Saalt Soft Menstrual Cup, Reusable Period Cup with Carry Bag

To start off, I have never used a disc before this one and I purchased the saalt regular sized disc as I have a really high cervix. I took two quizzes online prior to settling on this disc. I took the put a cup in it quiz and the period nirvana quiz. The put a cup in it quiz is the one that recommended me to use this disc. I didn’t listen to the other quiz because it seemed biased and I wanted to try this one because of the soft silicone which I found less intimidating. Also the basin of this seemed the softest. (And it is, it’s so comfortable) I was very intimidated by discs because they sit in an entirely different location than menstrual cups do. However, I was drawn to this because of how much more discs hold than cups do. I have previous experience with cups. Let me tell you, this disc changed my life. The first time I tried placing it, it went horribly and it felt weird and uncomfy. I remember it pressing on my bladder. I immediately took it off and tried again. I changed my approach to guide it further in than I originally did and it worked. I just feel around to make sure it’s properly tucked in behind my pubic bone and that it’s around my whole cervix. I have a very VERY heavy flow on the first 3 days of my period and this handled it like a pro. I slept comfortably at night, I changed it every 5 hours during the day. On day 4-6 I literally only change it every 12 hours because it doesn’t get full. Autodumping and leaks: This disc was a perfect fit for me so I had zero issues with leaks. I only leaked a bit once but it was because I placed the disc in wrong (you need to place it deeper than you think). It does auto dump once it’s full but ONLY when you use the restroom. There was no autodumping during sneezes/ coughs/ laughing. And it shouldn’t leak during regular movement unless it’s a wrong fit or placement. When it auto dumps I never have to place it back or anything either, it remains in place. Tmi but you can also just do a kegel after it auto dumps once you stand and you’re good. You don’t have to go around feeling it to put it back after using the bathroom. I heard people say to do this but it wasn’t needed for me, just do a kegel. I have strong pelvic muscles and it works for me. Placement and removal: Placement was very easy, I have placed it standing up in the shower with a leg up and sitting down on the toilet. Both work but sitting down on the toilet was the easiest. Removal was easy, I only struggled once because I have an extremely high cervix. Removal can be difficult if you aren’t used to using your pelvic muscles or accustomed to your body’s anatomy. You simply bear down with your pelvic muscles and reach for the rim and slowly wiggle it out. I remove it over the toilet and slowly wiggle it out to avoid causing a mess. I haven’t caused a single spill or mess while removing as a first time user. It’s painless and I use extra small tampons for reference because I literally cannot use bigger tampons they always hurt. Because of the soft silicone material this never causes friction and it feels very comfortable to insert and remove. My overall user experience: I use this disc with period underwear just in case it ever leaks or the leftover after it autodumps from using the bathroom. And there is absolutely no need. The disc handles everything for me and I’ve started to wear just normal underwear when I have the disc because of how much trust I have in it. (No pantiliner, nothing!) And the best part is I don’t have to use pads or tampons anymore! This is amazing but I suggest doing your research to have less of a learning curve. I researched everything about discs and how to use them and I recommend getting comfortable with your personal anatomy because it will make this ten times easier.

