Loved this book
After looking at a book on Tarot, that included astrology and made me feel uncomfortable, I thought Tarot was not for me. However, this book was just what I needed. Easy to follow, very helpful and a wonderful guide to using the cards going forward.

A good beginning
Year's ago I had my first experiences with Tarot, didn't think much about it then and moved on to other things. Since then I have been married, divorced, lived six-years on both mainland Italy and Sicily; six-years in Japan (Yokosuka, Tokyo, Atsugi); a year in the middle of nowhere (Diego Garcia); As well as throughout the US (including Hawai'i). Periodically I've met and seen people, friends, and lovers using, and/or playing around with various astrologies, Tarot decks, and other such tools all over the world. I've known some who follow the guidance almost to the point of a religion, and those who just bring out their tools at parties and special events (weddings, births, etc.) Always, the explanations were basically the same, these aren't really telling or predicting the future or making and magical suggestions to follow, but rather as a resource, to help individuals to focus their own thoughts, to better help them to consider options and alternatives which the cards might be displaying. Always done with the full knowledge that these are only choices, not actual decisions.Upon reading this book, I began to better understand the history and better relate the psychology involved with the usage of these tools for entertainment and in many cultures as a form of guidance toward making personal decisions. This book, does a very fine job of presenting the very basics ot the Tarot cards. Providing a basic brief history of their origins and usage, and explaing the symbolism of each card enabling a basic foundation for future usage and entertainment. This is a clear and understandable starting point, and if you want to learn more, to become more proficient with your own deck, this is the book to read.Have fun and always be open to learning new things...

Perfect for beginners
Well paced for beginners of Tarot. Clear and concise and not too complicated. Brings Tarot out into the open, demystifies and makes sense of divination. She allows all of us to make use of it in a common sense manner instead of shunning it as something belonging to La La Land or of being secretly afraid of what might be revealed. Learning one card a day and ruminating on it throughout the day reduces the confusion of too much info in one session.Definitely recommended.

Insightful Tarot Guide for The Novice and Beyond
This book by Lisa Chamberlain is quite thorough, offering history, explanations of the Major and Minor Arcana, use of the cards by intuition and level of experience, individual card meanings with both upright and reversed, spreads, book ideas, bonding with your deck(s), and the creation and use of sacred space. The meanings offered are clear and concise, without going too far afield and causing confusion or worry for the new reader. This is really helpful for a new reader, as some books go into such great detail and positing of ideas that it can get overwhelming, especially for those just starting out.I did find, (unless I'm losing my mind), that her layout detail of the Celtic Cross spread didn't match the preceding image in the book. There are multiple layouts for the Celtic Cross, but this will invariably confuse the reader, if laying the cards for one or the other in the book.Overall, this is a really good book for novice and intermediate readers.

Great for beginners and interesting read for more experienced reader
This is a great book for beginners. My daughter is wanting to learn the tarot and bought herself a beginners package of cards and small instruction book, although the cards were beautiful and the book was helpful, it was very basic with just a few lines about each card.I purchased this book for my daughter and am pleased with information within. There is brief history of tarot and then a page to each card with a little more detailed descriptions of meanings. There are also instructions on doing reading a ‘three card spread’ and a ‘Celtic cross spread’ .I found it an interesting read as a more experienced reader and a great asset to beginner. At the end of book there are suggestions for further reading. This is a lovely book covering history, meanings and basic readings. At less than £5 it’s a real bargain and I’m sure will become a well read little book. Recommended.
