ORTONYX Sternum & Thorax Support Chest Brace, Post Surgery Recovery Vest

Great product! I bought this brace 5 weeks after I had a CABGx4 surgery. I wish I had found out about it before my operation. It is a big help with standing up, sitting down, and giving me an additional sense of security. I am having issues with the bottom 3 inches, of my sternum incision. When I sit down or stand up, the incision creases with movement, and is irritated. It is the last of my incision not healed yet. This brace keeps it from creasing, and helps keep my sternum tight. It is very adjustable. I was also having issues with my shirt irritating my incision, as I move, and while laying down, rising up, and walking, with my sternum pillow. This brace can be worn under a shirt, and solve this problem. I messaged my surgeon, and highly recommend this brace to him. I have two improvements, I can recommend. The top and bottom of the brace would be better, if there was separation adjustments, not just one for all. I would also recommend a couple of straps , to attach to my belt, to keep the brace from riding up the chest. I am a large guy, and this is the only problem found. This is a must buy, for anyone having open heart surgery.

Held my sternum securely post open heart. Made well and I wore over my tee shirt when I started to learn to walk, post surgery, for the initial short walks you start out with. I am almost 5 weeks post op at time of this review and last evening took my first solo walk around our block without the brace and I wish I had worn the brace. The fit and comfort was awesome, very well made and I could see this being used in other applications other than post open heart surgery. Once my sternum is complete in its healing back together, I will end up putting on Market Place for a fraction of the cost just so someone might find it useful.

I’m a PT. I ordered this for my husband whose sternum never healed following his quadruple bypass surgery. This has worked to stabilize his sternal movement and improve his comfort when he is moving, mowing, traveling and fishing. It’s discrete enough to be worn under his shirt, lightweight, adjustable and easy for him to put on and take off without help. Great chest protection for the money without the 300% mark-up of most medical centers.

It didn't fit unfortunately. These are not one size fits all. Yes they do make different sizes but they don't make sizes that make sense but only to tiny people. No options for bigger people. It looks great and I am sure it would have been very effective if I were a tiny person.

Got this for my boyfriend after his quadruple bypass helped ease coughing and sneezing also slept a little bit better with it on. Has padding close the incision but not bothering it so glad we got it for him it's worth the price. Best to get it before surgery to have as you go home so thankful for this support vest

I bought this to protect me post open heart surgery. It has been great! Excellent protection from people running into you as well as avoiding awkward positions.

Did not fit

I went through open heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic (highly recommend) on Friday (1/26), spent 2 days in the ICU, and was discharged on Tuesday (1/31). I didn’t wear this vest in the hospital but it has been my best friend since I’ve been discharged. Anything that rubs up against the incision site drives me crazy and this vest lifts fabric away from the incision and helps to relieve pressure on my sternum. It also provides a good place to grab as I get up and sit down. Can’t recommend it enough. I am 6’2” and weigh 250#. I bought an XXL and it’s a perfect fit.

Bonne tenue du thorax. Je me suis fracturé le haut du sternum avec un meuble lourd qui m'est tombé dessus. Avec cette ceinture j'ai pû continuer à travailler sans douleurs et tout c'est ressoudé parfaitement. Tiens très chaud tout de même. Je conseille cet article.