Despite a high pain tolerance and having 3 kids, I have always been squeamish about tampons and used pads most of my life. About 4 months ago I started using tampons but I have heavy periods and the cost of a couple boxes or non toxic ones every month, plus nighttime pads, was breaking the bank, so i decided to give this a try - the gold standard for non tox, sustainability, and budget. I was expecting it to be really hard to remove but it was actually quite easy. It’s comfortable, holds a lot (I was bleeding through a super plus tampon on 4 hours on heavy days, and this lasted me about 8 and was only 3/4 full). Here are my highlights: -it made my periods LESS PAINFUL. I have had 5 periods postpartum with my third child. They make me wish for pregnancy again. They have been so heavy, so painful, just agonizingly miserable from start to finish. And I have a downward and outward pushing sensation the entire time, like my uterus is trying to crawl out of my body. Probably a sign my pelvic floor is weaker this time around. But when I wear this cup, that feeling is GONE. I was comfortable and even forgot I had a period for most of the week, and lest you think it’s my hormones balancing (like I also suspected), on the last day I wore a panty liner with no cup, and the sensation was back. It’s like the cup offered me some mild splinting and support. So if you have this feeling during you periods, see a pelvic floor therapist. But also buy this cup. You will be rejoicing. -it can shift and leak during workouts, especially if it’s very full. I started emptying it before workouts with no issue. But other than that, I didn’t experience leakage. -a few times it didn’t expand all the way when I inserted it, and few minutes later it popped all the way open on its own. This is good news and bad news: it’s a sharp and sudden sensation for a split second when it fully opens. But it’s reassuring to know that at least in my experience, it’s never had a faulty seal that caused leaking (other than when working out). I have a retroflexed uterus, which can make using a cup more challenging for some. But this cup is plenty soft enough for me, and I find that the easiest angle for inserting is while on the toilet rather than in the shower as some recommend. It holds so much. Like I mentioned, I have very heavy periods lately and using disposable products was getting too expensive, I just went through a ridiculous amount. I am convinced that I could wear this cup for close to a full 12 hours even on my heaviest days, and—one of the best parts—it’s safe to wear all night long.

5 stars all the way! I cannot express how game-changing this disc is. Here’s an overwhelmingly positive review from a certified internet-researching skeptic! I am finally FREE from period worries & stress! Within 24 hours of using this product, I KNEW my period life was forever changed. I’m now on period number 3 of using it and I can’t find the words to express how life-changing this disc has been for me. No more worrying about bleeding through tampons or having to time my bathroom breaks every 1-2 hours to make sure I would be ok while I’m at work. No more uncomfortable cramping from tampons or worrying about if I have enough tampons on me when my period decides to show up on its irregular schedule. No more spending $1,000+ a year on dumb period products because being a woman is a scam and these necessary materials aren’t provided to women for free like they should be. This is literally a “set it and forget it” kind of situation. It’s also true to the claim this product makes: this is truly a mess-free period sex solution! I am beyond amazed at how little mess there is, and it’s still easy to remove afterward to clean and replace. Definitely wash and replace after sex! I will note the following things to be mindful of: - I do feel like I need to pee more often, but not overwhelmingly so or a worrisome amount more. I think it’s more that the disc is filling up, so I feel like I need to go more often. There’s a *very* slight pressure, but everyone is different and I barely notice it at all especially compared to how noticeable tampons are for me. You can auto-dump (empty the disc without removal by bearing down) very easily throughout the day when you use the bathroom (the first time I did it I didn’t even mean to, but now that I know how easy it is it’s such a relief and has no mess afterward). It’s also kind of interesting to visually see and know how much is in the disc as my period progresses so I know in the future if anything seems abnormal. - It is very easy to remove and replace the disc. I wear it all day for 12 hours and then overnight for the same. In the morning it can be a little more difficult to remove, but if you sit up/stand and walk around for 5-10 minutes and loosen up your muscles it becomes much easier to remove. I usually get out of bed and get ready for my day or read a chapter of a book (~10 minutes of not lying down), then remove and wash/replace it and it’s a breeze. - I’ve found that if you break the seal the disc makes throughout the day when removing it by pinching the lip of the disc between two fingers to pull it out it’s pretty easy to remove. Just stay calm and breathe deeply; it will never get lost inside and can always be removed. Pro-tip: Wash your hands with the pH soap and leave your fingers wet for removal and replacement! It makes everything so, so much easier to do. Side-notes on other Saalt purchases: - I’ll be picking up the smaller (Coral) version of this disc for use during the last half of my period, as I don’t feel I need the larger size past the first 2-3 days and think it will alleviate the feeling of having to pee as much. - I purchased the pH-balanced soap that Saalt sells, and it’s amazing. I am insanely sensitive/allergic to almost every kind of soap on the market, and this doesn’t bother me at all. I’m allergic to fragrance and sulfates, so I was initially worried about the scent it has but it doesn’t cause me any allergies and actually smells really nice and is incredibly faint. Highly recommend this wash! A little goes a long way so the value is great too. - I also purchased the Saalt steamer because I am very lazy and don’t want to boil the disc before and after my cycle. The first one I bought was broken, but my quick and easy replacement has worked wonders since. Highly recommend picking it up! - I’ll be picking up the compact travel sanitizer case to carry my disc with me on days I’m expecting my period to maybe start and for the just-in-case situations where I need to clean it on the go but don’t have an easily accessible private bathroom. It took a little getting used to for learning how to remove the disc easily (1-2 days), and it can be kind of messy the first 2-3 days. It definitely wasn’t nearly as difficult to learn to use as my internet researching lead me to believe, so definitely try it out if you’re interested and don’t be hesitant if you’re afraid of a learning curve. I do wish there was a slightly better lip for removal on the disc but it’s pretty decent and if there was more to grab on to I think it might make wearing it less comfortable during the day so they’ve struck a pretty perfect balance here. I remove mine over the toilet and it’s really not bad at all! I really can’t recommend this product enough! I’ve told all my female friends about it and now they’ve all switched to using it and can’t stop raving about how it’s changed their life and thanking me for the recommendation! :) I don’t write many reviews - I’m a 10-hours of research on the internet and reddit for any purchase I make and highly skeptical of reviews kind of gal. I’m here writing this with the hope that I can ease the minds of anyone who has done the internet research and is still on the fence from the handful of reviews that say menstrual discs are difficult to use and require a long learning curve. It took me less than 48 hours to master how to use this disc and I will never ever ever go back to using any other period product for the rest of my life. Good luck & happy periods ladies!! :)

