Beautiful! Follow the instructions! Thriving for 4 years now!
These are awesome! After about 6 weeks of having these they have doubled in size. I've placed a couple orders and they were both great. The first order was a bit thin, but over a few weeks filled in beautifully. It seems they started out a but stressed but if you follow Joel's instructions to the letter, they will take off and do great. My second order was even better - looked awesome and still are doing great. It is really not a tough plant to grow - they just need very very specific conditions. I would suggest getting some of Joel's bigger net pots and moss to put them in. They look better with a bit of space. Joel is also great with questions. But just as he suggests - read his instructions and follow them to the letter! He really cares about his customers and takes time to make sure everything is perfect - but you have to follow the care instructions! Attached is a pic of when they arrived and about 5 weeks later. Awesome - just love them! Update: I bought these 4 years ago and they continue to grow and multiply (see last pic - and Ive given some away as they have baby plans quite a bit). I was concerned that VFT's need to go dormant every year but that process seemed tricky so I just let mine keep growing. I have separated them and repotted them a couple times as they get really dense. They are really very hardy when they get going. Just again use only distilled water, plastic pots that allow air (like the net pots) and water from bottom. Mine get afternoon sun on my Lanai. I never feed them, they seem to catch food fine on their own. I think they key is just water them with distilled water, give them sun and leave them alone. My even catch a baby lizard from time to time.

Great Plants!
I ordered a small 3 pack of VFTs from Joel a month or two ago and they're taking off and overfilling the net pot. Since I had a great experience last time, I figured to jump in and get some more plants from him. I was not disappointed. The plant is a good size and very healthy. I planted it, as per the written and video instructions, and set them in a tray with water. I buy my bottled drinking water from the Dollar General. It's their in-house brand. Luckily, it's exactly what I need for the plants. 2 birds, 1 stone. I checked the water analysis from the bottler's site and it's 0ppm of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). If you use bottled water, just make sure it is purified (Reverse Osmosis) WITHOUT added minerals (a lot of them do that--check the fine print), or just get distilled water. I feed my traps (you don't have to, but it's why we have them!) once or twice a month, depending if all of the traps are open. I feed 1 or 2 traps per plant at a time. They've been getting frozen/thawed bloodworms (I feed those to my African Clawed Frogs, Dwarf Frogs, and Betta fish) and the occasional small cricket (baby Tarantula food). These traps got a bloodworm last night. I see bad reviews from people and all I can think is that they aren't following the provided instructions or checking out Joel's (or anyone else's videos) on the proper care. I am a plant killer. Always have been. I am keeping these alive and thriving after watching Joel's and other reputable Carnivorous Plant Youtube channels, along with a lot of research. It's not hard at all. I am not buying that they were sent dead or dying plants. I got plants within a few days of some of the reviews and they were perfect. I will be buying more plants from Joel. I will also be copy/pasting this review for another plant I bought at the same time because I can't think of anything different to say about it. The thing in the brown pot is an experiment from Lowe's "The Bug Biting Plant Kit." I don't have high hopes for it, lol.

