on the EP8706, but when it's compared to an NIST-traceable lab-quality Omega HH21 thermocouple thermometer they agree within two-tenths of a degree.My new Davis weather station was within Davis' tech specs when it was shipped, and now I'm confident that it's humidity and temperature data is as accurate as it can possibly be.Ed

I have had this for a year now - love it.I check dry bulb and humidity level for maintaining my piano.Works good, instrument is durable, and it is very accurate.Uses a battery, which I have not yet had to change.

Ambient temperature is off by 10 degrees F, right out of the box so I can't trust any other readings on this toy grade device. Had it as a backup, so I didn't try to use it until way after return and warranty options were expired. Now I have to buy another meter and this sure was a poor choice for a backup. Opened it up for the possibility of a temperature potentiometer, no luck; Sticker inside was marked: made in 2003, calibrated in 2005; Then sold as new on Amazon in 2013. I will try to use it with the external temperature probe and/or with correction factors if it tracks and correlates to a decent reference meter. I will not invest in having it calibrated.

I work in the HVAC trade and been putting this through it's paces. So far, so good. Tested it's accuracy against a friends psychrometer and it tested real comparable. Haven't used the salt test yet, but my friend just calibrated his recently. I like the ease of use better than his. Will see how it lasts over time.

This is essentially a bit of a thermometer. This will measure Temperature(Dry Bulb), Dew point, Wet-Bulb, Humidity, Man/Min Temperatures and will convert the calculated values in your choice of Fahrenheit and Celsius where applicable. Quite useful when you lack internet or tools that display these elements.

the humidity is consistently off. but better than nothing. I would estimate that it is off by 5 points of relative humidity. for an accurate psychrometer you will pay a lot more.

I purchased this about 3 years ago, and it is still very accurate and reliable. I use it almost every day, and it travels across the country with me.

Works as advertised. Measured with other devices this one is very accurate. Will be a great portable/mobile psychrometer. I like the ability to change modes.