This is the third menstrual cup I've tried, as well as the third brand I have tried. I think the cup I tried before (Lena cup) was too thick and was difficult to insert, which led me to buy and try this cup. The Saalt cup is the perfect amount of thickness, that is easy to fold and insert. I haven't noticed any staining on the cup as well. The cup says it's "Leak-Free" but it does leak out a small amount and I wouldn't consider myself a heavy bleeder either. Other than that, the Saalt cup is pretty good and comfortable. I would recommend this cup to anyone who's been thinking of making the switch to a menstrual cup. A little piece of advise for new users, you want to break the suction of the cup instead of just pulling the cup out by the stem. How do you break the suction? Just pinch the walls of the cup first.

Every gal I know who uses menstrual cups loves them. After hearing about it for the umpteenth time, I decided it was time to order one of my own. Saalt comes nicely packaged, with instructions for use and sterilization and a little bag to keep it in. Insertion wasn't horribly difficult. It took a few twists to get it to open, and I leaked a small amount the first hour, but then it was all good. I have very heavy periods, and I had it in for eight hours with no leaks! Color me impressed! After the 8 hours, I get home and go to remove it. It's up there. WAY up there, I can barely feel it. The instructions say not to pull the tab, so I set about trying to pinch the damn cup to get it to un-suction and release. After about ten desperate minutes I'm able to twist it out - no mess, full cup - I dumped, cleaned and replaced. Not so bad, I think, I can do this! I go to a work event, and come back two hours later and try to remove it again. I thought it was up there before, but now it's almost gone. The Saalt cup is latched to my cervix like a starved leech. Try as I might, I cannot get it to come out. I can BARELY reach the cup with my fingers. I pull on the string, no bueno. At this point I'm starting to worry I'll have to go to the ER for the humiliating task of removal. So I call my fiance upstairs and tell him I have a very unfortunate task I need his assistance with. Now we're BOTH trying our damnedest to remove this thing. No luck. He's close to tears. I'm close to tears. The dog is standing nervously in the doorway, unsure how to help. Finally, in a fit of part rage, part distress, I grab the tab and I pull as hard as I can. It feels like it's pulling my entire uterus with it. Right as I'm about to give up hope - POP - it un-suctions and flies out, dropping what can only be described as a bomb of blood all over my bathtub. My fiance almost fell in his hasty retreat from the bathroom. It's been four days, and he still won't look me in the eye. It does what it's supposed to, but at what cost? I'll be experimenting next with the ones that have a hoop for "easy removal." TL;DR - you won't leak for hours, but you'll need the strength of the Hulk or digits like Salad Fingers to remove it. It's also worth mentioning I felt like it, for lack of a better word, "clogged" me up after it got full - maybe my fault for not dumping it throughout the day. EDIT: after a year of use and experimenting with other cups (frankly, this is the only one that does not regularly have leakage), I'm adding the final star. As many others have said, using this cup takes practice. Insertion and removal are both fairly easy (I do sometimes have to fish around, but nothing like before). If you're looking at other cups, just take it from me... this is the best you're gonna get.

