Passed the Course!
This was required reading for a Master's of Science degree course in Construction Management. I seem to be rather adept at retaining "laws" and "contracts" and received the highest scores on any assignment that was given from this book. It even got to the point where I was arguing with my professor about one of the cases (we were on opposing sides) and I managed to persuade him he was wrong. by quoting him chapter and verse. Great book!

A Valuable Update ...
This is an essential text for those in the field. And, this updated version is no exception. Therefore, if you are operating from an older text, it may be time to upgrade (especially if you are back in the third or fourth edition). Now, if this is your first time purchasing Common Sense Construction Law, do know that the text "is about much more than just preparing claims and resolving disputes ... it seeks to address practical steps to avoid pitfalls whether the project is performed domestically or internationally." By all means, this text strives to assist the reader in AVOIDING lawsuits. (And, in this sense, Common Sense Construction Law is pretty indispensable). There are more positives to this text than one can even beginning to list. Foremost, this text is intensely edited by a multitude of professionals. This should inspire confidence (as should the fact that this is now on its fifth edition). The text is heavily cited (to assure accuracy and to provide further reference). Likewise, the text strives to remain accessible to a layperson. It is as jargon-free as the topic allows. And, to its credit, as I read, I found the writing extraordinarily clear and concise.Understand that this text is not a substitute for an attorney. This is a tool and can provide extremely valuable guidance, but under no circumstances should it be approached as a potential surrogate. With this in-mind, investing in this text (even though it is expensive) can prevent considerably more expensive incidents. By all means, it is well worth your time and the monetary expense.
