Easy way to introduce your dog to Food puzzles
My dog, a skittish miniature Dachshund, hasn’t done well with food puzzles. The rolling ball that drops kibble frightened her. Kongs? Nope. But one day, a piece of her treat fell under the couch. Even though I retrieved it for her, she tried to ‘find’ it for days. So I thought it would be good to find a food puzzle that would help bring out a sense of play in her and to challenge her. I like this puzzle. It comes with instuctions on how to introduce the puzzles to your dog. For instance, for the sliding pieces, leave the slots open a bit so she can see the treat. After she starts getting it, close the covers. The first time we played with this, my dog was (unsurprisingly) afraid of it. But she saw me dropping treats into the holes, and she HAD to come close. For Day 1, I ust left everything open. Same with Day 2. Day 3, I started closing the sliding covers, leaving them slightly ajar. And so on. We’ve had this less than a week, and she’s now pawing at the toy—something she has NEVER done. And because of that action, she was able to access the hardest puzzle—the bone lever cover! I’m very pleased that she’s no longer afraid of the toy, that she’s motivated to find the treats, and she’s figuring out the mechanics. It’s exactly what I was hoping for! She may master this too quickly, but it will still be a fun ‘hunt’ for her. As she ages, I’m trying to keep her mind sharp by introducing new challenges. I’m glad I picked this one!

My puppy is borderline genius
My new puppy is borderline genius, or so I thought when I got this toy and BAM!!!! She mastered this thing in a matter of minutes! So I got back online to find the next level for my super smart six month old puppy. I started reading the other reviews to see if anyone else with a genius dog has any suggestions. I didn't want to waste any time, as I was thinking she may end up in the movies someday! Then my "genius puppy mom" bubble was burst when I read that most of the other dogs, even pugs (you have to read the pug mom review, so funny), had no problem figuring this out. I went ahead and ordered the next level anyway, because who knows, our friends and neighbors may not read Amazon reviews and I can still make them believe I have a little genius puppy. Plus, she has a lot of fun with this and we have just as much fun watching her. I think it makes her feel really smart and that is good for her self esteem. MORE ABOUT THE TOY: The toy is really durable with a hard weighted plastic and rubber bottom to keep it from sliding around. The sliders all slide easily and the little doors lift easily and don't get stuck. The two top pieces that lift off can easily be knocked over by the dog and my little Chorkie doesn't mark them up when chewing on them as the plastic is very hard. IMPORTANT NOTE: There are two pieces on this that can possibly be a choking hazard for a larger dog. These pieces are too big for my six pound Chorkie to choke on, but I would never let my larger 90 lb dog near this if he were still alive. THE TRUTH: She really is smart though. She rings the doorbell to go outside to potty and does her business on a faux grass pad on the patio. She can also roll over, spin around, high five, sit, shake hands and lay down,.....all with voice or hand signals! Now if I could just teach her not to bark at every little thing! But remember, she is a genius and very alert and aware of everything going on around her, lol. My son is really smart too, ....lol,.....typical mommy!!!

My Dog LOVES This Game!
Responsible pet guardians make sure their dogs have food, water, affection, and exercise. This product exercises doggy BRAINS! That's right, by encouraging your dog to work puzzles like the Trixie Flip Board, you can help your furry pal improve his/her problem-solving abilities. It also helps relieve boredom and provides a bonding activity. I bought this game for my Rottweiler puppy & she loved it from the minute we took it out of the box. I hid the treats in the little slots for her to find and only had to show her how it worked once, then she had it. From that point on, it was a daily ritual for us. (Okay, we often played several times a day.) Now that she's all grown up & enormous, she still loves this game. If you have medium-sized dog(s), it should certainly endure plenty of wear from your family. Small children should be supervised when playing this game with the family dog, as some dogs get over-excited about treats. If you do happen to have a food-aggressive dog, your family can still enjoy this product. Have an adult or older child put the treats in (out of the dog's view) before setting it down, and the younger kiddos can encourage the dog from the safety of the couch. Be sure to put the game AWAY when not in use, or you'll find, as I did, that your dog has gotten it out by herself, and spread the pieces everywhere while waiting for you to set it up. This flip board is very sturdy and has held up well for us. I recommend it, and hope you have as much fun as we have. When your dog has mastered this game, please get the next level. Who knows? You might have a canine genius in your family!

Great for bored dogs
Great dog puzzle! My pup loves this, he did chew the peg portion once he got them out so they can be put back in. They are tough for small dogs to get out so I think he plotted it out.

Came broken
Mine came broken but i still let my puppy try it and she seemed to enjoy the challenge. The whole board is a bit small compared to many other puzzle boards/toys. It does have a rubber ring to help keep it from sliding.

