Does the head comes off. what is the difference between 389 vs 389B

No the head does not come off that I know of, I have never taken it off on mine. The 389B is the upgraded version of 389 adding micro amps and non-contact voltage testing. I like my 389B,

Have anyone have problem putting test leads into meter? Seems to have black piece over both test lead opening.
