Is this the first batch with the very short waist belt?

I don't believe so I think the waist belt is standard size - I have a 38 inch waist fits me with room to spare

To the people saying it’s made in Idaho, this is false. The tag on the inside of the bag says made in Vietnam. It’s a nice bag, it’s be hard to make something of this quality domestically at that price point, so I never assumed it was us made. That being said, I see a lot of wrong answers.

Any ideas on attaching an ice axe to this?

If you had a sheath for said ax you could probably paracord it to some of the molle on the side.
