Crankbrothers Multi Tool M 17 Gold

This thing is perfect size, I was worried about getting one with more functions and tools due to the size however they really did pack it all in! This multitool has some weight to it but not in a bad way, it literally fits in my tiny pouch along with my bike pump, and other miscellaneous items, that’s how small it is! Thankfully I haven’t had to use it on the trail yet but I love all the different size hex screwdrivers because my bike has a lot of different sizes. It also has a chain breaker which I also have not had to use. This tool is easy to use and heavy duty and should last me a long long time!

Incredibly well made; entirely metal so won't break like other models made with plastic parts. Yeah this is a "buy it for life" multitool. I also find it inexpensive for its quality.

I had the misfortune of gettign a stick in my derailleur and it just snapping into pieces all over the trail. Massive bummer. On the side of the trail I pulled out my tool kit, only to realize I didn't have the ONE tool I needed to resize my chain- a chain breaker. Dejected, I pulled my bussted derailleur off my bike, zip tied my cable to the bike and pulled the quick link and tossed the chain and busted derailleur in my bag. Then I started to walk. After several folks asking me if I was okay or if I needed help, none of them had a chain breaker, that is until a angel appeared, who I now know as Good Gary, had this exact tool. With his help, I resized my chain and got back on my way. I pedaled the last 7 miles home in one gear. I got home and ordered the exact same tool Good Gary had, this tool. Killer. It got me out of a jam, and I vow to stop and offer assistance to anyone I see walking their bike on trail. Thanks Crank Bros and Good Gary- the right tool when I needed it and the knowledge to use it. Boom back on my bike.

Please note that this tool does not replace any of the ones that you would typically use back at home for more thorough repairs, but is perfect in a pinch. As far as some of the other reviewer's have noted, there seems to be some who have complained about the durability of the tool. If used properly, and at a correct angle to avoid stripping the individual tips, the tool should last a considerably long time. As far as the weight is concerned, I was blown away by how light it was. The way some have complained, you would think that it weighed a few pounds or more. I would say it weighs exactly what it should for something that is both durable, and functional. It's small, it's handy, it's durable, and it's perfect for what it's used for. Just don't let it get wet and rust, and make sure that the hex bolts on the side are kept tight from time to time. Take care of it, and it will take care of you for a very long time.
