Roller Ball Pen with FP ink, I enjoy it
Iโm a fountain pen person, but needed a good rollerball for when Iโm handing a patient a pen or when Iโm in a gorilla grip mood on a pen. Love it! All my pens now are truly refillable, which I love for the planet! Itโs a broad writer considering what I used to where with but I do enjoy it, probably a M/B point. I have had patients who stop writing with it to complement, but I wish it was a F point, personally. Not scratchy for sure! Pulls straight lines and doesnโt skip when it has adequate ink, though it will when it starts to get low, but thanks to the clear barrel you can tell that is why. It is certainly a posted pen, meaning you want to put the cap on the end for the full length pen, otherwise it might be uncomfortable, but as I am someone who posts their pens it is not a bother for me. I did buy the converter and I wish Herbin had a better designed one as it has a very small reservoir, one I can definitely use in a day or some days half a day depending on how busy I am, so I might look for a better designed one, for the larger reservoir, or I refill midday. There is a full size pen available for this reason I believe

Works as advertised, feels cheap, not a very fine tip
I have mixed feelings about this pen. On one hand, it does what it says. Easily refillable, writes well, takes fountain pen ink etc. The color and style is what you expect. In the hand though, it feels very cheap. It does not feel like it will last a very long time unless it lives its life in a drawer unused. While it writes well, the line it produces is not very fine. I would consider it more of a medium with no way to adjust or order a finer tip. While this was a decent way to check out a different style of pen from the typical fountain pens and ballpoints, its definitely a case of getting what you pay for. Maybe even a bit overpriced.

Liquid ink rollerballs are genius but shouldnโt cost so much to use
To buyers & manufacturers- great idea : these many new liquid ink rollerballs- and this one is Very nice to use To be able to write smoothly w/o scratchy cheap fountain pens w a smooth rollerballโ- a dream But a better rollerball than this is needed Hope they refine- The pleasure of using an โinexpensive liquid ink rollerballโ is spoiled by the overall costs of this product It was easy to hold & ink flowed well w good script - in short - was great!- However it needs work - esp in overall cost / ie., refills Using this pen for a year exceeds use of a moderately priced fountain pens w or w/o refill needs So - using this innovation -costs more than it should & isnโt worth it Yet Yes those tiny refills- &/or ink/w piston- are French & charming- but cost too much overall & make this pen just a pen fiends pen BL Co, needs larger refills or cheaper piston/ink for an eco- friendly, pen w an advantage The fact that it writes so well imight seem worth extra money but not 2-3x more given cost of ink to use pen - Right now 3 months of refills or ink would equal that of a new pen Thatโs not your idea is it?

Good quality fountain pen
This is perfect for a purse or pocket. The nib is EF and writes fine without skipping or scratching.

disappointing
really scratchy, doesnโt hold color in too well, skips when writing, wouldnโt recommend.

Short doesn't last long
Just want to start off I really really wanted this to work for me. So I work in a lab and we have to write in notebooks all day logging samples in, writing information down etc. Its a lot of writing, but honestly I would think if I took into how many pages in a notebook I write a day it would contain roughly maybe 15 pages if each line was filled and thats pushing it. The ink is inconsistent its either too thin or way too thick. It writes scratchy and skips occassionally. I go through a cartridge a day in an 8 hour shift. After my 3rd cartridge change the pen bled out and because I had it open in my lab coat pocket it bled onto the coat. It's also super short you defeinitely need to keep the cap attached at the end to give it more length to write with.

Love it!!
A real liquid ink cartridge rollerball pen... what can I say other than awesome. I wanted the fountain pen ink feel without really having to use a fountain pen and this is it. Smooth writing and easy to use. This has a fine nib, which is perfect for when I need to draw some diagrams along with notes. I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for the real ink feel, but don't want the trouble of a fountain pen.

Too scratchy and inconsistent to use
This nib is incredibly scratchy and the ink comes out poorly. I have tried multiple inks, fixing the nib, cleaning the pen, but it just is never going to work. I like the shape and the clear barrel though!

Lovely pen
I was wary of getting this as many reviewers had said how scratchy the rollerball is, but I'm glad I decided to try it for myself. I've loaded it with J. Herbin ink (scented lavender) and have found it nothing but a pleasure to use. Personally I have to "post the cap" (put the cap on the end of the pen) to make it longer as I have large hands and the pen is a little short if I don't, however it's still just long enough to be able to use. I find it a better weight posted as well as the pen is very light without the cap. The rollerball seems very smooth, granted it can be a little "creaky" on some strokes, but it's not a massive problem for me. For some reason a lot of rollerballs are a little noisy. As a fountain pen user I don't press down very hard anyway so maybe that is helpful in it not scratching as others have described. It lays down a good amount of ink, too much for some thinner paper, but fountain pens can do that as well, so it's not a problem with the pen itself (some paper is just made for ballpoints it seems). The clip is firm but not tight, so it holds well on just one sheet of regular A4 paper and is very smooth so doesn't tear when removed. It also held on well to the thick cardboard backing of a notebook and the thin plastic front cover as well. Overall I really like it and will definitely be getting more in the future.

The Feder is very fine.
The Feder is very fine, much finer than a usual EF feder, probably is similar to a Platinum Preppy, 0.3 ~0.5mm.

Pen without Purpose
Hello, So I purchased the J. Herbin Fountain Pen and after receiving it, here are my views about the pen, the seller and amazon. Well to start off, no issues with Amazon as usual. Quick, hassle free delivery as usual. The seller PENSAVENUE are highly reputed in the FP community atleast here in India and they have a wide variety of products and my experience with them has been ALMOST positive. Now to talk about the pen, it came with one of the worst packaging I have seen. No case or anything. The pen was wrapped in bubble wrap directly and sent. But no damage or anything of that sorts. Just not appealing and expected atleast a plastic cover/case around the pen. The other aspect everyone should be aware of is that this is NOT an EYEDROPPER type pen. Atleast not intended to be so. But this is misleading as the product is described as a clear demonstrator and comes WITHOUT THE INCLUSION of a cartridge or converter (which in my fair opinion should have been included). Due to that one can easily make the assumption that it is meant to be an ED converter, but can't be as there are 3 breather holes at the bottom of the barrel so the ink would all leak out. Another very disappointing thing with this pen is its Nib. It is very scratchy and literally tears through the paper. It isn't very pleasant to write with as there is constant feedback and due to the nib being Extremely Rough. The main job of a Fountain Pen is that the nib is smooth and that it writes, and this pen fails at the former. Now I don't know that if I got unlucky with my pen or that all nibs are the same but whatever maybe the reason, one thing is certain that the pens don't go through a quality control process or aren't checked before being dispatched, which is for a Big name like PENSAVENUE a negative. What I do like about this pen and this is with certainty is the size and it's simplistic design and looks. The pen is a Mini pen or a pocket pen and is a Clear Demonstrator type Fountain Pen which I always like. The pen balances well in the hand and feels comfortable to hold. You can post the pen securely and it becomes a normal sized FP. It has a metallic clip which adds a little contrast and breaks the all-plastic monotony and goes well with the overall aesthetics. Unfortunately for me though, the pen won't be seeing much action due to the bad nib I got, but then again I might just have been unlucky with my purchase and the other ones might have a better writing nib (Just Positive Speculation). Nevertheless, overall, this is a nice small, fun sized fountain pen. For those of you who don't know J. Herbin manufactures really good inks and they are one of the oldest ink making companies. In totality J. Herbin have only made about 2-3 fountain pens and I personally think that they should stick to making only inks. I hope this was useful. Thank you. J. Herbin Fountain Pen
