I bought this two years ago & it’s still going strong. The mat catches litter from paws exiting the litter box & from the scoop when I’m cleaning the litter box. It’s easy to dump the trapped litter & cleans well with a hose & soft brush & air drys quickly. I highly recommend this mat!

We are doing some home renovations and our loft / cat area was the first area to be done. Previously, we had some ugly, multi-colored mat which was supposed to help grab the litter out the cat paws, but it was too large to collect and dump the litter. It also was very sloppy looking. I wanted something a bit smaller & easier to control, which would also match our new flooring and not look so gaudy. I came across this mat design. There are multiples of these mats for sale. Initially, the large mats I bought from a different seller were not large enough. Their picture was misleading and it's hard to judge dimensions for your actual needs until you see them in person. I did another search and came across these mats which were much larger. My husband commented that they looked TOO BIG after they arrived. Well, I started using them immediately and can see that is not the case. I want them long so that when the cats walk away, the rest of the litter sprinkles into the mat, & not all over the floor. I love the long size for that purpose. I was also able to easily overlap them to go with our two litter boxes that we have under a table, to help control odors. I was afraid they'd gap and not lay flat. The mats did have some waves in them when they arrived. We sat them under the heavy cat food bin for about 24 hours, but really, they're large enough that by the time we put them to use, they flattened on their own. I think I've read mention of an odor, which they may have had when I pulled them out, but they lay in an open area. No one is using them as bed pillows so the smell dissipated quickly and was not bothersome at all. Since the area was still under minor construction, and the litter boxes & mats kept getting yanked out & moved around, I didn't get to try them out officially until today. Because the mats are large, you need to take care when you pick them up because litter will sprinkle out as you pick them up off the floor. I folded them to pour into the litter box. Here's why I gave them 4 stars. I may go back & amend my review to 5 stars if I discover that I just needed to get the hang of dumping INTO the litter boxes. The problem is that the solid bottom is shorter than the top part of the mat. So first, you need to not only fold the mat, you need to angle it backward. For the first mat, I thought I had it lined up to pour into the litter box, but because the bottom is shorter, I was mistaken, and poured the litter on the floor. So I did it again, with the second mat, and tried to line it up. I was confident I had it lined up, but again, that shorter bottom gave me the illusion that I was lined up and I proceeded to pour it all over the floor again. Now, if your litter boxes do NOT have a top on them or you choose to take the tops off to clean, you can easily dump the litter into the box and not all over the floor. But I am usually pressed for time and do quick clean-ups of the litter box area and would prefer not to have to pull the boxes out, take the lids off, etc. What I may do is pour the litter into something else and then dump it. I really think this would be solved if the bottom was longer than the top. I'm unsure why they would design in this way. If anything, the top should be shorter than the bottom. Regardless, I would order these mats again and I would recommend them to others.

I bought the big one and smaller one to cover as much space as possible. I just received it today, so I can't confirm the durability. As for function, I think this is exactly what I was looking for. I can see how it'll trap all the pesky litter granules. I can see how dumping the collected litters will be easy job. I like the feel of stepping on it- we have the litter box on a short table, in a small hall way, so people can't avoid stepping litter box area. It's light and gym foam mat feel. Yes it came folded up for shipping. I've placed heavy books to flatten it out- it's working. Smell isn't bad at all. It smells like new yoga mat. It's been only couple of hours out the bag and the smell is lot less noticeable already. As the the price, it's bit pricey but everything is expensive these days. If it works as well as I think it will- it's worth it. I think it will last a long time. I don't understand why people might replace it every 3 months ( the manufacturer's note suggests this). I will update this review if I'm disappointed in any way.

Yes it catches the litter and works great till a hole develops in the backing. Both of the ones I got ended up with holes in the back after a couple of months. Might work better for less active cats than mine.

I have had cats my whole life. I currently have 3 and was getting so tired of them kicking out the litter. I had been using the standard litter boxes without the high sides, so that contributed to the mess. When looking for high sided litter boxes (my cats are too big for covered ones and that will be my next invention - extra large litter domes) I came across this item. I have had those litter mats you can get at Target, etc, but those did pretty much nothing except frustrate me more since I had the HOPE they would help. I had nothing to lose with ordering this off Amazon thinking I could send it back once I realized it didn't work like the others. WRONG!!! It works. As a lifelong cat mommy I am happy to say this is a product that WORKS and helps save time and frustration from the cats tracking litter all over the place. I was concerned the material would bother my cats paws and they would step around it (or try), but this hasn't been a problem. It is soft. The mat is easy to clean. I typically just vacuum over it or better, I just use the attachment of vacuum to suck out the little bits of litter granules. Since the mat opens on one end (think of it like a sleeping bag) you can also insert the vacuum hose in there, which is probably the easiest or dump back into the litter box. I ended up ordering more for other litter boxes!!! I HIGHLY recommend.

My daughter told me about this mat and I'm so glad I bought it. Keeps my cats litter controlled and easy to re-empty as needed.

Maybe it's because I'm a smaller person, or because I'm using it in a smaller space, but every time I go to dump the litter out of this thing half of it spills out the holes in the back rather than going down to the opening in the front. It's a bit unwieldy to wrangle, to get it open neatly without spilling everywhere. It does catch a decent amount though so long as your cats actually step on it, mine like to try and jump across it with their post-poop-zoomies. It's definitely better than other litter catching liners I've used, but honestly I tend to accidentally dump most of it on the floor and just sweep it up with the missed bits, but it keeps things MUCH tidier between doing so, so I'll give it a pass. It does also clean pretty well! I don't have a shower in my apartment, just a tub, but any messes on it have been wiped up easily, or I just toss it in the tub and dump cups of water on it and get a solid 90+% of the mess off. With an actual sprayer, I imagine you could get it totally clean with EASE.

The mat is big and looks solid enough, but it’s not as effective as I hoped for stopping litter spreading. Even with this down there still ends up being bits tracked around the place. Easy to rinse off and it does catch some, but not all.
