Three volumes in one! A prestige treatment of Inoue’s epic samurai series with bonus content, color pages, storyboard samples and more! Real-life figure Miyamoto Musashi was the most celebrated samurai of all time. The quintessential warrior-philosopher, Musashi authored A Book of Five Rings , a classic treatise in the canon of world philosophy and military strategy. But the path to enlightenment is an endless journey, and to get there through violent means--by way of the sword--makes mere survival an even greater challenge. Invincible Under the Sun At seventeen years of age, Miyamoto Musashi--still known by his childhood name, Shinmen Takezō--was a wild young brute just setting out along the way of the sword. In the aftermath of the epic Battle of Sekigahara, Takezō finds himself a fugitive survivor on the losing side of the war. Takezō's vicious nature has made him an outcast even in his own village, and he is hunted down like an animal. At this crucial crossroads in Takezō's life, an eccentric monk and a childhood friend are the only ones who can help him find his way. Review: 3 IN ONE VAGABOND VOLUME - One of the prized possessions in my manga collection is "Vagabond," created by the talented Takehiko Inoue, who is also known for his popular series "Slam Dunk." "Vagabond" is a captivating tale inspired by the life of Miyamoto Musashi, a legendary swordsman in feudal Japan. Inoue's storytelling in "Vagabond" is nothing short of captivating. Through his vivid characters and intense plotlines, he explores themes of personal growth, inner strength, and the pursuit of excellence. Each volume of "Vagabond" not only entertains but also educates, as Inoue meticulously incorporates historical details and cultural insights into the narrative. What truly sets "Vagabond" apart is Inoue's artwork. His mastery of the pen and brush brings the world of feudal Japan to life with stunning detail. From breathtaking landscapes to intense sword fights, every panel is a testament to his skill and dedication. As a fan, I find myself deeply immersed in Musashi's journey with each new volume of "Vagabond." Inoue's ability to blend history with fiction creates a reading experience that is both enriching and emotionally resonant. I eagerly look forward to adding more volumes of "Vagabond" to my collection, knowing that each one will continue to inspire and captivate with Inoue's exceptional storytelling and artistic brilliance. Review: Amazing Manga - Vagabond, Vol. 1 is one of the most beautiful pieces of manga I have ever read and seen. The first in a 12-volume omnibus series, Inoue Takehiko has created something truly special for readers. Set in the aftermath of the Battle of Sekigahara, the story follows a young man (Shinmen Takezo) who strives to rise from his misfortune (being on the losing side) to become the greatest warrior in the land. Here are the pros and cons of this work below: Pros *Fascinating era and place (early Edo-era Japan, 1600s) *Beautiful artwork - Composed of three volumes, each opening chapter (by volume) opens with a exquisite series of color panels. Drawn in a realistic yet stylized art form, Vagabond oozes with detail from the detailed expression of emotion on character's faces to the flick of grass on the forest floor. The artwork seems to come alive! *Character development - All the discussion of artwork should not distract from the excellent display of character arc. The protagonist, despite being a prodigy in combat, is one whom continually struggles to deal with his sense of identity and mission. From the beginning of this volume to the end, Takezo changes as a person. Cons *Virtually none Summary As a piece of Historical Fiction, this volume is highly recommended. As a manga, it is highly recommended. As a piece of literature and artwork, it is highly recommended. Need I say more?

The Best Manga I've Ever Read
Vagabond reaches S trier in terms of quality. From the book itself, to the artwork and wording. A daunting book at a glance, it reads very fast, all whille having gorgeous art on display. The artwork of this manga is so far above any other manga it feels like it's in a league of its own. The attention to detail and expressionist design is better than the rest. Going beyond its very well introduced story, it doesn't take low hanging fruit. Choosing to take the high road in all situations, touching on eastern philosophy and historical accuracy with a metaphorical structure to its plot. This is my favorite manga. From the core message, to its art style and the character arcs, its just one of those times everything comes together and feels timeless.

Epic tale of a young Ronin/Vagabond
This series is epic. I saw it at a barnes and nobles and after reading the first chapter I had to buy it. The art is impossible to put into words and the story is epic. This series is for mature readers. In the first volume alone Takezo cuts down over a hundred men. After completing the first Vizbig, I quickly bought the other 10 Vizbigs and was worth every penny. The story starts after in rural japan after a war. Takezo and his friend Matahachi are on the losing side and are on their way home. But getting back home is a dangerous journey, Because Takezo's side lost the survivors are killed. So on there way home they run into enemies and Takezo kills them hith some huge boulders. After this Takezo and Matahachi run into a bandit group and Takezo cuts down all the bandits with a wooden training sword. The first volue alone was amazing and the rest of the series so far is epic. And the character development is outstanding. If you like blood, gore, and samurais then you will love this series.

the most beautiful manga series of all time
i’ve already had the pleasure of finishing this story, just now collecting it for myself. not to be dramatic but this is easily the most incredible series i’ve ever laid eyes on. the detail in the art, the movement of the fight scenes, the complex characters, the dialogue, the story itself. i genuinely cannot dote on this series enough. if, for some reason, you have not read vagabond yet… please take this as your sign to do so. (warning: will raise the standards for any manga series you may read in the future)

Epic masterpiece
I'd never heard of Vagabond before, and the cover image popped up when I was looking for something else. It seemed interesting enough to give it a try, largely based on one great review and that cover. And what a find it was. It boasts absolutely gorgeous art (to a rarely seen standard!), an engaging story line and a gallery of interesting characters, each lovingly drawn (even one-off characters have clearly distinct faces). It's the kind of manga that's not only beautiful and gripping, but also makes you think. Started reading it at 10pm and next thing I know it was half past 3am... I didn't notice the time go by, and it was totally worth losing sleep over. This edition has great production quality, arrived in great condition and I'd actually give it more than 5 stars if that were an option. There should be an extra star just for the way the eyes are drawn *shiver*.

Good for the most part.
The book came a bit warped. Packaging should be better. The book was fine otherwise.

Excellent
This is an excellent beginning to a story. The art, story, character development all top notch. I'm a newbie in the manga world and stories like this will make me a true fan. I already read the first 3 volumes and will finish the story in no time.

One of the Greatest pieces of fiction I have ever read
Not a review on this volume specifically, but this series as a whole is one of the most extraordinary things I've ever read. Right up there with Berserk. The art is breathtaking and does just as much storytelling as the actual writing, the story of Musashi is a beautiful one and this series can definitely inspire a new outlook on life. Couldn't recommend it anymore!

Edizione fantastica
Arrivato in anticipo sulla data stimata. Condizioni perfette. L’edizione è ottima: formato più grande di un classico volume “deluxe”, sovraccopertina semirigida non rimovibile, pagine a colori originali conservate… anche il prezzo è tutto sommato buono.
