Great Kindle Light!!!
Bought this for my Kindle 3 (newest generation) This light is awesome, perfect for either night reading, or on cloudy stormy grey days (which is pretty much everyday when you live on the oregon coast in the winter). I can see where other people didn't like that it fell off with too much movement...but, I figured out why and was A-Okay with it. The clip is not a standard clothes-pin type...it expands out horizontally to accomodate your kindle in varying cases thicknesses...the only reason it's a bit wonkey is because the top of the kindle on the back is beveled...however, when my kindle is in the case the clip stays nicely in place because it has something nice and "square" to hang on to. The brightness is superb, and doubles as a flashlight when walking in a dark house...great for when I don't want to stub my toes on the corner of the furniture because I don't want to wake my sleeping husband with the overhead light. :) Can't comment on the battery life as of yet, but I have rechargeable batteries so I'm sure I won't have any problems with that. The light unit itself is a bit on the heavy side, and can flop forward if the light it extended all the way (vertically towards ones face), but keep in mind that was without batteries in it and without the kindle being in the case. Overall, an amazing light that works wonders!!!

Almost Perfect - and That's Good Enough
This light has some great plusses. Its few minuses, noted by other reviewers, don't even add up to one less star for me. The plusses: Lightweight enough - 2.9 oz. with batteries - that it doesn't unbalance my Kindle 3G even in one hand, or weigh down my travel bag. Bright enough for my aging vision. Even though the lights are close together, they illuminate the screen evenly enough for my fussy eyes. Can be pointed away from my spouse. Though I haven't used up any batteries, the measured drain of 26 ma on low or 50 ma on high should give roughly 15 hours of use on high, twice that on low. The minuses: The clamp isn't shaped to snug up to the tapered back of the Kindle 3G. This means you can make it teeter if you try. But I don't notice any problem in actual use. Glare spot: If the head is placed over the screen, then yes, there will be glare. It's necessary to place it off to one side, and then it's fine. The illumination is still fairly even, and this position allows for directing the light away from a sleeping spouse. Some people have complained about the light being too bright. Personally, I find the dim setting just a bit dim, and the high setting just right. YMMV. As a bonus, if the clamp is pulled apart it can be carefully slid onto a half inch wad of paperback pages, for those of us who still have the old-fashioned kind of books, the ones you can keep and give to a friend after you've read them. There's no glare problem on paper, so the light can be positioned to evenly illuminate even those larger paperbacks they upsize in order to charge a few extra bucks. Bottom line: I'm a happy puppy.

Love this book light! READ THIS REVIEW NOOKERS AND REAL BOOKERS!
5 stars average! Very bright yet doesn't interrupt those nearby such as spouse/children trying to get to sleep. This has been a big problem in the past. We've not been able to agree on a light bright enough for me to read with yet that wouldn't roam over the entire area around me. This light focuses on the area I want to angle it and it adjusts to either side or top of my nook without trouble. The gooseneck also increases the ease of adjusting the light away from others eyes, but still lights my nook great. I can put the clip on the left side of my book or nook then point the neck in the same direction=I can see wonderfully but others aren't effected. The grip is an adjustable 'grip-hand' which will stretch a couple centimeters or so in or out allowing me to get a tighter 'grab' on hardbacks by gripping more pages=stays in place better for real books. It's made for a Kindle but I bought it for my nook, chancing it's suitability because I 'felt' it would be the best 'focalized' brightness I'd ever find, and so far I'm pleased. I gave only 4 stars on adjustability simply because I'm using it on a nook, which has a curved edge with the grip-hand being squared off = adjustability is a wee bit harder BUT it's not made for the nook. I just fixed a bumper pad with some soft-sided velcro to give it that extra 'angle' to hold onto. That worked great. It's worked great with the 2 paged books hardbacks also, easily lighting up both without any adjustment at all. Paperbacks are a bit weaker in supporting it's weight. It's not heavy, actually very light especially along with an ereader instead of oa burdensome book, but not the usual weight for a paperback but if I grip enough pages, I can make it work fine (especially since I can now read without complaints from the family! Too, having a nook now, I don't plan on reading many more paperbacks once I finish my stash). I hope I've answered concerns for you well where I would have liked to have known before chancing, even though it all worked as I hoped. My surprise was how it folds into itself making it easier to fold into my book case /cover pocket

