20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne published in 1870. It tells the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus, as seen from the perspective of Professor Pierre Aronnax after he, his servant Conseil, and Canadian whaler Ned Land wash up on their ship. On the Nautilus, the three embark on a journey which has them going all around the world, under the sea. Review: Fabulous story - This book with all the interesting facts about the ocean and its sea life kept me at my phone (on the internet) constantly. I followed the Nautilus's path, and often looked up what the sea life was, along with the suboceanic geology so accurate as known in the 19th century. The characters were brilliantly brought to life. There's an enormous amount of facts and adventures to enjoy. I'll move on to the next Verne classic now. Review: A classic science fiction/adventure novel - If you have not read this then you are missing out on a great piece of literature. This is a timeless classic that those who enjoy science fiction likely will enjoy reading.

Mercier Translation
This is the translation by Mercier. I wouldn’t pick this up if this is still by Wordsworth. The Mercier translation isn’t the most accurate to the original translations and has dialogue compounded into paragraphs or omitted. Reading other translations often had a better flow to the story as well. I’m rating the book 5 as it’s still a great story. But diving down the Twenty Leagues rabbit hole has opened me up to some interesting stuff about the translations.

Lackluster
Honestly the intro makes it sound action packed, but it's a little underwhelming. Very interesting though. I did enjoy it for the most part.
