Night Owl Security X9-84-1TB 8 CH Video Security System with a 1TB HDD, 4 Hi-Res 900 TVL Cameras (White)

Got this system to replace our Night Owl that was fried by lightening. Easy to set up and get working. Cameras are powered by a box inside the house which is set up near the DVD. CAT 5 wire is run from the house to our barn approximately 100 yards. Night vision was a very important factor and the cameras have excellent night vision both in range and picture quality. I would definitely recommend this system.

OK for price. But wish it came with a couple of 100 ft cables. All were 60 ft as indicated.

Night Owl is the lowest of the low when it comes to quality. Customer service is equally as bad if not worse. I received 3 broken cameras out of 8 (pic of 3 broken base stems). When I sent them back, I received 2 out of 3 destroyed cameras (Pic of bubble envelope with shattered glass). They sent the replacements in a bubble ENVELOPE! Customer support would NOT allow me to speak to a supervisor out of fear they would lose their job. That is not an assumption, it is a fact told to me by a support rep. I never got my money back and/or 8 working cameras. They are either mounted and turning brown from the weather (with cables hanging) or still in the box. DO NOT BUY FROM NIGHT OWL!! You have been advised.

After having a break-in to one of my cars my wife insisted on us beefing up our home security . I am not an electronics guru . I would have been able to install this entire system myself and it works great. We were even able to capture something from half a block away not a bad product for the price

Fit my needs

I bought this outfit because I bought a Lion 4500 and FS-84500 over 4 years ago and have only had an issue with one camera. Caught 2 guys going through my car and the police identified one of them right away. DVR seems to function ok, but cameras lacking. I bought this on a friends recomendation, but have had issues with cameras. Daytime view is fine nighttime on the other hand horrible unless u have ample outdoor lighting. Field of vision seems nowhere near the stated 70 degrees. I tried everything thinking may the cat 5 cables i ran had twisted causing power issue with ir on cameras so ran rg59 still horrible night vision. Even bought a power distribution center still same. Went to microcenter and purchased a 30.00 winbook cam and installed.... Wow it's only 600tvl and 5 times the camera these are. Still wainting to here back from Nightowl tech support been 1 week and 1 day and nothing out of them. Will be my first and last Nightowl system. I will give 2 stars for DVR, but cameras and support horrible.
