To bridge the gap between the smash hit Disney Channel original movie and its 2007 sequel, the cast of High School Musical embarked on a North American tour in 2006-2007. If you missed out on the experience of hearing thousands of screaming tween-age kids (probably 80% girls), never fear: the concert is now on DVD. The almost-complete cast comes out to perform every number from the movie, plus numbers by Vanessa Hudgens ("Say OK"), Corbin Bleu ("Push It to the Limit," "Marchin'"), and Ashley Tisdale ("We'll Be Together"), all promoting their solo albums. It's not a stage version of the movie--while there's choreography and video clips, the songs aren't performed in order and there's no plot explanation. And at 56 minutes, the DVD is a bit shorter than the actual concert was (missing some solo numbers and stage banter). But the kids put out tons of energy and continually thank their fans. Also on hand are Lucas Grabeel, who serves as MC, and Monique Coleman. The only principal absent is Zac Efron (who was filming Hairspray ), but Drew Seeley (who cowrote "Get'cha Head in the Game" and reportedly dubbed Efron in the movie) does a good job filling in. Great movie got here on time.

This is footage of a touring concert staring many of the cast from the film. The lead male "Zac" is absent however and this was the first thing my little ones noticed. The singing still entertains and the performance does include some new songs that the artists are promoting from their new solo albums. If you have the film you could do without this version as it is a repetition of the same tunes. If you are a fan you will enjoy seeing the stars sing the old favourites all over again.

Disappointed
I was disappointed that Zac Efron wasn't singing with Vanessa Hudgins. Otherwise it was great.I loved watching the movie. I wish there was a sequel to this movie called the the college years.

pretty good but why does vannesa huggens ( gabriela) sing threw her nose???!!!!!! whenever I hear her sing I think of the word nasel!!!!

Must-buy for any high school musical fans!
No matter you have been to the concert or not, this is a must-buy for any high school musical fans. I am a fan of Ashley Tisdale, and I wish this DVD could have included all 3 Ashley Tisdale-solo songs, since this DVD has only one: "We'll Be Together." The plus side (in my opinion) is, if you like Jordan Pruitt, this DVD includes 4 songs from the opening act by her. I wish I could have seen the concert! I love this DVD, and I give it a 5-star.

Get the set!
Got this for my daughter as an end of school year gift with a bunch of her favorite movies...she squealed so loud, the whole neighborhood heard her!! Now she plans to spend her summer re-watching them all after work....what a life:-) They arrived right on time for the end of the school year, and mostly in one box, so it really was like Christmas in May! Thank you-)

High School Musical The Concert
This is such an amazing concert. Not only does it show all of the hit songs from the movie, they even have 3 showcases of some of the cast's songs. Corbin Bleu (Push It To The Limit & Marching), Ashley Tisdale (We'll Be Together) and Vanessa Hudgens (Say Ok) are the showcases. This DVD really shows the atmosphere that was in Houston, where they performed. During bit's of the concert where the MC (Lucas Grabeel) is talking to the audience about the next section of the show, you get to see exclusive clips from interviews with the cast about the tour, some of which are included on the High School Musical : The Concert CD&DVD. The bonus features include all 4 songs that the support act, Jordan Pruitt sung right before the High school Musical cast go on stage. She sings... Jump To The Rhythm, Teenager, Outisde Looking In & Miss Popularity. Lucas also takes you on a behind the scenes diary of what happens behind the scenes of The High School Musical Tour. You get to see what happens : after the show (meeting the fans, signing autographs and having pictures taken wih the fans), on the boy's tour bus (what they do on there - sing, eat, sleep, watch dvd's etc), 2:00am arriving at the hotel, 10:00am arriving at the theater/arena and doing 1-2 hours of rehearsing and soundchecks, going backstage before the show and meeting Jordan Pruitt, going into the dressing rooms/changing rooms, going to hair an make-up, meeting the cast and crew, and the final few minutes before going on stage - the cast & dancers individual fun handshakes with everyone. On this DVD, you can be the camera guy and have a look at different views on selected songs in the concert. There are also plenty of sneak peeks on the DVD - Hannah Montana, High School Musical on DVD, High School Musical 2 on DVD and a sneak peek of High School Musical 2! This DVD is for TRUE High School Musical fans. too short
High School Musical in concert. Really enjoyable. The only negative things are that the lenght of the dvd is only 85 min. The real concert lastet at least 2-3 hours. Plus the live versions of the songs where replaced by cd versions.