This is a complete period game changer for me!!! I got the saalt small disc and I absolutely LOVE IT so much!!! I have never given birth so I bought a bunch of different size small discs and so far this is the only one I have tried, but I feel like it's already the BEST one!! I stopped wearing tampons a few years ago because on my heavy days I was soaking up super plus tampons every 2 hours on heavy days and I drink so everytime I peed my tampon would fill up with pee then my mini pad would get wet and have to change both everytime!! So I switched just to pads. I was sooo sick of waking up to blood in my underwear every morning with the overnight pads and everytime I went to pee looking down, seeing and smelling blood was getting to be really annoying and gross. I thought this would be really awesome too because no stinky big pads in my trash can anymore!! If I was living with a guy he would probably love me for making the switch!! Lol So I tried this disc and insertion was a bit difficult, but I got it in up behind my pubic bone easily and then couldn't even feel like I was wearing anything all!! It was like I didn't even have my period!!! I was amazed!!! So I went 16 hours by accident my 1st night from 6pm to 8:45am with it in because I didn't know there was a 12 hour time limit and I was sleeping and when I woke up it did start to overflow a tiny bit, but barely. I WAS SO EXCITED that there wasn't a mess I had to clean in my underwear and another pair of underwear ruined due to my period! So I went to empty it and there's a little notch on it that you hook your finger to grab, and then you have to push out to unleash it from behind your pubic bone at the same time. It does get your fingers bloody when removing it because it kinda spills out a little, but who the heck cares when it stayed in for so long without any leaks, no discomfort and no smell or seeing blood everytime I peed!! It was so fantastic that the blood on my fingers didn't bother me since my sink is right next to my toilet I could just wash it off right away!! I don't think I'd ever take it out at work or in a public bathroom due to that. So I cleaned it with soap and water and popped it back in, with again a little maneuvering and awkwardness (you have to sit down to get it in), but I got it! Then I went another 7 hours with it in on my heavy day and again no leaks, no discomfort, couldn't feel or or even tell I had my period other than the usual menstrual cramps!!! I am sooo in love with this product!! I WOULD RECCOMEND IT TO ANY GIRL WHO HAS IS NOT A VIRGIN due to the fact that it would be really hard to show her how to get it in without a plastic model of a vagina and cervix and she may have a hard time getting it in, you have to pinch it together so that you can get it in anyway. Now I'm stuck with a bunch pads I had bought right before buying this and don't think I'll be going back to them!! Lol 😆 this disc is seriously a complete game changer for me!!! I am so THRILLED, I took a chance on it and bought it. I bought 3 of them I loved them so much!! Also I can shower without seeing blood flowing out and can go swimming now with my neice and can go over her house or to my parents shore house overnight without having to worry about throwing out a tampon or pad in someone else's trash!! It is so perfect for me!! Sooo GO GREEN and try it for your yourself!!! You'll be soo glad you made the switch!! Some people on these reviews say it was hard getting out, it did make me panic a little my first time trying, but it's so easy now as long as you push out and pull with your finger at the same time!! I do not know anything about having sex with it in because I am not in a relationship with someone, but I do know you have to empty it before sex so that the blood doesn't auto dump out when it's full!! And if you do have sex with it in you can not try to force yourself to have an orgasm because when you try to force it you might push it out and it will probably get messy!! I hope this review helps someone to make their period game forever changed!! Especially if your someone like me who absolutely dreads her period every month!!