Pretty disappointed
Ordered August 14. Paid extra for expedited shipping since it was a live plant and I wanted to give it the best chance... they shipped it August 15 and arrived August 20. Looked super sad and limp when I opened the package, yellowing, one trap black already, several leaves damaged. There was no damage to the package and it was padded by the included moss. Packaging appeared to be sufficient... so have a feeling it wasn't in great shape before it even left their door. I immediately opened the package and set it up according to the instructions, following every last detail. Photo attached is what it looked like right out of the mail, immediately after I set it up with the included pot and moss, and placed in a bowl of distilled water in a window with lots of sun. Some of the negative reviews here are from people who clearly didn't follow instructions. I'm not one of them. Intelligent person here with lots of varied plant care experience that can also follow directions, FYI. This was going to be a gift for somebody. I ordered it a few weeks in advance because I know it's tricky to mail a live plant, and that it might need some time to perk back up and recover. But it hasn't perked back up. Most of the remaining leaves and traps have one by one also turned black, now as of September 1. So between the plant and the expedited shipping, I spent 40 bucks on a nearly dead plant that will in no way be a presentable gift. Maybe for their birthday... next year. All that said, it's not dead. There are two new leaves/traps emerging. Signs of life yet. I'm going to care for it, and it may recover eventually. Perhaps if I can get it to limp on through it's winter dormancy, I might have a decent plant bounce back next spring. But obviously this purchase missed the mark for my purpose. I had to get a different birthday gift yesterday since this in no way looks like anything I want to give to anyone. Long story short, don't expect it to look anything like the pictures. And don't disregard all the negative reviews - I assumed they were people who couldn't follow instructions - no, many of them have valid complaints you should consider as a potential buyer. Those in the product pictures are happy healthy plants that haven't spent 5 days in a box traveling by trucks. The one you receive might not look anything like those, and you may have a long wait and a lot of plant-care ahead of you to nurse it to a healthy condition. Not a good gift idea. It was better than nothing, but not by much, unfortunately. An interesting plant, I was super excited, but feel super let down. I hope it pulls through so it's not a total waste.

Best VFT'S on the internet
I am 100% pleased with my vft order. I was shocked the plant arrived so green and healthy looking! I ordered the large size and that's exactly what I recieved. There was around a half dozen traps on the plant. Everything was packed so well that even a couple traps were still opened! Came with everything needed to get started (minus water, and a small water tray). The pot was much larger than ones included from other companies. Also Included detailed instructions on caring for the vft. And to top it all off, the seller messaged my email to remind me that my order had arrived and encouraged me to ask any questions I had about growing my vft. This seller definatly cares about his products and customers and I highly reccomend this company for all your carnivorous plant needs. This has honestly been one of my most satisfying internet purchases of anything I have ever ordered!

For Survival of you Venus Fly Trap KNOW THESE THINGS!
Update: It is exceptionally important to realize that Venus Fly Traps are dormant from Oct/Nov - Feb/March depending on where you live. During dormancy most types of Venus Fly Traps retain a few traps that are smaller than usual and possibly may not close if you try to feed them. I did give Joel’s Carnivorous Plants a 5 star rating at first because I received 4 nice sized plants for the price. You can’t get B-52s, a ‘giant sized Venus Fly Trap’ for this price for this size. However, after several weeks I’ve reduced it to a 3 star rating. The reason is that out of the 5 companies that I have ordered from, these are the only Fly traps that will not eat yet. The traps are open in a kind of warped looking way like they’re shocked and have not grown since I got them a month ago. This is important to know if you are purchasing these plants for children that of course are desperately wanting to feed the plants now! I have a feeling that once these plants come out of their shock they will be good plants. However, I can’t guarantee that. Also, if you look at the size of the actual rhizome, it is very small for a plant with traps this size. That would lead me to the conclusion that the company is fertilizing the plants or forcing them in some other way to grow faster than they would normally. I am not sure how this will effect the plants in the long term. If it all works out, this will still be a good purchase for me. The bottom line is that the other cultivars of Venus Fly Traps that I purchased from 4 other sources during this plant dormancy time have all grown new traps during this time and they will eat compared to these plants bought from Amazon that will not eat - at least now. Perhaps they will improve and eat after the dormancy period. I will try to remember to update in April or so. But now moving on to even more important information below so that you can keep your plants alive! So, here’s what you need to know: 1. ALL Fly Trap Plants Go Dormant from October until February. What that means is that if you are ordering during those times, the plants naturally lose most of their traps (they turn black) because they are taking a rest - like hibernation. I ordered Fly Traps from 4 other companies and they ALL had some black traps. Just cut off the black traps if you don’t like how they look. 2. Fly Traps are native to North and South Carolina! They Love to Grow in Full Sun Outside! They can handle temperatures down to 20 degrees! That means that if you grow them inside you MUST have them in a window where they receive lots of sun or they will die. And in all honesty Venus Fly Traps will grow much better if grown outside year round. 3. You must give them only Distilled Water! Also, they don’t want to be in really high humidity (like a terrarium). So, why do you see them sold in covered pots? The reason is that if they didn’t put the cover on the plant it would get dry and die - fly traps Must be kept moist to wet - and if the plants got dry (if companies didn’t put the cover over them) people would use regular water on them and they would die. 4. The other reason they are sold in covered containers is because if not protected, people would be putting their fingers in the traps making them close. Doing this without actually feeding the traps with insects (no hamburger or other protein - they cannot digest other types of protein) weakens the plants. 4. No fertilizer ever or you’ll kill them! Only feed bugs - that’s their fertilizer. 5. Only use the soil that’s recommended for Fly Traps or what is supplied here. Regular soil or potting soil will kill them! Wishing You Lots of Success with Your Plants and Life! Take care Everyone!🌟

