Are these filters compostable?

Definitely not compostable. They look and feel like filter fabric you use around a drainage pipe. I know that sounds weird, but that's the only way I know how to describe it.

What are these made from? They seem plastic. What type of plastic is used?

They are not plastic. They seem thicker than cheesecloth. Super convenient to use.

Was the paper bleached?

It may have been since it was white and not brown but I think that pack was a synthetic something. Maybe I ordered paper in that quantity but I don't remember. If you live anywhere near Socorro NM I will give all of my things away as I am not making iced coffee any more. I just used cold brewed coffee and add ice.
