Nice to see the sandwich cooking
Although these are intended for cooking burgers, we bought them to make "mountain pies." Having long experience with the solid cast-iron version, we were suspicious and left them sitting for 6 weeks, uncertain if we'd like using them. The answer is: yes. We like them very much. The hardest thing about making mountain pies is that you can't tell when they're burning. Since the Coghlan has open strips along either side, you can see the bread toasting up nicely--and the sandwich takes on a nice panini-like texture. We are very pleased. The one down side is that the hook mechanism isn't quite as "long" as our old set, so you have to work a little harder to get them to hook together. But that's a minor thing.

Great product, JUST REMEMBER TO CLEAN IT!!
Great product, a tiny bit heavy but if you rest it on the side of the firepit its not a problem, JUST MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN IT IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE!!! and remember that the sticks can be removed when your cleaning!

Grills Hamburgers Perfectly.
I grilled hamburgers over my fire pit today. Hamburgers turned out tasty and clean up was easy. I coated the inside with olive oil before putting the hamburgers in to cook. It is a little heavy, but considering it is cast iron I expected the extra weight. I would definitely buy again.

Great for camping
We bought this last year not so much for burgers but to make pizza sandwiches at camping and they work great. Just need to watch so you dont burn your bread. Will try this year for burgers when we go camping memorial day weekend. Cleanup is easy just leave in hot coals and food residue burns off.

Not large enough.
Does a great job of cooking burgers. It has a 3-1/2" cooking area. Too small for an average hamburger bun. Should be at least 4-1/2". If it were bigger it would be a great product. The slots top and bottom make it cook very nicely. Disappointed, but to be fair it's a well made product.

Hamburger maker for the campfire
This will be nice when we have a campfires, some people do not like hotdogs to eat, but would love to have a hamburger instead. The only thing I would recommend is if you have kids or older people who do not have a lot of strength in there arms, is to get the single burger maker for them, because the double one might be too heave for them to lift up long enough to cook a burger.
