High quality at a bargain price
I bought this for my son who is on the autism spectrum. We saw a violin performance on TV and he was amazed. He really wanted to try lessons, but he has a tendency to get excited about a new activity and drop it shortly after. I didn't want to sink a lot of money into an instrument so I was excited to see this at such a good price. I was expecting something a little better than a toy, but I was blown away by the quality. It's a real instrument that looks beautiful and sounds amazing. I also love the case that it comes in. It really cushions the violin so it is safe from normal wear and tear. I like that it can be carried by a handle on the side or as a backpack. It contains everything you need to get started like strings and a matching bow. This is perfect for a beginner or even as a secondary instrument for a student to use at school.

Beautiful violin for beginner
Beautiful violin I bought for my granddaughter who is 7. My son wanted to send it back due to the tuning. You have to watch the video as this is not a guitar. Itโs tuned now sounds good and very happy with the purchase

This is a beginner violin!
I gave this violin five stars because it is exactly what I was expecting. I am an older person and have never played a violin before though I have played the clarinet. Because of asthma and wanting to still play music, I opted for the violin as it has a beautiful sound if played correctly. It came beautifully packaged and undamaged with all the appropriate pieces included in a prompt manner. It is difficult to hold the tuning on this violin but really. This is a beginner violin!! I had a slipping peg but with a little instruction from several youtubers I got it corrected to where this is not a problem currently. I will probably upgrade the bow and I am already upgrading the chinrest. This is one of the most difficult instruments to play period. I believe this is a great beginner instrument for those of us who want to try and have a limited budget. If I am still trying in a year or so, I will probably upgrade the violin itself but for the money, a great deal in my opinion. Update: Approximately 5 weeks and two of the fine tuners are not functioning properly. I have purchased a new tailpiece with replaceable fine tuners. I had planned to make some additions/changes to some of the parts such as strings, bridge, chin rest, and the tuners but hadn't planned to do it so soon. Even with this development, I am still pleased with the violin itself. Just be aware that it can be enhanced. Still a good place to start your journey as a violinist.

SUPPER BAD NEVER AND NEVER AND PLEASE DONT BUY. YOU'RE WASTING MONEY
This is literally one of the worst violins you can get. First off, this is such a low price for a violin, and then let's talk about the sound quality. IT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. It's super scratchy sound, gets out of tune way too often, and has very low quality looks and sounds. It says for beginners. BUT PLEASE DON'T GET IT FOR THEM, IT IS JUST GONNA MAKE THEM WORSE. THIS VIOLIN SHOULD BE BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plays and sounds exactly like a Stradivarius
My first violin ever, I was able to get it set up fine in a half hour with help from YouTube, and I discovered, to my amazement, that it plays and sounds exactly like a Stradivarius. And for the first 500 hours or so of my playing violin, that will remain true. After 10,000 hours of playing? Maybe not. But for those first 500 hours this instrument, as long as it is set up properly (which is difficult with any violin), definitely isnโt going to be the weak point in my product. Would I feel better starting with a $350 kit than a $79 one? Maybe, but I might in turn be scared of damaging it (these are all fragile) and the investment would be at turns motivating and guilt-inducing alike. Itโs the low points of the experience we have to watch out for, when you feel enough disgust to quit. Getting a new violin at the 500 hour mark will be a signal of progress and a boost of enthusiasm; if I survive that long I will also have a better idea what to look for in a fiddle. To get your instrument set up and start out with good habits maybe take a couple lessons (strictly understanding in advance what will be covered...do not pay for a lecture on how much discipline you will need to show) or perhaps better see if the old guy at the music shop will help for $20 or so hoping youโll come back for your upgrades. A critical thing is having it be fully comfortable to play, I had to sand the โtoothโ off the chin rest that was poking me in the neck and the shoulder rest took a lot of adjusting to be right. Make this about having fun developing a skill. Maybe youโll get to 10,000 hours and maybe even wind up with a Stradivarius after all.

