This machete is a great size and is very sharp. It's also flexible enough that I don't worry about breaking it off while hacking through the bush along the edges of our farm's fields. The sheath is decent but the little strap that secures the machete got caught on a branch and tore off in my first hack through the woods hunting hickory nuts. Bummer.

Can't really complain since this thing costs less than a meal nowadays, but you can't really sharpen this machete because of how thin it is. I've tried once with a whetstone, but it seemed like the edge was getting way too brittle for my liking so I stopped. The saw is a nice touch but you don't really get enough leverage since you can only have one hand on the handle and one holding the log/stick whatever. It still worked but at that point just get a regular camp saw. It did nice in cutting though moderate foliage when it was sharp, but once it got dull it was assigned to sawing duty.

This is a mainstay for me when camping or bushwhacking to get to those favorite fishing holes. The saw works really well--it's hard work, but you can cut through 4- to 6-inch logs relatively easily, provided you source properly dry deadfall. I've tried other sawback brands/designs and this is the only one that really gets the job done. Bought my first Gerber Gator back in 2010 and finally had to replace it last year (2023) because the teeth on the saw had dulled. Absolutely nothing beats a chainsaw, but if you're backpacking or just wanting to "go native," this blade will do the job.

Love this product! Its got the right weight to swing ratio . But on my last excrison i bent the edeg of my blade . I just wonder ifthis has the Gerber lifetime guarantee? I will be buy another one even if not under the guarantee program

I've using machetes since childhood, mostly removing bushes in the Caribbean. This machete is not only easy to handle but lightweight and very sharp. The saw is incredibly sharp. The handle is comfortable. I use it to shop old shipping pallets to use as firewood. The sheath is very well made and stiff enough to for protection. It has a sturdy belt loop. However because of the thinest of the blade, I do NOT recommend it for splitting wood except for producing kindle.

Very good machete. Cleared lots of bush and cut lots of wood with it and still going strong and sharp. Only a few dents so far and I have really put it through the durability test.
