Henna (Persian) - Persian Burgundy (Dark Auburn), 4 oz ( 2 Pack) Review: Lid open, exploded all over everything! - This Henna is generally good but this shipment arrived with lid open and powder loose ruining everything else in the box! Also I bought this assuming Iโd get 2 jars (listing says โ4 oz2โ and other colors arrived with 2 jars at this price) โ Review: Pretty brown-red - This burgundy isn't what I'd call a Loreal burgundy by any means, but it is a very pretty dark auburn. It is a nice change from the bright BRIGHT red ( but still pretty) reg henna. I even tried Lush brand brown henna and got very bright red hair. Pretty...but very red. This is much tamer. Plus, you use it right after mixing and it only has to sit on your hair for 75min. I've used 3 brands of henna. They all smell like dead grass. Not unbearable. But this time I added some essential oil and it smelled a bit better. It took more boiling water than the one cup the instructions call for. Just add slowly because too thin is a huge mess. Lush brand is more of a hassle to mix since you need a double boiler. It's exactly like washing mud outta your hair, and since you aren't supposed to use shampoo for awhile I rinse it in the shower. It covered my Snow White roots very well. I will definetly buy this brand again. Henna is permanent in my hair. No fading whatsoever. So be committed. It's been a good choice for me. I've used permanent hair dye for 20+ yrs. I didn't want the carcinogens all over my scalp any more. My hair feels very healthy. I'm a paleface and so far have never had a problem dying the skin on my face. I use gloves because I understand your nails will dye black. I have short hair, that is very thick. I used one 4oz package. Long hair would definitely take two. Have two long strips of cling wrap torn and at the ready. I use an old robe reserved for hair dying only.

Great Color and product
Henna takes some getting used to, it's messy and takes time to process but well worth the effort. Also all hennas wash out and leave hair dry after first application so use good conditioner after rinsing out any henna. I have been doing henna for a year now and my hair is in great shape at 57 yr. old. I have scattered gray not sure it would work on a total gray head but you would have to try it to see. I love this product!

For very dark brown hair, ..doesn't work very well. Update
I'm 1/4 Asian, the rest likely to be Spanish, of the Southern, brunette type. I was using Garnier dye for dark color but decided to give henna a try, since all those potentially carcinogenic chemicals are scary. I'm not looking for a full red, I'm aware that my hair is very dark, however, I wanted it to at least shine reddish under light. The portions of my hair that still have the Garnier dye do this and are in fact a reddish brown. However, the parts in which henna is the only color on my natural hair have very little shine. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference (mostly because the garnier dye has faded and almost blended with my color over time, which is a reason I like it), but I can, and the difference is that there is very little red on my real hair. I'll keep exploring other natural options, and probably leave this for much longer next time I apply it, see of that makes it better. .......................... Update Second time I use it it works much better (yes, I take long to dye again, very busy). I don't know exactly what triggered the improvement but here's what I did, and the color is much more visible, and I'm happy with it. - I mixed the henna with 'very' hot water, - also added lemon juice (1-2 tblspoons maybe, I wasn't measuring), - left the mixture to rest for a day on the counter (it's coolish here, ~65F) - applied generously the very thick original paste but ran out so had to prepare more, again with hot water (but faucet hot only) and lemon, - left it for three hours with a bath cap on - occasionally, I removed the plastic bath cap, and used the air dryer in the hot setting on my henna-covered hair (I read about how heat is important for the color to come out and stain) for some time (10-15mins) - I did this twice. Rinsed (with hot water) and shampooed as usual. It was very nice when dry and out in the light :-)

This brand is better than Surabaya because I left one hour
I am Asian white hair. This brand is better than Surabaya because I left one hour;consequently,no more white hair. I use only half bottle it is ok for my long hair. Mix with water only.
