What are the size of the slats that hold the glasses? Other globes seem to be around 3" which is too small to fit the diameter of whiskey glasses

Hello. the slats are almost exactly 3" apart. You can buy whisky glasses that are the necessary size but you are correct, the slats on all bar globes will be this size.

Does the globe rotate?

Hi there. The top rotates but the bottom does not. This enables the drinks holder to be solid for extra stability.

The photo shows a bottle of Jameson inside ther globe. Will the top be able to close with that bottle in the place it's pictured?

Great question! I don't believe that it would close like this to be honest. The bottles have been placed to look aesthetically good. In reality these bottles would occupy the middle of the globe and it would close just fine. The outer rings are really for glasses or smaller bottles.

Are any of the parts made of plastic on this piece?

Hi there. Great question. The material that the globe ball is made from is a thick black plastic, then paper is laid over the top to form the map. This method of laying paper on to the globe goes back hundreds of years and is the best and most accurate method. The only other plastic is the wheel part of the castors. This beautiful item is exactly as described and the quality is better than expected. The bar globe is a conversation piece and fits perfectly in small corners. It looks more expensive than the price and displays bottles and glassware in a stylish manner. I would not hesitate to buy this bar again and will be sending one to a family member as a gift!

This is an early Father's Day gift for my husband, and he loves it! It seems sturdy, and gives our dining room a more formal look. Very happy with the purchase. The writing on the globe is written in Latin, which is perfect, since much of our house is decorated in Old World decor.

Looks great in our theatre room. Beautiful design. A little wobbly and only fits standard wine glasses in there but it was a Christmas gift and a great talking point for guests, it does look great
