Not sure this really is five stars, but it does exactly what it advertises
This $199 Tele Converter fits the Olympus Stylus 1http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZEJ3XG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1But requires a $40 adapter "tube"http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GY4O9US/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Bringing the full delivered price ( with Amazon Prime, of course) to $239. More than a third the price of the Stylus 1, selling today for $629. (Price has fallen from $699 to $649 to $629. New model on the way?The Stylus 1 has ( I actually discovered after buying the physical teleconverter) a digital "doubler." It seems to work a lot better and yield better results than the digital zoom in my earlier cameras. The onboard digizoom essentially yields the equivalent of a 600 mm zoom. The teleconverter with the camera's own lens boosts to 510 mm zoom equivalent. Couple that with the onboard "doubler," and you're at a mind boggling 1020 mm in a very small form factor for such zoom.As with so many other Amazon reviewers, I've not had this device long enough to have enough experience with what it can do. Best I can tell, its optical quality is first rate. It does not interfere with the camera's F 2.8 across the zoom range. And it does bring things really, really close. An interesting feature is that the camera's onboard lens fits inside the adapter tube. And unless it is zoomed far enough out, it will create a vignette effect of a dark circle since the lens is actually capturing the inside of the adapter tube at short extension. I sorta' like the vignette effect and have been playing with it.The adapter tube is also useful for attaching 55mm "accessories" onto the camera.I bought these items because I'm hoping (as I learn how to use its considerable complexity) to get several years from my new Stylus 1 --- and I was concerned the accessories might be discontinued when the camera is inevitably "upgraded" at a year or less from introduction. If you're buying a Stylus 1, try it out first, and for at least a couple of weeks. Then consider whether you need the adapter tube and Teleconverter. As between the two, I would recommend buying the adapter tube since you CAN screw into its 55mm threads more than this Zoom Converter. On the other hand, if you're a long lens photographer, this will definitely add much capability to the Stylus 1.

Adds zoom to my XZ-1
I tried this, with the required adapter, on my Olympus XZ-1, which is my favorite small point and shoot camera but doesn't pack a lot of zoom in its lens. This converter provides a significantly expanded zoom range. The XZ-1's f1.8 lens is great for low light shooting and I wanted to try a longer zoom with the wide aperture that the XZ-1 offers. I took several test photos with it which appeared clear, although I didn't do extensive pixel-peeping when reviewing them on the computer.I'm giving this five stars because it worked as I expected and didn't disappoint. That said, I ended up returning this converter and the associated adapter - but not for reasons that should reduce my rating of the product itself.First, this thing is just bigger than I expected. That was my bad, not any problem with the accuracy of the product listing or description. When I put the adapter and this converter onto my camera, the whole shebang felt bulky, compared to the camera alone.Second, comparing the size of the camera/adapter/converter setup, I might as well carry one of my other cameras with comparable zoom instead. For budgetary reasons, this converter and its adapter just didn't give me enough value for the expenditure. So I returned it.If your main camera is an XZ-1 or any of the other cameras that this converter works with, and you want the extra zoom, this could be a great purchase. I have alternatives and decided that I didn't need to add this to my collection of camera gear.

Help!
Any way to add a protective or a filter lens on the TCON 17-X? I do not see any threads. All suggestions are welcomed. I am still waiting for the step up ring to arrive and will change my stars then.

Zooming Woodpecker!!!
I had been searching for a way to extend the reach of my Sony A6000 zoom lens. The Sony "e-mount" 55 to 210 manual zoom lens is the longest lens I have been able to find. This teleconverter easily mounted on my Sony lens with the use of a 49 to 55 step-up ring. The 1.7 factor now gives me the equivalent of a 535 mm lens on a 35 mm camera (210mm multiplied by the 4/3 sensor equivalent of 1.5, and then multiplied by the 1.7 teleconvertor factor yields 535 mm).I love the results. Here are two photographs of a Pileated Woodpecker taken just after a snow storm in very low light (i.e. dark clouds). The only difference between the two images is whether I have the teleconverter on my Sony lens.I estimate I was 30 yards from the Pileated Woodpecker, and it in turn was about 40 feet up in the tree. One final note, the lens will arrive by "slow boat from China", or in this case Japan. The vendor was up front about the long shipping time. Be aware this purchase will not provide instant gratification! I waited three weeks for the equipment to arrive.

Why the refund?????
Amazon, I still have to get the item I ordered from Japan. You are already presuming the item got lost in the mail. Is that why you’re giving me a refund, without even giving me reason? I am so unhappy with your customer service. Please somebody, get back with me. I need to know why you are refunding my money for the Olympus Teleconverter. I bought an adapter/connector just for my Olympus Teleconverter lens so, it can be attached to my telephoto lens, for my Sony a6000.