After years of misery I finally decided to give period discs and cups a try. After two babies I can’t tolerate a tampon, they feel like they are stabbing me, and I leak around them; and pads leave my skin feeling raw by the end of my period week. And I leak around them half the time anyway, even wearing extra long overnight pads during the day. And I don’t even have an overly heavy flow. I tried flex discs first. They were very comfortable and I had noticeably less cramping, but I kept having leaks, and they would need adjusting all the time during the day. When they were in place, I couldn’t tell they were there- but I knew immediately if they migrated. And my God, I could never find a way to take them out without it being a bloodbath. And they were disposable, so I had to keep shelling out money, and then I was putting more plastic in landfills. AND I still needed to wear a liner or pad anyway. I gave it five months, but then I called the experiment a bust. I resigned myself to pads thinking that I f tampons were too uncomfortable then a menstrual cup would be, too. But friends kept telling me to try one. There’s a website www.putacupinit.com that goes over like every product out there and the quiz they have to help suggest the right product pointed me to the Saalt Soft Cup. So far, I REALLY like it. I got through a day at home, a day at work (12 hour shift as a nurse in a busy ER), and two sleeps -and between the Saalt and Bambody period underwear (HIGHLY. RECOMMEND.)- NO LEAKS on my clothes or sheets, and no raw skin from pads. -I can feel the cup, but it is infinitely more comfortable than a tampon. I’m aware it’s there but I can tune the sensation of it being there out easily. It doesn’t feel like it’s stabbing me the way a tampon does. I have had to adjust it a bit a couple of times, but it’s mush easier to do with the cup than the disc, and MUCH less messy when it happens. -It was easy to insert correctly from the start. The instructions are clear, and I got it right the first try. -I have had scant leaking around it, unlike the flex disc that leaked all the time. I would almost be willing to wear it with regular underwear, but the thought of an accident doesn’t seem worth it when the Bambody underwear are so comfy. -When it is time to remove and reinsert the cup, it is SO MUCH LESS MESSY than the disc. I never once managed to remove a disc without getting blood all over myself. And the toilet. And occasionally the floor. It was insane. Twice I’ve been mess free with the cup, and the other times the amount of blood spillage was minimal. -The only area the flex disc beats the Saalt is that you can still have sex while wearing the disc, but not while wearing the cup. For me, this isn’t a deal breaker. And you can always keep a stock of discs just for period sex if you want. -So far I’ve only worn the larger of the two cups, since I’m just starting my cycle. If for some reason the lighter cup is a problem I will update, but worst case, I wear only the large and spent a little more on the two pack than necessary. I’m saving a ton over the life of the cup by not buying disposable products. I’m nearly 40, and the website estimates I will save nearly $1300 by switching. Imagine if I had started younger!

