Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica (Fiona Dourif) is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool – a “Good Guy” doll – a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll. Review: Unironically great series of movies - So, I went into these movies thinking I was going to hate them, and the absolute opposite was true. I'm going to go ahead and split this up into three parts since the format of the movies changes exactly twice. In the first three movies, we have Chucky trying to inhabit the body of the most innocent kid in the world, of which he keeps getting framed for everything that happens. It's almost the same movie 3 times in a row with the kid getting a little bit older each movie. There are slight variations on the story for each movie, but it's all very formulaic. I took it as a social commentary of how children are often saddled with the crimes of the adults around them, and in that sense I found the first 3 movies very good. The next movie, Bride of Chucky, we're not longer following the kid but rather the most innocent young couple in love that you've ever seen. In Seed of Chucky we find out that they have given birth to Paddington Bear if you've ever seen either of those movies. Both Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky are intended to be comedic, which Bride of Chucky was the only movie I didn't like, but I think that was because I went in with the preconception that it wasn't supposed to be funny when in hindsight they clearly intended it to be comedic. Anyways, I like when something is self aware enough to mock themselves, and I really liked the dynamic of these two psychotic serial killers with this very pure, innocent and fragile child who they're both trying to be good parents to, but of course they're both very selfish and psychotic and have very different ways of how they should rear their child. I thought they succeeded with this change of direction, but again, after these two movies we get something entirely different. So the next two movies are psychological thrillers, and these are the most interesting to me. The first three movies, though I enjoyed them, I don't think they succeeded at being horror films. The last two did. These feel like budget indie movies with their lack of star power and very limited sets, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's also pleasantly surprising how well Chucky fits into these new, more eerie story lines. The pacing is much slower for these ones and the visuals overtake the dialogue in importance. I think the transition to this phase went particularly well, although I wonder what happened to the children from Seed of Chucky. But now that we have the new remake, I suspect we'll just never know. Oh well. Overall I was really surprised at how much I liked these movies. I honestly thought I was going to be watching total garbage at the end, and instead I think I'd go as far as to say the last two were probably the best of the series. I never even watched these movies as a kid, so no nostalgia glasses. Actually really good movies. Review: Chucky: America's favorite killer doll - Mostly bought this for my intrest of the upcoming Childs Play Movie staring mark hamill which is a reboot of the first Chucky movie called Childs Play as well. While I never actually watched a chucky movie myself... As a kid I was pretty horrified about anything even dogs. As an adult my favorite movies are stuff like alien movies so I grown to enjoy the horror genre quite a bit and see that.... It wasn't really that scarry after all. So for me I view chucky as more like.... Soft core horror compared to like friday the 13th or nightmare on elms street after all since it's about an evil doll and well the horror movies I watch about an evil doll aren't that scary.... But to be far I never actually watch a chucky movie so it's one of the reasons I even bought it. I'll review the actual movies later. From my understanding the first half of movies is like a trillogy since it all has the title of childs play, childs play 2 and child play 3 so im guessing it has a continuing story line for the first 3 movies focusing on this kid called andy barclay and then the second half which is bride of chucky and seed of chucky which has comedy/horror mixed into it from my understanding which is why I don't take chucky so seriously, but the last half of the movies are curse of chucky and cult of chucky which are just supposed to be darker so hopefully it scares me. I mean I do find dolls creepy, but in movies it really doesn't bother me. I can talk about the box itself, enjoyable espeshaly the moving image were it's just chucky staring into your soul. Lot's of special features here too such as deleted scenes, gag reels, evil comes in small packages featurettes, spotlight on location, chucky: building a nightmare, inside the insanity of Cult of Chucky, Good Guy Gone Bad: The Incarnations of Chucky, Storyboard to Final Comparison, Feature Commentaries with Cast and Crew, and more but only for the 4 movies the childs play movies do not have any special features. I'm assuming it's only for region A because I can't really find what region code it is anywere on the box just for anyone who is curious. The box itself came slightly damaged and the blu-ray case was a bit broken on top but whatever as long as the disks are fine, shame no digital copies for this though even if it costs like 10+20 dollers more would have defently been worth it... Either way I think it's a great value for all 7 movies espeshally the 7th one that was only released back in 2017 so not that long ago.

