Q: Can this be used outside on a gate

ii dont think it would i think it is for indoor use, the elements would be a problem [water ,snow etc ]

Q: Can this be fitted to a street door and if so so what happens if it fails and you are outside the door how can you get in

yes it can be fitted to a street door there are instructions about a failure within [but i sujest making sure baterys changed regular depending on use and key fob batterys changed at same time]

Q: Can auto lock function be disabled?

I haven’t found a way to do this permanently and the instructions are not written in great English. However, I’ve noticed that if the door is not closed over fully it does not engage the autolock - which I thought was a clever feature. Also, if you unlock it manually it doesn’t seem to autolock (but as soon as you press the remote the autolock is turned back on). This lock was ideal for what I needed, but I don’t use it on a main external door and I wouldn’t rely on it as a main external lock, partly because I wouldn’t trust it not to lock me out.

Yes, it locks and unlocks it. There’s also an autolock on it, which you need to be careful of, I haven’t figured out how to turn that off permanently.
