this hat is much nicer than I had anticipated. very thick and even slightly rigid felt, holds its shape well, soft wool to the touch, not itchy or overly hot on the head. beautiful soft grey color and wonderful leather band detail. I just love the way this hat looks and feels. I do wish it was a tad smaller, my head is so tiny I always have a hard time finding hats to fit. my heads measures 21 1/4 inch around, and this hat has about a 1/4-1/2 inch to spare, maybe good to accommodate updo such as ponytail or bun. I'm not complaining because it does fit comfortably, not squeezing or putting pressure on my head. I pull the hat down as it sits quite high on my head and causes further space between the hat and my head... I think it looks cute that way though and feels more secure. the leather band detail is really adorable and truly makes the look. its thick oil tanned leather with a cute but subtle logo button as well as an x design with tick threads. it was packaged quite nicely for shipping, protective foam around the band, and not at all squished or misshapen when it arrived. I hope to get oodles of use from this gem!

The hat arrived in a plastic mailer BAG! When I opened the mailer and saw a second, too small, clear plastic bag with the hat squished inside, my first dismal thought was - this is going to have to go back - I paid too much for it to arrive haphazardly packaged and misshapen! After getting the second plastic bag open and the hat out - I was AMAZED to find the hat had survived such crappy packaging! I suppose this speaks volumes to the quality of materials used for and construction of the hat. It fits perfectly (my head measurement is 22.5) and I’m still shaking my head over it not being ruined by the way it was packaged and shipped! If I wasn’t instantly crazy about this hat, I would have returned it on principle alone due to the total lack of care when packaging it for shipment. This great hat deserved shipment in an appropriate box - shame on Pistil (or their agents) for scoring 0 stars for the packaging.

I first purchased this hat last year from a cute shop in downtown Sadona Arizona. I wear hats everyday either on the farm or at social events. Out of the 25 hats I have I get the most compliments with this one. It is beautiful gray felt and will dress up an outfit for special occasion. Men and women compliment me when I wear this one hat. I looked everywhere for anther so when I found on Amazon I ordered 3. It dips down in the front for that sexy look and it also works on the farm to shield the eyes and face from sun and the cold. I am looking for a silver head band to dress it up even more. You won’t be disappointed if you buy this hat. I also have the dark brown one but the rich gray is the one I get most compliments. It wears so good and comfortable.

Update: bought the darker grey and it’s much thinner material. Doesn’t hold its shape well. However it’s still cute but definitely not as thick/durable. Light grey: well made, but shallow. My head is relatively big, and it fits nicely circumference-wise around my head. If you want to wear it like a pilgrim on the top of your head then you’ll be alright- however if you want to wear it like a person of the 21st century, pulling it down to fit snuggly over your forehead and rest on your ears, then you will affect the shape of the hat. It’s still cute, but the little concave detail at the top of the hat is practically ruined in doing so. Also, my hat came with a slight bend upward from the way it was laying in the Amazon box. I’m currently trying to reform it by curling the sides slightly down but the wool has memory and continues to flip back up in the front. I may have to return/exchange if my attempts at fixing it do not work.

I was VERY excited about this hat until it arrived. The color I received was nothing like the photo at all, to the point where I thought they accidentally sent me the wrong one. Once confirming the label said the correct color I got very sad because this wasn’t the color I thought I was ordering and this color looks terrible with my hair. I spent my birthday money on this and am terribly disappointed
