A Great Everyday Watch: Casio
“In my opinion, Casio watches are a great choice because they are simple, affordable, and very reliable. I like them because they have a classic style and they are easy to wear every day. Casio watches are also known for being durable, which makes them perfect for school, work, or outdoor activities. Another thing I like is that they come in many different designs, from sporty to more elegant styles. Overall, I think Casio watches are a good option for anyone who wants a practical and stylish watch without spending too much money.”

Absolutely the Best Watch in the World for the Money
The title is not hyperbole; this watch really is quite literally the very best watch in the world for the money. Let's do a quick run-down of its features: 1. Tells time 2. Tells day 3. Tells date 4. Water resistant to 100m (330 feet) 5. Solid plastic/rubber construction 6. Glow in the dark dial and numbers We'll take it by the numbers. 1. Tells time. This is the minimum that this watch should do. In my experience, it tells time as accurately as my Citizen and Seiko watches that cost hundreds of dollars more. 2. Tells day. This is a big deal. This watch actually tells you what day of the week it is. It may not sound like a big deal, but when you get older, this is a very important feature. 3. Tells date. Most watches of some quality will do this, but to do so with the day as well? In a watch this inexpensive? Holy calendars, Batman, this watch does BOTH! 4. Water resistant to 100m. Unless you're Jaques Cousteau, you're not going to find yourself alive 100m below the surface of the water. This watch will still be ticking even if you drop it into the lake or swimming pool, or if you take a swim with the fishes under the pier. If it's the latter, at least you can look at the watch and know the time of your demise. 5. Solid plastic and rubber construction. This is a good deal. Why? Because it weighs so little, you don't feel it's on your wrist. It's also a nice matte finish which is quite stylish these days. 6. Glow in the dark dial and hands. This is a great thing. In my experience, it glows bright and long after a light source threw some photons at it. What's better is in the scenario above, where the watch wearer finds himself swimming with the fishes under the pier, if it's dark, the glow in the dark dial and hands will aid and assist in visibility if it's dark (and water gets dark the deeper you get). To sum it up, for the price, you cannot get a better quality watch with this many features. I tried. I looked for days and days, and while there are cheaper watches out there, they cannot match the quality or the features.Trust me, this is the best deal in time/day/date telling wrist-wear. Final comment: I've worn expensive watches all my life, and when I had to put them all into the watch hospital for repair, I bought this watch so that I can at least tell time. Do you know what happened? More people noticed this watch and commented on its awesomeness than they did when I wore my much nicer and more expensive watches. Not that I wear my watches to get comments, but if I did, this one would have been a much better return on my money than the others. I hope this review helps. Bottom line: if you need a watch that does it all for under $20 and will last and last, then buy this watch. If you want to throw money away, then look elsewhere. This might very well be the best deal in the universe.

Great inexpensive "dive style" watch - Inaccurate title
It's the least expensive diver style watch that I've found from a reputable brand that has a rotating bidirectional diver bezel and more than decent water resistance at 100m. It looks great and is functional - although I wouldn't do any serious diving with it. Watch diameter (minus crown) is 43mm and is 11.5mm thick. It's smaller than the Duro and wears more like a large field or pilot watch than a thick Gshock watch. The only downside are the straps. When compared to a Gshock strap (3mm) or an Illuminator strap (2mm), it feels thin at 1.5mm. They feel cheap and flop around but they are functional. If you want to replace it, you'll need an 18mm width strap. NOTE: While the watch is great, I'm taking a star off for the inaccurate title: - Case is resin/plastic - it is not stainless steel - It is not a screw down crown - it is your typical push/pull crown - It is not a screw down caseback (like on the Duro) - it is a stainless steel caseback held down with 4 screws

value
For the money this watch is an excellent value. It is better than what you often get for many times the price. I started wearing Casio because by job is hard on watches. I have broken every expensive watch I have owned. Casio G-Shocks I own have lasted a decade + and what always breaks is the band which are often hard to find replacements and costly. I really only need time and date and not the extra gadgetry so this watch is a perfect solution. The band is simple to replace with a variety of options at different prices that are readily available. It is a very attractive watch and is easy to read. My wrists are on the smaller side and it wears well. The only potential negative I see is that the bezel is flush with the crystal and offers no protection. I would love to see Casio make this with a taller bezel, solar and a backlight. It is light and comfortable. I cannot speak on the durability yet but If you are on the fence just buy one. You won't be disappointed.

