Syma S107 3 Channel RC Helicopter with Gyro, Green

Let me tell you about this syma micro heli. I think i am more than qualified to give a objective review. I own 7 different 3 channel micro coaxial heli's, plus another 8 helis's of all kinds. I have been flying rc helis since the mid 70's. Back then the helis didn't even fly and there wasn't anything called a gyro. Some people consider me to be a expert rc heli pilot. I consider my self just to be a good 3d heli pilot. I can't find any difference between a s107 and a s107G except some of the colors. I bought 2 extra syma s107G's just for parts. Maybe some day i will need the parts. I have wore out tons of batteries but my 107's are still flying. I have crashed them into the ceiling, walls, the fan, the stove and my dog grabed it right out of the air. These are the most durable micros i have. I have one 107 with all the modifications you can intall on it. For relaxed flying i just perfer the stock version except for one change. I install the 240ma battery you can buy here on amazon. I get 2 more minutes flying time out of this battery. Also it makes the heli nose heavy. When you let go of the stick the heli always starts foward. This helps if you get des-orinatated. Yes this even happens to the best heli pilots. In a hover i just hold a little back stick. This is a habit i have from flying the nitro burning helis. With this battery when you lift the heli up by the flybar the rear of the skids lift a 1/4 inch off the surface before the front part of the skids do. This is perfect for me. Here is a example. If you lose orintation of the heli and it is backing up when you let go of the sticks the heli will stop and start slowly forward and give you a chance to reorintate with the heli. If the heli is laying on it side on the floor i just give it throttle and the heli uprights itself, really neat. I use JST connectors on the heli and batteries. This allows me to just plug battery's in the heli. Here is some advice. If you just want to have a lot of fun you just can't beat a syma 107 for fun, durability, cost to operate, and reliability. I have over 300 flights on my 107's and they are still going strong. Now if you want to progress to flying regular rc heli's then buy a four channel heli either coaxial, fixed pitch, or collective.The 3 channel heli teaches you one very bad habit that is very hard to ovecome. In this country we fly what is called mode 2. This means the tail rotor is on the left stick not the right stick like a three channel. I personally feel the Blade mcx2 RTF is the best 4 channel micro heli you can buy. You can purchase it right here on amazon for about $120.00. So if you want to eventualy fly the big nitro, gas, or electric heli's this is a great way to start. Whatever you decide just have fun. This is a very challenging hobby but well worth it.

I've been flying choppers and drones for many years now and I can say that I always come back to the syma s107 helicopters because they are the most fun and best value indoor helicopters. Sure you can find something faster but its going to be way more expensive and probably going to break easily. The construction of the s107 is outstanding for the price, I find it hard to believe that these only cost $20 to buy. I find them easy to control and extremely hard to break. Disclosure - I have seen some friends get unlucky and their unit has broken early on with a big crash......but more often than not I've seen these things take a beating and continue to fly. I took a video of my son flying the s107g. Sure hes flown before but this was his first time flying in a few months and he had to deal with some sidewind from n open window. Even with some moving air to contend with, he was able to easily fly it. I would say most of the bad reviews on here are from those who got unlucky. I do feel for them but as a prospective buyer you need to understand that its nothing to do with the quality of this helicopter. I have read people have trouble controlling the s107g. I find the opposite to be true. Im able to easily land mine on my helipad and also fly it through air gates at full speed. My son had a blast playing around with this helicopter trying to land it on the helipad and race through the hoops. Its affected by the sun and also majorly affected by the wind. Its really not worth it, more fun to be had inside. I actually prefer to fly indoors thesedays anyway in the comfort of my sofa! Another thing is the battery will only last about 5mins, if you are getting less than 2mins, you should get a new battery, they are quite easy to change over, just search it on youtube. A few things that might help you: 1. Put a small weight on the nose such as some bluetak. This will allow the chopper to move faster. It will also stop it from drifting backwards which is really annoying 2. Trim it on the ground before you take off. I like to put it on a hard surface and just spin the blades WITHOUT taking off. You can easily see if it needs to be trimmed. Simple turn the wheel until it doesnt spin anymore. Easier to do this on the ground before take off 3. Beginners LISTEN up. Make very small movements on the throttle when you are learning. Your wife / girlfriend / mother / flatmate can thank me later for saving you a few scratches of paint off the roof 4. Battery charging is crucial. Leave it 10mins to cool down when flat, then charge it up for about 45mins and take it off the charger. 5. Never overdischarge a battery. When it wont take off anymore, dont keep trying to fly it because you are wrecking the battery by discharging it too far. 6. Having somewhere to practice your landings will advance your flying quickly. Here is a link to the hoops and helipad. I have been buying these little copters for a couple of years now. They are fun and easy to control. But they are not what you might expect. They are not intended for outdoor use, The IR receiver does not function outdoors due to the increased IR Background light. I bought 2 of these about 4 years ago, and they were also great. They both had separate channels and allowed you to fly 2 of them at the same time. I bought 3 of them for easter (2015) and the new ones have separate channels but they overlap so only one helicopter will fly at once. They also used to be better in bright light situations, now you may have trouble if you have large windows that let a lot of sun in. These are cons, but They have definitely improved the motors and batteries of the new units. The new helicopters are much quicker, and fly longer than the old ones. Overall, they are great, if you have one kid, or if you have kids that share well, It didn't work out so well for my nephews. Also, they are for children mature enough to care for them. my 7 year old nephew thought it would be fun to play with his in the dirt like a truck and was disappointed when it no longer flew because there was grime in the gears. on the contrary, my 6 year old nephew treats his like a Faberge egg, and his still flies great months later. The best part about these is the relative durability. They are hundreds of times more sturdy than more expensive Airhogs helicopters, and can even be repaired, just keep stuff out of the gears.

