Its a great ceramic just dont drop it, it breaks.
I've bought maybe 12 of these over the years, if you drop them they break, they are ceramic thats what they do. They work great, I'm clumsy and I dont always pay attention to what I'm doing. Its a good quality knife sharp'n tool. I'll keep buying them๐

Very sharp
My husband said this works great if you know what you're doing with it. He says it leaves it very clean edge.

Ceramic Rod o' Doom!
Pictured with an ESEE Junglas II for scale, as you can see it is huge. Others have given measurements already if you need exactly ones for some reason. I JUST got this the other day, but I have already used it quite a bit on several blades to test it out. Yes it has a sticker that says "Made in Taiwan" on it, so it's "Proudly Made in the USA" claim is dubious, but it's fitness for purpose and quality is not. I took off one star simply because of that. The wood used for the handle is good quality and well adhered to the ceramic rod. The ceramic itself seems to be fine quality, and has stood up to a great deal of use from me already, on many size blades with various steels. It put a fine edge on them all, as one would expect a good ceramic rod to do. I purchased a large ceramic rod specifically for it's size, hoping that the quality would be adequate, and it is. The size makes it extremely easy to work with no matter what size blade you need to sharpen. Obviously this isn't something you're going to carry around with you typically, but it's a great home/shop tool. Of course if anything changes over the course of the lifetime of this tool that justifies it, I will post an update. As of right now though, it's very much worth the money!

Easy fast kitchen sharpener
Best "kitchen drawer" sharpener you can get. Puts on a clean razor edge after a few clicks. Light years ahead of using a steel.

Worth it!!
Much bigger than I anticipated but works great. Now that I have been using it for a couple of months, the size is perfect for almost all knives.

Outstanding, but some thoughts
>.. This is an outstanding CERAMIC ROD Sharpener. It will sharpen just about any knife it can see. BUT, some people on video are using it held out from the body like TV chefs do with their steels. >.. This is not a steel, and a steel is not a sharpener. As has been explained elsewhere a steel straightens out the edge of the knife, not put a new edge on it. A steel can extend the usefulness of the edge, though. >.. This ceramic rod is a sharpener, and is designed to be placed with the tip of the rod on a table or counter and held vertically. That's why the handle is shaped as it is, and not like a knife handle. With the flat tip on a rag or towel, and the handle held upright, it is easy to make even slices down on the right and left, sharpening the blade. NOTE: this tool is not for the finest culinary knives. Many of them have an edge design of less than 10 degrees, and even in the correct position, it is very hard to maintain a 10 degree edge through the whole stroke. They need other sharpening done, usually using wet stones of very fine grit. >.. This ceramic rod will sharpen anything that can be stroked down the rod, or rubbed along a vice stabilized blade (axe, lawn-mover blade, etc.} I would not use on scissors. When thinking about axe or machete or many tools, sharp at the very tip and fatter above, allows the tool to cut, and release as the blunt follows the sharp widening the cut and releasing the sharp edge of the blade.