Toy or Instrument?
I bought this based off of the other reviews. First off all the string came off of the tighteners and I had to restring the violin....NOT an easy task. Because I had to restring it the piece that hold the strings up in the middle of the violin kept popping out. Tightening the strings and tuning it was also a crazy feat. The strings kept loosening up and the tuning pegs kept popping out of the holes. Like I said, it was not an easy task. Once I got it together(half an hour later) it was fine. I realize this was not an expensive violin. I totally get that. The bow and the accessories was very nicely made. I just don't think the pegs are going to stay in and keep the violin in tune. Also, there were no instructions on how to put on the chin guard. We finally just left it off. For the money it is fine, but if she becomes serious about her lessons (bought this for my granddaughter who wants to learn) then I'm going to have to buy a more expensive violin.

Good first violin
My daughterโs first violin was good. I didnโt want to pay a lot of she decided not to play more than one year. No issues and she will keep playing!

Good Violin, Poor Bow
The violin is great, tuned very easily and stays tuned pretty well. The bow came with some of the hair torn and hanging, so I cut those hairs off. Not all the hairs get tight when tensioning the bow, and it seems to make the sound a bit inconsistent. Rosin seems fine, and the case is awesome. Worth every penny tho.

Cheap garbage product
We bought this as a graduation present for our son as he really wanted a violin. It showed up we had to hold on to it until he was done school. When he opened it it all looked so good. Until he went to work tighten the strings to play it. The keys won't tighten on it and it un Ravel's over and over again. Because it won't tighten you can't get any sound out of it. Went to return it as a defective item it says they won't do returns or defective warranty after 30 days. Wrote the company an email about it a week ago and no response. I would highly suggest looking else where before you waste you money on this product. Will never buy from this brand again. Sorry to my 11 year old who got this for working so hard to pass his classes for it.

Great for beginners
It's a great buy for beginner at this price, the size is very fit for my 10 years old kid who just starting play violin at school and the sound is nice, I should admit the sound is not as beautiful as those big brand violin from local store but that will cost over 600 or more! so for beginner who want to have a try before make big investment, this violin is really a good choice for them to start. so far my kid play this violin over 1 month and she like it. one comments: if you find the violin go out of tune quickly, my teacher said it's normal for a new violin, it could take a few weeks to settle down, and most cause for earlier out of tune is due to the peg slip which you can add some chalk to make it tight.

Decent Beginner Violin, but with some cheap-looking parts...
Pros: 1) The body of the violin looks pretty good. Seems sturdy and well-made. 2) Strings are ok. 3) Bow looks good, hairs are all in place, decent enough for beginners. 4) Case is very well padded. Your instrument will be well protected. Cons: 1) The Tailpiece -- it's 95% plastic and looks like crap. I replaced it with a better one from an older violin. 2) The shoulder rest accessory is also crap. Good to use for awhile, until you find a good deal on a KUN or some other brand. 3) The zippers on the case are hard to open, it gets stuck in certain places. Some people say you should save for a better $500 or $700 violin for beginners. Maybe so--if you plan for your kid to do this as a career, or to play in concerts/etc. But if your kid is just doing this as a hobby, part of music education at school, or just coz learning an instrument is fun or cool, you do not need to spend $500 bucks or more. You can rent or get a cheaper one like this and just replace that crappy/junk parts. Replacing the parts is easy, you can learn it from Youtube.

Very Nice Violin Set!
My son would like to learn violin and I fully support him. I was searching for a good violin set at local musical stores, but didn't find anything we like. Then I was able to find this violin set from amazon.ca. The price is very reasonable. Amazon had very fast delivery and the violin set was intact when I received it at home. The whole set has everything we needed for my son to learn. It has a nice hollow wooden body with attractive colour. The case is very convenient for my son to carry it. I learned violin when I was a child. When I tried and played it, I love the sound of this violin. I would recommend this violin to other parents if their children want to learn to play violin.
