When I received the item from amazon, it was damaged (the box was visibly smashed on a corner), and part of the shelf itself was split, and the shelf wouldn't open. I called the company - and I always let people know about good customer service... and they went above and beyond to make sure it was taken care of. I sent images of the problem, and they warrantied it, sending me a new one. It arrived today and its phenomenal! It doesn't scream "concealement furniture", its mounting is spaced 16" for studs, the magnet goes right where it should and tested/trained a bit with it today. Once the magnet touches, tap softly up on the bottom of the shelf and the mechanism disengages, and a hydraulic keeps the shelf from slamming against the wall. Its really well made, comes with adjustment instructions, and I am blown away at their customer service.

I’ve wanted a similar shelf for years but it was very pricey. I thought, if affordable, it would make a great gift for my two sons. I searched all the lesser priced shelves but none were very attractive or had good quality reviews. I didn’t see this one in person, but I liked the photos and the reviews. I took a chance and purchased two of them as Christmas gifts. They were shipped across country, directly to their homes. I was thrilled to learn that both of my sons loved them! One had it on his wall in no time! He said it worked well and looked nice. My intent was for gun storage, but he liked it for safekeeping of other valuables. Thus, versatility is a bonus! The concept has always been great; this product in particular, offers functionality with esthetics at a reasonable price. Good value. And to be a hit with them both made this mama so happy!

I had been looking for one of these concealed shelves for a while and had been looking at another brand for a while but at over $200 with the reviews that they were getting I was reluctant to spend that kind of money for some thing that wasn’t getting a whole five star rating. I came across lockdown by accident … it had mixed reviews but for the price I was willing to try it out. I’m beyond thrilled! I just ordered three more as gifts! It’s NOT perfect. Let me give it you straight. It looks good, easy to install, and holds two smaller hand guns easily the issue is once it’s mounted the shelf doesn’t release by just putting the magnet key in place. I’m assuming it’s either lock isn’t sensitive enough, the magnet isn’t strong enough or the weight of the wood and items hold that lock in place. (I just ordered a stronger magnet to test will you date later) For now with the magnet key it brings You HAVE to grip the shelf pushing the lid upwards as you slide the magnet in place … that upward pressure help the catch release. Once you’ve figured that out it opens without hitch. Hope this help and enjoy!

Fantastic shelf. Looks great and it has pre-drilled holes for 16 inch studs. Came out looking nice. Make sure to read the instructions on how to tweak the shelf. The light inside was a great indicator on leveling and making the drop down shelf flush with the wall to make it operate smoothly. If the shelf just falls down without being latched, that’s what you need to look at. Follow the instructions and it will come out looking great.

Always wanted a hidden shelf system but unfortunately this wasn't what i was hoping for , good luck in emergency if need your item quickly since it never opens on the first try more like the 5 or 6th try and by that time it's lights out,also there's a noticeable gap tried adjusting but no luck so to anyone looking it's a noticeable hidden spot , cheapest screws and hardware imaginable not fit for purpose; decided to disassemble from the wall and box it for an eventual return.

What can I say? This was the best and the worst valentines gift ever. The product is awesome, sturdy, serves the purposes and looks very nice. The installation was a nightmare. Nothing wrong with the product, but consider nature of the product, the shelf is rather heavy. So you need long and big screws /anchors to go into the wall to make sure they will hold the shelf. So we decided to ou the shelf right by the entrance door.hahahahah....apparently right after the drywall, we have concrete, so obviously on the first day we couldn't install. Then we had to buy drill fr home depot to drill through the wall, then home depot bought anchors were not long enough and the shelf when hanging would still feel very wobbly, then another round of going shopping to home depot and trying to buy another set of anchors for concrete wall and screws to hang the shelf.then another. The whole song and dance around this shelf took my husband around 1 month, this was exhausting. Don't get me wrong, she shelf is great, but if you're not mentally prepared for the struggles to install it, you be regretting the purchase. Well, one month later the shelf ia finally therr and sturdy and solid. My husband loves it, but God it took a lot of nerves to install. And at certain point i thought we are on the verge of mental breakdown

When I set the shelf up, it was great it worked. I left it there for a while because I hadn’t gotten my weapon for downstairs yet. When I received my weapon and I put it into the shelf, the shelf would not close. It just came down it would not stay closed, even if I move the magnet around and try different positions. The heaviness of the weapon made it come down it couldn’t stay closed.

Pros: It looks nice once installed Cons: The included hardware is way to weak, luckily I had some lag bolts that fit. The holes are very close to the inner edges, so it's difficult to get the hardware in. When I got it there were very lite scratches on the top where the magnet sits. (Returned, repacked, and re-sold maybe?) There were 2 or 3 very small cracks in the finish at the seams. The were no instructions for use. Yes, I know, magnet in the right spot, click, push, open. But nothing on the magnet in the left side of the shelf. The "+" and "-" signs printed on the battery case for the LED were backwards. Even with 1/4" x 3" lag bolts drove in with an impact driver, there is still a little bit of wobble. There just is not a large enough surface area on the back of the shelf to hold it against the wall tight with how heavy it is. For the price, it's not terrible, but I would have rather spent more for something better.