Cheap But Accurate
I needed an inexpensive watch for a road trip that would give me the day and date and allow me to add a small compass to the band. Having had several Casio watches in the past I looked at that brand first. At first, I ignored this watch, because it was so inexpensive that I figured it couldn’t be worth anything. However, after looking at several more expensive versions I returned to look at the reviews on this watch. There were enough good things said about this watch that I decided to buy it. I figured that for the price of a few gallons of gas if it only lasted a month it would have met the requirement that I had for it. I got it several days ago and set it up immediately. Like several other reviewers have indicated, getting the day and date to change is a bit of a challenge initially. I resolved that by winding the minute hand past the point where I saw the date change and then continued to move that hand to after 5 AM. It was very easy to set the date and day at that point. Once I had it set up, I set the time using the Verizon time on my iPhone. I set the hour; the minute; and the second. Four days later the watch has not lost or gained a second. So it gets an A+ for accuracy. This watch is not a rugged watch but it appears that it will hold up to getting wet in rain or from perspiration and it will probably work pretty well in the humid environments. The numbers and markings on the face are very easy to see in the daytime. However, there are no luminous features on the markings so seeing it at night requires a light source. The battery claims it will work for five years in this watch. I doubt that I will be back to confirm that. The only negative comment I have is that this watch is made in the land of the Great Wall and surveillance balloons. I can’t understand why a company like Casio can’t come up with manufacturing locations in central and South America. *UPDATE* 8/4/24 - I have had this watch for a week and I am amazed. Either Verizon uses this watch to run their system clock, or this watch is tethered to my iPhone’s clock, or this watch has perfect time… Whatever it is, the watch has not lost or gained one second since I set it a week ago. For just over $20, even if it breaks down in a year, it is worth it for an outdoor or work watch. I would not hesitate to buy one again. *UPDATE* 12/18/24 Okay, here is an update that I really never figured I would make. This watch is as good, if not better, than my old Casios that crapped out after years of Army living in the field or my dress watches made by Seiko (the official timepiece of the Vietnam War). Other than the lack of luminous face features this watch is fantastic. It got a pretty good workout on the extended trip that I bought it for. It survived several soakings, jarring and long periods of extreme vibrations. The mechanical functions are still tight and the time is incredibly accurate, losing only a few seconds per month. So my advice is go ahead and buy one. If anyone from Casio is reading this I would suggest adding small tritium capsules at each hour on the face and tritium on the three hands, jack up the price a bit and sell it. It would be a great watch.

So light - so clear
What a lovely watch - never knew a bezel could be so useful. Can read the dial without my glasses. Great value for money.

Issue right out of the box
Right out of the box I can't change the day....it just rolls about half way and the clicks right back where it was. Hmm...when setting the time, the day changed (which should not happen). I know it's a minimal cost watch but I would expect it to actually work correctly. I'll give it a whirl for a week and see if the days change correctly. Stay tuned.

Good for High School Student
I'm a student and I needed a watch that would not break on me during SATs and ACTs so I could time myself. I finally found this watch and I was a little skeptical but it is a great watch. It fitted my wrist even though my wrist is small. I don't know if it can fit someone with a big wrist without strangling your blood flow. And by small I mean my wrist's circumference is roughly 5-6 inches around. I don't think it would fit anyone whose wrist is bigger than 8 inches around. Don't know the exact measurements but that's a rough estimate. First things first: the glow in the dark paint works on all of them however low intensity lights will not light up the paint too much for it to obviously and visibly show up in the dark. Otherwise it will just be little dim if anything. If your eyes adjust to the dark then you might be able to see it better. If you work in photoshoots or something that exposes you to high lumens of light then yes it will glow... very obviously. I shone a 10 lumens flashlight on it and it was visibly glowing even in the lit room. The numbers don't glow so unless you have a clock face memorized, it won't help you much in telling specific time. The glow in the dark paint lasts a while because I have went to sleep at midnight, wake up four hours later, and check the watch and my eyes can still see somewhat of a faint glow on the dark. The set up is a little confusing if you don't check what model your watch is. it should be on the back of the watch on the battery case/cover. It may/may not be squared/boxed in. My watch model was 5125 and I could set the time correctly. If you are a little obsessive like I am, the seconds part will kinda tick you off. When you adjust the watch, the second hand going to move slightly no matter what direction you turn it in. And that slight movement may cause your second hand to land in between the seconds like mine did. It's easily fixable but annoying. you'll just have to readjust again but carefully this time. There is no alarm nor is there a beep. However if you put your ear on the watch's glass, you can hear ticking but it's not audible if you are more than an inch away from it The day and day of the week showed up fine and what I like is that there is a Spanish and English version for the days of the week. It's easy setting those up and they stay in the language you want although if it changed, I wouldn't have mind since I can read Spanish anyways. However, you will have to manually adjust the day if the month ends on anything other than a 31. Example: February going into March, you will have to skip from 28 or 29 to 1. This watch is water resistant and NOT water PROOF so don't take it scuba diving or whatnot. I don't plan on taking this into the pool or shower so I don't see a problem there. The occasional hand washing won't kill this thing however mixing it with soap and other cleaners might. The bottom line: don't get it wet. Overall, I like the simple layout. The numbers are easy to read and aren't the crazily small numbers or the Roman numerals. It's more of a functional watch than the those decorative ones without a watch face. The second hand should have been a different color other than the blue and white. The color scheme works fine with the hour and minute hand because you can see then clearly against the black but the second hand tip kinda blends on the color of the numbers so it is a little hard to tell to the second what it is some times. You can still kinda tell but it is still a little confusing at times. I also like how there are military hours in smaller print below the numbers. There is 13-24 below and it's useful for those who need things in military time. There is not however a 00:00 on there although you should know that it's midnight and midnight is at 12. The glass seems a little flimsy and maybe prone to fingerprint smudges but a shirt edge can clean it pretty easily. Scratches on the other hand is a different story. I've had it for roughly a month and a half and I would accidentally scrape by things and it'll get scratches on it :( As for the strap it seems sturdy. However it's the hinge thing that worries me because it seems to made of a plastic and after extended time, it'll probably break. Also, the crown will seem kind of loose if you are not currently using it to set anything. I don't know if that's what it's suppose to be like but I can tell you right now, it doesn't feel like it'll fall off because it's not wobbly or dangling precariously from the things holding it in. But I liked it, good watch at a cheap price. Good watch for a high school student. I'm satisfied because it wasn't overly complicated and it's easy to read