girls... dancers, ravers, festival goers - this review is for you. I LOVED this cup for 6 months - every cycle was a delight. The ease and comfort of not having to worry about all the mess for 8 hours was such a win for me. I have a normal 9-5 office job so sitting for long periods of time was no biggie. I have also worn her while strength training and had absolutely no problems. so what happened next was a BIG surprise.... I contemplated keeping in my cup before going to an EDM festival.. I thought I had no issue with her so far and truthfully just didn't feel like digging in to replace with a tampon. 5 hours later - I came home from the festie, took a shower and went to pull out the cup... only thing was.. there was no cup... at least I couldn't feel it. Before having a full blown meltdown I told myself perhaps she fell out. I had an incredibly fibrous green juice earlier in the day that resulted in me having to go #2 countless times- and even at the festival. And IDK about you but I've had times where I'm doing my business and my tampon has shot out into the toilet (a total tragedy - I never flush tamps on purpose). So I thought clearly this was the case. But to be sure I had my boyfriend come in and fish around for any sign of the cup. To my horror, he felt the cup with the tiny tips of his fingers waaaaaaaaaay at the top - the little plastic tip I described to him was not what he felt. He tried calming me down and was like we just need something to pinch it and pull out like some tweezers...this man said TWEEZERS would help get it out. I pushed him off and went online searching for a solution. I tried it all - squatted down low basically attempting a full blow delivery of this cup but even at this angle I couldn't even feel it in there. I accepted defeat and was honestly just soo freaked out wanting this out of me so I agreed in going to the emergency room. The doctor that came in immediately told me she has also experienced the same exact thing with a menstrual cup and she doesn't use them anymore. "For whatever reason it works for some girls and just doesn't with others," she said. When she finally got in there she told me the cup was sideways so she spent a good deal of time rotating it to the correct position before she relentlessly tugged at it several times. This was beyond nerve wracking and also SO FREAKING PAINFUL. I mean getting a pelvic exam is already bad - having a speculum inserted hurts like hell but now she's got a giant pair of forceps going in and trying not pinch my vaginal wall. TRUE HORROR. I had a nurse assistant prying my legs apart because I was tensing up so much.. the doctor said she had one last attempt in her before she would need to call in OBGYN to perform surgery. SURGERY!!! This was all so much to handle and later I thought why wasn't I given some xanax to chill out because I think any other person would have just been a hysterical mess. It was 1:30 am I was just physically exhausted and was still on such a festival high that I may have appeared more nonchalant than I really was. After the S word I definitely snapped back into reality. I started doing some breathwork - closed my eyes and imagined me in another reality. I was squeezing the crap out of my man's hand - again this felt like I was going through child birth. I could feel now that the cup had suctioned itself to the top of my vaginal canal and every time she tugged at it, my cervix was being sucked on. It was the worst feeling ever. I cannot even describe how relieved I was when she FINALLY PULLED IT OUT. I WAS FREE. I think I did cry at that point finally. My man was shocked at how "big" the cup was. (it was the smaller size) but yeah, I know there's even smaller brands out there which would probably be more likely to get lost and even harder to remove :/ I really was disappointed to have had this bad experience. My man was really dumbfounded that I decided to wear this when we were going to be out dancing jumping around and really shaking booty. I didn't put 2 and 2 together. Your pelvic muscles are really activating so maybe it acted like a pinball and launched the cup up up up. DANCERS BEWARE. I think they are still a good option for more leisure days and not such strenuous activity. I'm probably not going to touch them at least for a good while. Unfortunately for me, the trauma of this removal really flared up my endometriosis so for a week after I got cramps and achey nerve pains. It was not a good time. But I at least didn't need surgery, so there's the positive I like to look at.

This menstrual cup is a revolutionary period product, 100x better than tampons. I didn't think a period could be so forgetable and easy. I used to go through 6+ tampons in a day, which takes time and thoughtful scheduling if you are out of the house. You only need to change the cup in the morning and night. That's it! The learning curve was much easier than I imagined. After 3 changes, I had it down. My only regret is that I didn't switch over sooner. The time and money I could have saved and convenience I could have gained. The most amazing part is that you don't need to worry about running out of supplies or frantically running to the store if you forgot your time of the month was coming. From the first time I had a period (13) I promised myself that I would never let a period get in the way of anything I wanted to do. This cup supports my period life mantra.

Uso le coppette saalt normali da qualche anno, sono facili da usare e si aprono facilmente, ma nell'ultimo periodo mi causavano la cistite a causa della durezza. Ho deciso di provare le soft e tutto si é risolto! Si apre facilmente anche se è più morbida! Consiglio a tutte. Mai più senza.

Thought I'd try this, as I didn't like the sound of suction with menstrual cups and I desperately want to stop using pads. The regular was far too big and I thought this wasn't for me when I tried it – it just would not go in. Bought the small and was expecting the same to be honest, that it just doesn't suit my anatomy. Pleasantly surprised, as it's a game changer! Very easy once you work out where your cervix is (mine is very posterior facing so bit tricky) and get the positioning right. Never going back! If you struggle with the regular please try the small, it made all the difference for me!

I love these salt cups, only I’ve purchased the set three times already and the smaller size always tears when I am pulling out after 3-6 months of having it. I am gentle of course however I haven’t had this issue with any other cup. I’ve moved on to a more durable one which works although I wish I could keep using the Saalt ones due to softness, shape and aesthetic. If they improved the end I would recommend to everyone.
