Mountain Fruit Company -True Rhubarb Jam (2 Jars)

I love, love, love this Rhubarb Jam! It’s exactly what I was looking for! They call it a jam, but IMO it’s more like a fruit sauce. It’s sweet and sour and that’s exactly what I crave. I bought this the 1st time, the 2 pack even though I cringed at the price. Being retired on a fixed income it’s something I really can’t afford. At $10 for a small jar I can only buy this occasionally as a treat for myself and tried to no avail to make it last awhile. It is absolutely heaven warmed up a little bit in the microwave and poured on vanilla ice cream or I like it best with frozen vanilla yogurt. I love my rhubarb to be as sour as it is sweet and not too thick and gunky. I dislike very sweet “anything” and its so difficult to find Rhubarb products by itself. The past decade or 2, it’s been impossible to find Rhubarb without it being ruined by adding strawberries. I love strawberries but not in my Rhubarb!!! The strawberries totally ruin it and overpower the rhubarb so you can’t tell there’s any rhubarb in there at all. You can’t even find rhubarb pie anymore without it being ruined by the addition of strawberries. Well, a month ago I was looking to buy some more of this and it was flagged that it wasn’t available at the time. So since I was craving the rhubarb sauce I decided to google to find another top notch rhubarb sauce. I used all the info I had available to find another one. I compared ingredients, reviews, size, calories, price etc... I probably spent 2-3 hours researching as I watched tv. I to my surprise, found one that I thought was comparable with all the bells and whistles that I’m looking for! Oh boy, whew did I feel good I found one that was twice as much for less $. Even though I felt like I’d done all I could do to make a good decision on this 2nd brand a tiny little voice kept nagging me, not constantly but off and on while I’m waiting for it to be delivered, hoping it wouldn’t be gaggingly sweet and sayin to myself, no you made an informed decision, it’ll be fine. As long as there’s no strawberries, even if it’s a bit sweeter then I like. BUT NO!! Not even close. When I opened one of the jars just to taste it I wasn’t intending to use it at that time but I couldn’t wait to see if I’d wasted $20. I WASTED $20 🥴 It was so sweet and only had a hint of the flavor rhubarb. So now I have 2 jars of 16oz JELLY. I just don’t know who to share these things with but don’t like to toss them. Family and friends live far away and neighbors are varied races and cultures. Well I feel there’s always that vague “uneasy“ feeling when buying something we haven’t payed our hands on! I love having online shopping, a little too much!!

The jam is pure sunshine in a bottle! It’s not colored to fake red. Which I appreciate very much. Then we get on with taste - toast with butter and a generous spread of jam. WOW!!! Every tastebud is singing joyous sounds. The jam is the best one I have found anywhere and I have tried each and every type that I can. So when I found this…I was anticipating tart and simple. With first opening the smell was divine joy. You will not be disappointed when you purchase if you are looking for true, simple rhubarb that is not overly sweet. It goes with breakfast breads, turkey avocado toast! Apricot jam and the Rhubarb jam mixed lightly place between warm bread and a thinly slice of harvati cheese ! Delicious, delectable, joyful, smile inducing , and my favorite to grab anytime. Maybe though if you have a large household you may want 2 as they go fast because even the pickiest of tastebuds love it. So loved we have it on subscription!

I hat ruhbarb. But my sister loves it and of the one's I have scent she likes this brand the best. She say just the right amount of sour and sweet. This is my second purchase and will continue to whenever she runs low.

What a shame, and really, for shame. Purchased in the stores, like Gelson‘s, or Bristol foods, this is bright, lively, and magical tasting. I make rhubarb quite often, but it is very time intensive, so finding it high-quality in a jar was a revelation. However, purchased through Amazon, this was pitiful; when I opened it, it was stale, pale, and pasty. I would say that it was flavorless, except that it did have a profile of something you would use to coat your walls before applying wallpaper. On my invoice, it said it was returnable by a certain date, but when I clicked the button, no love. So I was stuck with the outrageously priced jar of pink paste, which is 50% higher than the price I paid in the retail store. I should give it an extra star, however, as it does come in handy when I need something heavy to help with my shoulder exercises.

Flavor exploded in my mouth! Sweet and sour simultaneously. Consistency is smooth throughout, color natural (no chemical brighteners), It is expensive compared to the typical grocery store jams or preserves, but will buy again. I highly recommend it, even if just for a special treat. As diabetic and eating it with bread, had to pair it with peanut butter to avoid spikes. Will test how much I can load onto a slice.

Mild Rhubarb flavor and a consistency similar to Apple Butter. That means that is doesn't just run off of, e.g., a piece of toast. The product photo is highly misleading. The preserves are basically Beige in color, not very appetizing necessarily but it is what it is. The preserves are not the color for fresh Rhubarb as suggested. I previously purchased another brand of Rhubarb preserves that was a nearly clear puree with a more appetizing color and with a strong Rhubarb flavor but it was runny and useless for use on baked goods or the like.

I literally buy a new jar the second I'm down to one because this jam is my entire personality at this point. Like, do you understand how much I love this jam?? And now—now it’s YELLOW. It’s all pale and weird and has air bubbles and just sloshes around like it’s confused about what it's supposed to be?? My old jar (yes, I still have it, don't judge) is thick, rich, red, and perfect. This new one looks like it’s been ghosted by flavor. I saw another review with the same yellow mess so now I’m spiraling because WHAT IF THIS IS PERMANENT??? What if they changed it??? What am I supposed to spread on toast now—regret?? Anyway. I attached a photo so you can see the betrayal with your own eyes. Please tell me this is just a mistake and not, like, the death of my favorite jam. No one understands what I'm going through. 😩

The jam is ok, a bit tart as you'd expect, yet the color suggested by the pics you see on amazon is NOT the hue of the actual product. It is a lifeless washed out yellow green, yet somehow duller than any descriptor I can manage to offer.