Level 2 is too easy and breaks easy. Level 3 chess is where it's at!
2 Separate reviews because I bought 2 of the options. Returned the level 2 puzzle because food fell through the spaces and a couple of weeks later one of the parts broke off during normal use. I think another reviewer had the same issue with the exact same piece breaking. REVIEW #1 ☆: Got this "level 2" puzzle for my 1 yr old cat. He's not an especially smart cat breed or anything, just a regular domestic medium hair cat... I put his treats in this thing and right away he got them all out. 😑 It took him like a minute to get them all, and I thought the bone switches would be hardest for him but no, those were the first thing he figured out after watching me use them to put the treat in. It's pretty easy. There is a flaw, too: there's space where treats can fall through and end up underneath the puzzle, where they'd have to flip the whole thing over to get them. It's pretty light and the pieces are very easy to move. REVIEW #2 ☆☆☆☆☆: this is for the level 3 chess tray that is in the picture i uploaded. Love this one. Treats don't get trapped in this one, and my cat has figured out most of it over time. Hes not a special breed, just a regular fluffy black cat. It's a little more difficult than level 2. I can see him working through it, but it's not impossible or too frustrating. There's 12 spaces for treats (6 trays, 2 treats spaces per tray). My cat has yet to figure out how to move the knob to get to the last 2 trays, which is good, gives him something to do work on when he's bored!

4 Month Old Lab loves this!
Our 4 month old lab doesn't have a typical yard to play in and as such, we have to be extra sure to give him all the exercise he needs, not just physically but mentally! With that in mind I knew I had to get him some toys to play with and while we got all the normal ones, I wanted to try this treat puzzle! Amazon is weird, they shipped it without an outer box, as in just slapped a shipping label on this product box. It worked out but goodness I am glad it wasn't a birthday gift for one of the kids! The puppy who is a yellow lab (A Dudley) was so interested in the box, as if he knew it was for him. The kids were all excited to. We filled it with treats and put it in his crate! You see he doesn't love his crate, he doesn't like to be more then 2 feet from his boy! This works out ok as his boy is homeschooled so is home often and takes his dog where ever he can with him. However some classes are out of the house and not all friends can have a puppy in the house when my son goes to play there. This makes the puppy upset. I thought perhaps puzzle toys would help keep him busy. The puppy had this solved in 3 minutes flat. I thought maybe one of the kids helped him as we kept the crate door open as part of the plan to make him comfy in there. So we tried again in the middle of the room, sure enough, he got it all done. He used his paws and his nose and had no issues with it. He loves it! This toy is fantastic! Puppy does though chew on the switches so this isn't a toy that can be left out with the puppy. Your dog might not do this! It is also not really weighted and can flop around if your dog is big and rough. Might be best for a smaller dog but we like it for our big one! Just not going to use it as I first imagined it. We still use it every other day or so! Look forward to getting harder ones!

Can also be used as a rat toy!
I'm sure this would be great for dogs, but I got it for my pet rats. It's just the right size for the rats to use. And rats enjoy learning and taking on new challenges, so this was a fun toy to get for them. The toy consists of three challenges: knocking over plastic knobs (easy), learning how to slide the plastic pieces back and forth (medium difficulty), and using a lever to open a small door (most difficult). My two boys had a really fun time figuring this out. The first time I used it, I put some small pieces of walnut in it. They quickly learned to knock over the plastic things in the middle, and they eventually figured out the part with the sliding pieces, but it took them a long time to figure out how to use the levers. I initially put the toy in their cage and left it for a couple hours, checking to see their progress. It did take them about two hours to finally get every piece of food out. Now, though, I put their normal food in the toy sometimes when I feed them, and they can find all the food within minutes. Even though they've figured it out, I think they still enjoy the physical and mental challenge of all the moving pieces. I've noticed them bruxing each time I put the toy in front of them! As far as cleaning, it's very easy. They pee on it sometimes, but I just soak it in some hot soapy water, and brush out all the little pieces, rinse, and it's as good as new. Also, my rats are over three years old-- they're little senior citizens. They have no problem using the toy, even though they are old and somewhat weak. It'd be fun to see younger rats/babies try to figure out the toy!

Great enrichment toy – keeps my dog engaged and mentally stimulated
This is a fantastic intelligence toy and well worth the purchase. It’s sturdy, well made, and easy to clean, which is a big plus. My dog took to it quickly and really enjoys figuring out how to move the sliders to get the treats out. It’s great for mental stimulation, especially on days when walks are shorter, and it definitely helps keep boredom at bay. I like that it’s challenging without being frustrating, and you can adjust how you use it depending on your dog’s experience level. Overall, this is a brilliant activity toy for keeping dogs entertained and mentally engaged. I’d highly recommend it for dogs who enjoy puzzles or need extra enrichment.
