I’m new to HAM radio and setup a mobile VHF/UHF radio as my base station at home. I used an electronics enclosure (also found on Amazon) to create a neatly enclosed setup. The only problem was that the little built-in radio speaker was also in the enclosure and the audio wasn’t great. Thankfully, this speaker solves that problem! The speaker sounds great and the build quality is good. It comes with a mounting bracket. The sound is much clearer than through the radio speaker. It’s easy plug and play. It is a great value for the money.

The speaker arrived free with my radio and instantly upgraded it. The compact 71 mm design clips easily onto any car transceiver, and the 5 W output delivers clear, surprisingly loud audio without distortion—even in noisy environments. Battery life is solid, plug‑and‑play with a secure 3.5 mm jack, and the rugged housing survives daily road vibrations. Speaker has clean, rich volume. Makes my little radio sound like a full sized radio. Long cord, good price.

UPDATE: This seller sent a replacement believing that I had a defective speaker. They were correct. Much better on the replacement. Running my FT991A on it right now. Pretty good little speaker!!! Thanks for sending this!!! Total waste of money. I was building a "Shack In A Box" and bought this to test. I need 3 speakers and thought based on the reviews that this might be the speaker for the job. It is the worst sounding speaker since the old AM radios from the 1970's. Very disappointed to be honest. Terrible sounding speaker!

This is a great little speaker. I use it for a ham radio in my car. The one downside to it is that the built in cable is a little short; it would be nice to have it a couple feet longer for better placement and cable management options. In a smaller vehicle, it’s likely long enough for most people. If you have a medium to large sedan, suv, or truck, consider whether the cable length is sufficient. I have the speaker mounted by the driver’s side shoulder, connected to the radio underneath the passenger seat. The cable is routed through the plastic seat belt/trim cover, comes out at the floor, and runs under the driver seat to the passenger seat. Because of the length, it won’t quite lay along the floorboard where it runs behind the driver seat. Other than that, I’m very impressed with the sound quality, especially for the money. It wouldn’t be great for music listening, but it is excellent for voice, etc. At this price point, I recommend this product and will probably buy a second one in the future.

I have a 2m/70cm unit in my shack. The audio from the tiny speaker is marginal. I bought this and it greatly improved the sound level and quality. It’s nice and small and fits nicely on my desk.
