Great Mic For a Solo Artist
I added this microphone to my extensive collection. I have a lot of classic mics that I've collected since the 80's. I wanted to try a modeling mic but wanted a small one for my desk. I did not need a multipattern mic at my desk and that might influence your buying choices. This one fit the bill, I have it mounted on a scissor type radio desk mount at my desk for quick access. I find this mic is very clear and stands out when I'm tracking my voice. I use the classic mic models for processing when I'm mixing. On my voice [I'm a baritone] I don't notice the models so much in solo but they do make a HUGE difference in the mix. I've been experimenting with an all virtual studio. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, a producer/engineer with an extensive discography and mostly due to the covid epidemic, I have been unable to build yet another studio. If I had one criticism I would like to see Antelope include a more effective pop filter with this mic. I've had this mic for over a year as of this writing and I have had zero problems. I have used this mic on a solo project and this one has become my favorite and I've replaced all of the other tracks where I've used other mics. I do turn the phantom power off when I'm not using the mic and though it stays on the stand on my desk, it stays covered when not in use. As to the previous negative review all I can say is that there is no manufacturer that has a zero failure rate for their products.

Edge Solo defectuoso

Great mic with emulations
This mic sounds great by itself but it also has emulations of higher end mics but you do need a ilok dongle in order to use.but once all done it's great and I have the antelope audio zen go interface so it works better together.i got all in bundle were I got all plugins free theres like 90 instead of the 37 and also I got discount on interface and mic.so it was an extremely good deal so I tried it out.and the customer service was great no hassle might have to call couple of times but it's not bad as everyone says honestly.

Excellent All Purpose Mic
I own both this mic and the Slate ML-1. I have to say that I mostly prefer the Slate due to the flexibility of the software and the emulations themselves. It’s really up to personal preference, I suppose. But I do like the sound of Slate’s emulations better when comparing the two back to back. Making them more subtle like Antelope did with theirs seems like an odd choice to me, a feature where you can increase or decrease the effect of the emulation seems severely missing from Antelope’s software after getting used to it on the Slate. That said, this is a great mic on its own. The biggest advantage for me personally over the Slate is that I am able to use the emulations outside of my DAW with my Antelope Zen Go. The other huge advantage over the Slate is the sheer number of emulations. There are a lot. On the ML-1, they only included the top tier $10k+ mics. The Antelope has most of those and many more such as the SM7b and RE20. The area where I think the Slate comes short is as a voiceover/podcast mic. I’m usually singing, but I also regularly make the rounds on podcasts or do voice overs for videos I create. When I compared the Antelope to the Slate for voice over work, it blew it out of the water. One issue I have with the Slate is that the consonants can often be way too much. With less top end, this mic doesn’t have that issue. However, that also means the Slate has a bit more energy in the sound. Antelope’s best emulation is the SM7b. It does a killer job of emulating that mic, largely due to the proximity effect this mic has. It actually behaves very similarly to the SM7b which is known for having a more pronounced low end when you get close to the mic. The Antelope does the same and when you use it with the SM7b emulation, it mimics the mic extremely well. Overall, you can’t go wrong here. And for the price, you’re getting a killer mic locker along with it with makes is an excellent value.

4.5 stars, worth every penny
First off, getting it set up might be a bit of a hassle. I had to deactivate my Zen Q in Launcher to get it to pair with the mic model software. After I got it installed, I noticed that a lot of the emulations seemed really samey. That's because the default setting is to monitor both the mic and the emulation. To fix this, click the bar where it says "Preamp 1" or Preamp 2" etc and choose "EMU" instead. You'll then see the name of the emulation you had selected in that drop-down list of inputs...click that choice and voila, you should hear the emulation 100%. I almost returned mine before I figured that out. The emulations are both spot-on AND sound great. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the installation process, which seems pretty common for Antelope products. They make AMAZING stuff, but getting it running to completion is a bit of an adventure.

Not worth your time, cash or sanity
Never functioned as advertised from day one. I'm a 50 year veteran of top level studios with a forté in boutique mics. Picked this mic up with a Zen interface for the experiment to compare Antelope's claims to the real McCoys listed within their catalog of modeled mimics. A) This mic is a noise fest worthy of a dumpster. Even when isolated through a $100k custom built boutique mic rack, it's a catastrophe. B) There's no way on earth the IRs in Antelope's catalog of 18 premiere mics will ever come close to the real thing. If you get hammered on Yukon Jack and blast Finnish speed metal through your ears at 140 decibels for two hours then use Antelope's models; you might be impressed. But your also tone deaf and numb. C) All of that is if you can get their horrendously convoluted nightmare of a licensing system to release the software to speak to the hardware and vice versa. And then you'll struggle with the hardware even functioning. I never enjoyed a single session with Antelope gear because the 96-192 hour licensing+customer support process just to get the units to function (poorly) ruined any inspiration or motivation I had originally began with. D) You will be required to purchase and initiate iLoks for all of your Antelope gear. In addition; there is a 3 stage licensing process that requires a live Internet connection to a licensing server that must be executed and connected perpetually or your gear is useless. In other words; they could also be collecting/recording all of your sessions on their end in real time as you produce. You will never use their gear without them knowing about it nor will you ever get anything done without hours of licensing prep to initiate their shockingly invasive licensing network. Ans let's face it; iLoks are for rookies, children and foreign capitalist swine with no real interest in audio production from the gate. E) Your time and serenity are priceless: If you want the best gear, purchase the best audio gear on earth instead of that Corvette or that idiotic Audi. Your tone will live in your head forever, cars and boats come and go but hand built mics last forever. If you are a struggling musician, use the cheapest mic you can find that doesn't break down or distort under the full forbearance of your bellowing voice. The rest is post production. Ronnie James Dio used his own trashed garage sale mic on his studio recordings that cost about the same as an Italian hoagie... Just because it's expensive or has a bunch of marketing data does not make it good or more importantly, the right mic for you. F) Antelope has a long long long way to go before they pursuade me to endorse anything they stand for. Regardless of their (pitiful) products, their licensing requirements are nothing short of insulting and probable cause for an SEC investigation. If I were to initiate my own milspec operation, I'm sure the results would be extraordinarily enlightening to my brothers and colleagues in the defense and intelligence communities.

Ilok
If you don't have the antelope inteface you need to use a ilok to save the plugins that come with the microphone otherwise you will not be able to use it with other daws.

Returned
Zen yo wouldn’t work with my M1 MacBook Pro, so the mic was a package deal and was returned as well.
