Near perfect solution, and it emulates the original pre-Retina MagSafe perfectly!
Overall I think this is an awesome add-on for the MacBook Pro. It’s similar to the original pre-Retina Pro MagSafe’s in that it’s a sideways/flush cable as opposed to the more recent MagSafe 2’s which stuck out. Cons The magnet could be a little stronger, and the base could be a bit more secure, but it’s a nice piece in general. My complaints, other than the two above would be that the LED indicator only indicates that it is providing power to the MacBook (green light) and does not act as a status indicator (red/amber for charging, green for charged). I also don’t really like that it’s a chrome finish as opposed to a matte one on the magnetic side. Pros I’ve tried other iterations of this, each costing more or less the same (generally more), and this is BY FAR the best implementation I’ve seen and is most in-line with Apple’s design. The charger doesn’t get hot like some others do, and you don’t lose pass through speeds for data, or energy suck/loss when charging. It’s also the PERFECT thickness and shape so that it doesn’t awkwardly hang off the side and instead looks like it’s meant to fit alongside the MacBook Pro. The materials used are mostly a similar grain aluminum to that used on the Pro, so it doesn’t look different, and it feels higher quality than most I’ve tried. Most importantly, it delivers on its promise of easily attaching and detaching. An accidental trip test helped verify that I have nothing to worry about when this is plugged in. EDIT: The more I use it, the more I’ve come to love it.

Just What the New MacBook Pro 16" Needed!
I recently upgraded to a new 2019 MacBook Pro 16". After 3 prior MB Pro's with MagSafe ports I missed the convenience and safety of the magnetic connection. After some searching I found this solution to my problem and after reading the many positive reviews decided to give it a try. First, the quality of the adapter is very good. It comes nicely packaged and looks like a product you might get directly from Apple. I, as other people, had questions about the orientation of the adapter as all the photos on the product page show the Thunderbolt cable feeding towards the front of the laptop and I prefer mine going towards the back. As you can see in my photos, the adapter is bi-directional and can easily be oriented towards the back. You can also see that it does not interfere with using the second Thunderbolt port on that side with a standard size cable. It works perfectly with the 96W adapter and standard cable that came with my MacBook. The LED is always green (versus being yellow when charging) indicating it is successfully connected and providing power to the port. The magnet strength is nicely balanced and makes connecting and disconnecting the power much easier than aligning and pushing the standard cable in and out of the port. I am very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it if you are looking to add the MagSafe functionality of prior MacBooks to the newer models that have abandoned it.

Worked exactly for 1 month
I bought the product based on the reviews I was looking for a Magsafe alternative to protect my MacBook Pro from dropping it after yanking on charging cable or destroying the USB-C port. I am very pleased with the charging speed and data transfer of the product. Magnet is very strong and did the job exceptionally. However, fast-forward 1 month, I can not return the product anymore. My Mac stopped charging, after spending some time debugging the issue and ruling out that it was not the battery or faulty cable. I inspected the connector and saw corrosion on the pins, and after a closer look at the actual USB-C adapter, I found out the connector is all corroded and has oxidation on it, which prevents it from performing its job, due to poor connection. It's a shame that it worked exactly for the duration of the return policy. TL;DR Really enjoyed the product until it stopped working due to corrosion and oxidation in the UBS-C port. Update: Even though the adapter stopped working, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a personalized note, replacement adapter, and additional adapter in the mail. Definitely, great customer service, very personalized, which you don't see these days anymore, hence updated from 2 stars to 4 stars, will try out new adapters.

Strong magnet and works during gaming or other high load activity. Works on my Mac and Dell laptops.
I have a 2018 15" MacBook Pro with an i7 in it that I use for software development, running multiple IDEs and Parallels and all that load doesn't seem to effect charging in any way. I also have a Dell Precision 5530 with an i9 and 32GB of RAM (the Business equivalent of the XPS 15 9570) that I use for gaming and using this magnet doesn't seem to effect the charge rate or performance in any way either. The magnet itself is strong enough that it won't flop off like other brands. But not so strong that you have to pry it off or that the USB-C plug will come out. It is just right. See images (black is the Dell, Silver is the Mac): On either laptop there is ample space to still be able to plug in other devices with this plugged in. And the good thing is that you can plug it in one way, or flip it around 180 degrees depending on the fit you need. On the Dell computer you can see it will either block the headset jack or the HDMI port depending on which direction you attach it. But hopefully you don't need both at the same time. If I ever do, I figure I could solve that problem with a low-profile headset jack adapter. All in all I give this an A+ for charge capacity, build quality, and magnetic strength.

1. I use it primarily to return my Macbook to the magsafe style charging and it works right out of the box. 2. The magnet is strong enough that it does not just fall off, but if yanked it disconnects like I want it to. 3. It kind of blocks the other USB port. I do not see how you can use the other port while using this. 4. It also works for my external hard disk, so I am assuming it will work with a flash drive as well. 5. It looks and feels high quality. Shipping was fast and packaging was good. If there is a way to design this so that it does not block the other USB port, it will be perfect. Otherwise, I can suffice with unplugging the charger and using its ability to transfer data.

It's good solution. Mimicking Apple magsafe, but the problem is, magnet is not that strong. It gets detached easily

I bought this magnetic adapter after doing a bit of surface research and reading a bunch of reviews online and on Amazon. This one had quite a few good ones, but was more expensive than others. Bought it anyways. In the beginning I was very happy with it. The USB-C bit find very tight and didn’t move or wiggle at all. But after a few weeks I noticed that the bit connected to the cable would slightly move around (see video), leading to loss of connection. Apparently someone didn’t factor into the design that not everyone keeps their MacBook flat on a table top, and forgot about the strain from the cable on the bit. I just missed the Amazon return window, so I might need to contact the seller directly or try to apply some very runny CA glue to fix the wobbling and prevent connection loss. And will only use it when about, but not on my desk. In its current stage: cannot fully recommend. Buy at your own risk