I love this little micro chopper! This is my first RC helicopter, that I bought on a whim thinking it would break the first time I used it. Dang, I was wrong. I have a large space to fly in, basically a large open warehouse. This chopper has ate the overhead fluorescent lights, sprinkler plumbing, and just about everything else, often crashing down 15 feet or more! I just broke my first tail rotor, after a few dozen flights, but the chopper comes with an extra just in case. It is pretty thin, but easy to replace. Make sure you note which way it's facing, so your forward/rear flight isn't inverted (or do it, for fun!) Other than the damage to the tail rotor, the thing still flies like brand new. It is super stable and easy to fly, though it does have a few limits. I really don't like the IR control, because it's easy to loose signal with unpredictable results. It will often do whatever it was doing earlier, which can be bad, or it just falls out of the sky which is often hard to recover from. No matter, it's built to take it and I wouldn't expect much more for this cost! Flying outside is not possible during the day, but is great fun on still nights. I can get ~30 feet range in a brightly lit space, and I've had the thing higher than I could see at night, just for fun. After some bad wrecks, the circuitry needs reset with a quick on/off cycle. Sometimes, it seems to need to be set on a flat stable surface to "initialize" when you turn it on. I've tried launching it out of my palm, sometimes it works, sometimes I have to set it down. Not a huge issue, just watch for the flashing green light to go steady. This guy came with a USB charger, which is a good thing because charging on the remote seems picky. I think I may have bought cheap batteries, because it had issues charging from the remote. The light will fade from red to green nearly instantly, indicating a full charge. Name brand batteries seem to have fixed the problem, but I'll likely keep using the USB charger to save on batteries! I noticed the green light on the transmitter "fluttering" during use, I'd assume flight control gets wonky if you let them get too low as well, I seemed to have a few glitches but I haven't noticed anything since switching batteries. After figuring out the best way to charge, and the best way to keep the guy in range I've become quite talented at piloting it through lots of fun stuff. There are quite a few cars in my flight space, and buzzing in one open window and out another is entirely possible. This thing is super stable, and the non-spring loaded throttle trigger makes hovering or holding altitude easy. I have not touched the trim knob since I got it, and it still hovers straight. This thing won't tolerate wind well, but that can be fun in certain cases. Flying high above, then quickly descending on curved and slanted surfaces can pitch the copter at extreme angles and speed which is quite fun (with some proper throttle control!) Flying over uneven surfaces will upset a hovering altitude, but usually nothing more than that. A few friends have picked up on this thing pretty quickly, and a few even plan to buy one. I don't think I could have picked a better first RC helicopter!

Awesome little toy. Could be faster in forward flight but for $20 bucks who cares. This little bird is virtually indestructible and provides hours of entertainment. 4 days after purchasing this one I bought a second so that my son and I werent fighting over it. Only negative is there doesnt seem to be a channel switch on the copter itself. There is one on the remote, but not the chopper. Does that make sense to anyone else? Update: It is now August of 2015 and I had to subtract an additional star cause the battery is no good anymore. It died in May and so the toy got thrown in a corner like so many other toys. Syma's website does offer a replacement battery for $6 but after spending that plus money for additional blades, I've already bought another freakin chopper. So I'm a little miffed that the toy is only good for about 5 months.

