Hyde 09977 Radial Sander

I saw one of these on a YouTube channel and knew I had to have one immediately since I had a big drywall project coming up. Sanding is generally never pleasant but given that it's the part I hate the worst, doing the sanding this time almost seemed pleasurable. First, it basically cut my time by about 90%, saved my eyes and back, and it gave me a superior sanding to anything I've done in the past. It's wide enough that it is hard to hit an area too hard, but the weight of it adds just enough that you don't have to push either. Just run it over your wall and you have a highly professional job. One additional thing is that where I used to only hit the seams and the screw holes, I now hit the entire wall, which when there's paint there because I'm doing a big repair job, scuffs up the paint just perfectly to aid in adhesion. This is heavy enough and well constructed so I can't imagine ever needing to buy another one unless someone swipes it. And yes, I now lock it up because I've seen a couple of subs look at this with some envy and it very well could walk. My only regret is not having this 20 years ago, though being 20 years old likely means that my back appreciates it more.

This radial sander is made well and comes with one sanding sheet attached. The sanding sheet has a medium grit which allowed me to begin my wall sanding project immediately. You will need a threaded pole to attach to this product. It is larger than my existing wall sander so it enhances my ability to move faster. It is not dust free so you still have to remove the dust from your walls. It was a sturdy product for a reasonable price.

I used this sander to prep my walls for painting after drywall repairs, then between paint coats. Very easy to use as a senior, lightweight and I could work fast and do a whole wall in a few minutes (8’ ceilings). Stayed flat against the wall. Also, I removed and rinsed my net wallboard sanding disc for re-use. After sanding, I removed the sanding disc and pressed a microfiber cloth (it easily stuck) to the disc to clean the walls. Worked great! Of course, painting a few rooms is not the heavy duty workload of a pro, but I had zero problems and I can see using this to clean my walls in the future too. I highly recommend for home painting and drywall projects.

I've used the rectangular sanders that flop and twist causing gouges in ones level 5 finish. It takes some time getting used to sanding with those. I've used rectangular vacuum sanders, one on a fixed base and another on a flexible base and both of those have issues sanding well. Mostly sreeen marks or in the case of the flexible one, it's too stiff and difficult to sand with unless held at just the right angle. This Hyde round sander is a 10 as far as I'm concerned. No flip flopping, no gouge marks, easy to control and super for feather edging. No screen marks with the included screen and the screen lasts a long time. Most of the non dustless, green top, drywall compound drops to the floor with little floating in the air which i attribute to the included screen. i bought some round sandpaper to use with this tool but will pay the price for the more expensive Hyde screens they work so well. If you have never sanded drywall before you won't really notice how good this is. If you've used the rectangular ones, throw them out, (or use them only for corner work), and get this. It'll make sanding a lot easier.

makes prepping walls so much easier before painting. I got a more professional finish this last time I painted. Less defect spots, much cleaner looking walls when you are done.

This worked very well. It fit with my currently owned extension rod and did the trick. Very little effort was required by me.

I used it to sand drywall seams when finishing a room. It worked great. I just used it to take off the high spots in my handyman mudding job . You don't need stilts to get to the ceiling. I liked that you can cover a lot of area standing in one place. I just screwed to on a broom handle and went to town.