Belkin nearly got it right
The light has really only got to do two things well: stay in place and provide glare-free light. The clip mostly works, though it can be dislodged rather easily. The clamp is not a levered-clothespin, but a parallel clamp that doesn't exert a whole lot of pressure when in place. Not a dealbreaker for bedtime readers, but just don't expect to leave this thing in place while walking around the house or transporting in a bag. The LEDs put out as much light as a decent flashlight. It's not a peaceful, soft glow but a serious task light on a gooseneck. It's bright enough to annoy a spouse... even a spouse that's watching TV. If Belken knocked the lower setting down to about 1/3 its current brightness, it'd be plenty bright for reading the Kindle. The switch is on the lamp head, which itself is pretty small. Flicking the tiny switch with a thumbnail isn't that bad, but it's easy to flick right past the lower setting and end up lighting up the whole bedroom for a second --before switching the thing off by accident (missing the lowest setting, again). By doing this you end up creating a momentary disco effect in the bedroom just trying to get the thing turned on. Having AAAs instead of coin batteries in the light is a welcome convenience. You're more likely to have AAAs around the house than some little watch battery. Changing the batts is as simple as changing the batts in a TV remote control; there are no little screws contend with. I haven't had it long enough to judge its battery life, though. But be aware that the using 3xAAAs in a light does add a considerable amount of weight to the top of the Kindle. The concern isn't really with the weight it adds, but the way it affects the balance and ergonomics of the Kindle. I found the I had to hold the Kindle up a bit higher than I was used to. Holding something for an hour or two, you find that a little change can make a big difference. I found I liked clipping the light to the bottom of the Kindle to keep the center of balance low. But, this covers up the space bar and some other keys. The next best thing is to clip it to the side of the Kindle I'm holding, just above the page turn buttons. Pro: AAA battery's easily available and simple to replace 2 brightness settings Flexible head is easily adjustable for glare-free reading Con: Too bright. Even on it's dimmer setting, it lights half the bedroom. Heavy, affects the handling and balance of the Kindle

Excellent light for eReader or Laptop
After owning the Mighty Bright LED light, the Verso Clip On light, and now the Belkin Clip On light, I can safely say that this light is the BEST of the bunch. While the 3 AAA batteries tend to be heavier than the slimmer CR2032 found in the Verso, Belkin has designed this light with them out of the way. I am using this light now to type this review in a dark room and the entire keyboard plus 8" to the sides are well lit. And this is on the low setting. Switching to the high setting the light is TREMENDOUS. White, bright, and no flicker whatsoever. As it uses AAA batteries, I expect the light to work for quite a while between battery replacement. I am glad I finally found a light that is exactly what I wanted. The clip on mechanism is well designed. It accepts a wide range of eReaders as it is expandable. There is also an attachment which I believe is for the Kindle 3. Haven't read the instructions yet). Yes, I am a guy and we do those things. Buy this light. You will not be disappointed. The three (3) LED's throw off bright, white light. I'll probably buy another one, maybe two, to have around the house. It works great on my Macbook and my Sony PRS-950. PS. If you want my Verso, let me know. UPDATE: I put new batteries in the Verso (CR2032) and switched between the two lights. The Verso light has already dimmed, while the Belkin is still going strong (on the high setting I may add). Nothing wrong with the Verso. Just that the flat CR2032 batteries don't hold much juice. But they are cheap on Amazon, so I will use it to light up my laptop keyboard.