Very Good Collection for Horror Fans
I must admit, prior to buying this collection, I had not seen any Child's Play (Chucky) movie from start to finish. I had always caught a Chucky movie on TV in the middle and it has always intrigued me. When I saw this collection on sale for $24.99, I decided to buy it. I will break down this collection into 3 segments: First Segment: First 3 Movies: Child's Play 1, 2 and 3. First movie is the original and I think it is a very good horror movie for what it's trying to do. Its premise is quite similar to the The Twilight Zone episode "Living Doll" (Season 5; Episode 6) from 1963 although they have added more horror edge with camera angles and music and an animated puppet doll with facial expressions and more vocabulary. Second and Third movies follow the first movie's formula and its main characters, Chucky and Andy Barclay. Second Segment: 4th and 5th installments, namely "Bride of Chucky" and "Seed of Chucky" which have a different style and atmosphere than the previous 3 movies. This is where horror meets humor, new characters are introduced, mainly Tiffany Valentine which becomes an important character who appears in later installments. Third Segment: Sixth and Seventh installments, namely Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky which are serious horror films with very dark atmosphere. Chucky's comedic lines are still there but they are minimum and obscured by strong horror elements. Overall, I think this is a great set. I found myself watching the entire set on a weekend back-to-back without getting bored due to the movies having different styles and evolving in each installment. Don't be fooled by the low ratings on the Internet. Any movie in this collection deserves at least 3 stars if not 4 out of 5. Side note: Fiona Dourif, the daughter of Brad Dourif (the voice of Chucky in all movies), is an amazing actress. When I first saw her name, I thought to myself she was probably hired because of her father. This very well may be true but she is amazing and very impressive in her acting in both Curse of Chucky and Seed of Chucky movies. I might even go so far as to say that she breathes fresh life into those movies. She is also gorgeous. Please note there is a new Chucky movie coming out this summer (2019) but it's not made by Don Mancini who is the original inventor and contributor of these series, writing for the first 3-4 movies and directing the last 3 movies. I don't expect the new Chucky movie to be better than any of the movies in this set. My recommendation is get this set, you will enjoy it. Blu-ray transfer is very good, no blemishes or damages on the print.

A near perfect collection
This collection is great. If you're looking to add all of the Chucky movies to your film collection, you really can't go wrong here. For one thing, unlike many film collections on the market, this genuinely does feature the entire series (the horrible 2019 remake isn't part of the continuity and so doesn't count). The box itself is excellent. It looks like the original Good Guys doll packaging and feature's Chucky's likeness in lenticular printing on the front. Inside, each film is given its own disc, which isn't necessarily a big deal, but I certainly prefer it this way. Also, unlike many collections, these discs have a nice set of special bonus features. Of course the actual films are of mixed quality. Some of them skew more toward the horror side while others skew more toward the comedy side. That's to be expected with any franchise like this. Fortunately, even the lesser films are still incredibly entertaining, making this series a must-watch for any horror fan. In all honesty, not only is this a better value than trying to find the films individually but this is the rare case in which I actually think the collection surpasses the individually-packaged products.

a fairly decent set of the 7 films
I purchased this set for $20. Seemed like a good price for a total of 7 films. I own the 2 disc Collectors Edition of Child's Play with the Good Guys slipcover. That release is the better version to get as its a new 2K scan of the interpositive for this release with a commentary track by Tom Holland , special effects footage, and interview with Ed Gale. Child's Play 2 looks the best its ever looked. The lack of any special features is a big disappointment. Child's Play 3 looks about the same as 2 but a bit softer at times. It also has no special features. Bride of Chucky is a case of digital manipulation. Its a bit of a mess but acceptable given the low price point. Seed of Chucky doesnt fare as bad as Bride but its also in dire need of a new master/transfer. Curse of Chucky looks great and has some featurettes and interesting deleted scenes. Cult of Chucky looks great as well mostly for being a newly made movie. Not a bad set for $20 if you want the middle films.

Consigliato a tutti i fan dell'horror comedy.