Great instructions.
Ordered 4 plants. Got 4 net planting pots and 4 bags of planting material and 4 bags of plants. Instructions said one plant per pot, however each plant bag contained 2 plants. Great surprise, pay for.4 get 8 plants. Planted 2 plants per pot.. Let's see if they can all survive and thrive so they can be replanted into 8 pots at the proper time. .

WARNING: YOU WILL WANT TO BUY MORE!!!
These arrived a few months ago, and there's not a bad thing I could say about these! Since they arrived in the mail, they've been growing like crazy! Instead of getting three, it arrived with four adorable little plants with multiple healthy traps on them. They were packaged very well using the moss as an insulator/stuffing wrapped around the flytraps which were in a small baggie with a damp paper towel wrapped around the roots and the rhizome. This was placed into the net pot. The packaging was fantastic overall! The mailman *sigh* squished the box while putting it into the little mailbox. However, all was well, and not a plant was harmed thanks to the ingenious packaging! Planted right away, I found it mildly difficult to put all four into one little pot (though I'll admit I am pretty clumsy and that's probably just me). After re-potting recently, I found it much easier to use a small object like a paintbrush end or pencil to stuff in the moss around the rhizome. Since I planted the four, they've "multiplied" and I now have around seven or eight plants! One issue I came across was purely my fault and was easily corrected; I figured I'd leave the netted pot sitting in a full bowl of distilled water so I'd only have to water it a few times a month. A few weeks later the traps began to yellow. Googled it, re-potted them with fresh moss, and kept the watering to a regulated amount and they came back as nice as ever! The traps themselves so far have ranged from about half an inch to three-quarters of an inch long. They're easy to grow for a beginner, and I would definitely recommend getting these! It might be "expensive", but they're very healthy, very beautiful flytraps well worth the price! There's no doubt I'll be back for more before long!

Great plant!
I typically always kill plants! I killed a succulent and that's apparently hard to do! This plant is so amazing and fun! I keep it in a bowl filled with water. The seller was seriously THE BEST person I've ever bought anything from!! They were so thurough with the instructions and tips on how to properly care for the plant and everything was included! The plant came loose with the roots wrapped in a damp paper towel. Shipping was really fast as to not dry out the plant! It included the moss and plastic basket needed to "plant" this. It doesn't get planted in dirt like you would expect. Instead you wrap the moss around the loose roots and then place into the basket then put in a bowl of water. The instructions said to only use a specific type of water, which I followed to a T for a while. Then I started to get lazy and use regular water from the faucet and it didn't do much harm. I noticed this plant is really good at regenerating new heads. As some of them would turn black, I would pluck them out by the root of that stem, and a new one would start to grow in just a few days! It's so fun watching the plant eat flies! I have a 5yo and we would swat flies and 'feed them' to the plant. My kiddo was so fascinated with this plant, it was awesome to see her so excited and intrigued by nature and not something digital! This plant won't grow to be huge, it's not like Rocky Horror, but it does get to be a decent size! A great purchase for sure!!!