Collected Another Kindle Light!
Edit on July 10, 2010: I have added a very short video comparing a few of my reading lights, but please understand I am not a videographer, so it really isn't that good. But I hope it helps someone though. I still use the Belkin light the most and no longer look for any other reading lights for my Kindle - it broke my addiction! :) Original Review: I admit to collecting reading lights for my Kindle (you can see my review of others here: Mighty Bright MiniFlex Book Light, Black ), so it wasn't surprising when I ordered this one after seeing it mention on the Kindle forum here on Amazon. The light is very bright - even on the lowest setting. It might actually be a bit too bright if you are reading in bed with a significant other, but I don't have that problem at the moment. I read my Kindle naked - sans cover. This light firmly holds onto the Kindle without or without a cover. It is different than the other Might Bright Lights, as this doesn't clip on per se - it will slide onto the naked Kindle, and will extend to fit over the Kindle with a cover. I have added pictures above to show this in more detail. For me, the biggest issues are weight of the light and limiting a hotspot on the Kindle screen. I find this light to weigh about the same as the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging ], (maybe a little less) but it seems more balanced because of the wider base - easier for me to use in bed while I am lying on my side. The front edge also will not touch the Kindle screen like the Might Bright will. And I am able to adjust the light so I have no hotspot on the screen. Some of these things are probably personal preference, so your mileage may vary. If you like the Kandle, this probably isn't for you. If you like the Mighty Bright, this is slightly better in my opinion, but a bit pricier. Enjoy! :)

Love it
I bought this clip on last week, so as of now I must report it is wonderful. I was using a different clip on light which I liked for many years while reading "normal" books. When I purchased the Kindle 2 as much as I liked my old light, it didn't work well. Too many hot spots and it never seemed to be bright enough. I researched the different types of kindle lights and this seemed to be most liked. It should be. In comparison this light appears brighter, but the reason is the color of the light as it shines on the kindle. My old one was a blue/white tint. The Belken is more yellow. I found that against the gray Kindle background the yellow tint is much easier on my eyes as well having dual level brightness choices. I was bit concerned by the way it clips onto the Kindle. You can't put it on the front cover of the protective leather case. The case is too narrow, but it fits great when used on the combination of the Kindle and the cover. Plenty of room and easily attached. I don't read without the cover so I haven't tried it on the Kindle by itself. I am sure it would fit fine. Since I just started using it I can speak to battery life, but using AAA batteries is much easier to change than trying to find then the other batteries I can arrange the flexible arm so I don't get any hot spots on the screen or the case. That was the biggest problem with my old light I really think this is a wonderful clip on for the Kindle 2. Worth. The $25.00 I paid. (A bit pricey, I thought but now worth it) I would pay it again for all the good things it does

Great for cover-less Kindle 2 and DX - too loose for Kindle 3
I have several book lights and this is one of my absolute favorites. It's my go-to light for reading my Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 9.7" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally ' Latest Generation in low light situations. It provides evenly lit, glare-free, full device coverage (screen and keyboard). I usually clip it to the left side of my DX, but it can be positioned at the top, too. It doesn't add any noticeable weight to the DX and barely registers when I use it with Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 6" Display, White - 2nd Generation . The clip is well-balanced and it stays well within Kindle's frame, without overhanging the screen. I prefer to read without a case, but I sometimes use one to keep light from disturbing others. I like that the clip expands for use with or without a case. My only (slight) disappointment is that it does not grip the bare Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally - Latest Generation very well. The light is usable, but it doesn't feel secure. I'm sure it would be fine if the Kindle 3 was inside a book cover case, but I prefer reading without a case whenever I can get away with it.

Belkin F5L073 Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle
This is an excellent light! The LED is a nice soft (but bright) light without the blue/florescent quality that some LEDs have. I've been using it on my Kobo. It's not the greatest fit for the Kobo, but the quality of the light makes it worthwhile. It even works well in total darkness (great for camping). I'd give it 5 stars.

works okay
It works just fine but does create some glare on the screen. I'm glad I bought it though. Perfectly okay.