I am writing this review as someone who has built and flown $600 6-channel 3-D helicopters upside down. I am an experienced RC Heli pilot, so just keep that in mind. This heli is simply awesome fun for the price. The precision control and stability that you are getting for $20 simply cannot be beat. I can't truly rate how durable this device is in a crash, because I haven't crashed it yet. However, the parts and build quality look great to me. If you want to get into flying an RC heli for a cheap price, I think this is the ticket. However, keep the recommendations in mind: 1- This RC heli is very lightweight, and therefore is greatly affected by air currents. I do not recommend flying this outdoors or near indoor air vents that produce strong air flow. 2- If you have never flown an RC heli, it is MUCH harder than it looks. It requires a very gentle touch, yet very quick reaction time. For this reason, I do not recommend this toy for kids under 12 unless they really have advanced fine motor control AND patience. Take your time learning how the heli flies and reacts to input on the sticks. Take off slowly at first and if the bird gets unlevel, reduce throttle and land smoothly but quickly. Find the biggest room possible with the least amount of obstacles. Learn how to control the heli with the tail towards you first. This way when you move the stick left, the heli flies to your left. Once you get better, you can try controlling the heli with the nose facing left, right, and towards you. This takes time and practice to get comfortable flying in all directions. 3- Keep in mind with any RC heli, that you have very little time to react and correct a mistake before panic sets in. It is not uncommon for the "domino effect" to kick in. In other words, you make one mistake after another until you end the flight in a crumpled pile of parts. Flying RC heli is not a forgiving hobby. When you make a mistake, it can and usually will end badly. Luckily, this is an inexpensive Heli to buy parts or replacements for. Take your training slow and don't get over confident. You should be very good at hovering in place before you try to tackle flying around in circles or figure 8's, etc. Take your time and have fun! FYI, the charge time has been somewhere around an hour for me with consistent 8+ minute flight times. Eight minutes might not sound like a long time, but for the beginner it is a long time. For the experienced pilot, it is long enough to have some fun and practice a few new tricks. Also, this Heli is stable enough to take off from your hand. I've also been able to hover the heli in place and grab the landing gear with my fingers to "catch" the heli in mid-air, but I don't recommend trying that for yourself due to the chance of injury.

This helicopter is fantastic. It is incredibly fun to fly. I have some hours down on flying similar micro RC helicopters but most of those have been the traditional 2 channel helicopters that allow you to go up down left or right (no forward or reverse). I know there are experts out there whom have gotten those helicopters to fly forward as well but I never had the time for that, so up-down, repeat it was. This RC Helicopter allows you to go up, down, forward, backward, left, right or just hover. The recharge time is appx. 45 minutes and you are then provided with roughly 12 minutes of solid flight. After that the power will wear down and you wont get the lift that you previously had. It would be nice if there was a warning light that came on when the power was draining, however i have never had it simply drop out of the sky as a result of a dying battery. It will just decrease in elevation to the point it wont fly. When the helicopter power switch is on it also has a flashing blue & red light which looks really cool in low light situations (however it is not enough to light up the room). I found this helicopter really easy to fly. Initially I could hover very well, the left/right turns were sharp and crisp, and the forward and reverse motion were tight and accurate. I also crashed this gem numerous times into the wall, floor, carpet, people, and just about everything else you could imagine running into (indoor only flights) and it is still all in once piece and flies great. I tell you, this baby can handle a hit. The unit comes with the remote (the remote requires 6 AA batteries), the helicopter (with an extra rear propellar that controls the forward and reverse motion), and a cable to charge the helicopter via a USB jack. The whole USB charging deal (I used my laptop to charge it) is pretty cool, because unlike other helicopters, the charge doesn't suck the power out of your remote's AA batteries like a hungry vampire. You do have the options of charging the helicopter via a connector on the remote (so it charges via the remote's batteries), but I recommend using the USB option when possible to keep your remote's batteries healthy. The one other item to note is that the remote uses IR sensors to control the helicopter so it run via line of sight. That means if an object (a wall, couch or person), gets between you and the controller, the helicopter will drop of of the sky like a rock. This is soo much fun to fly that I plan of getting a few more so I can keep flying while the others are recharging. Setting up and navigating courses for it to fly around, through, and land on are what I enjoy the most.

I bought the airplane and the package arrived in good condition. It was in good shape. Flying it is difficult for the first time, but it’s enjoyable. Unfortunately, it crashed while I was flying it, and the upper rotor shaft broke—sadly, on the very first day.”

I purchased this one as I had already gotten one before. They are well made & for the cost it is a cheap way to introduce yourself or others to the sport. These are quite easy to learn to fly. With some help even kids as young as 4-5 can do it. I strongly suggest anyone interested in purchasing a rc helicopter to consider Syma models.
